9 years on Faslodex
I had a radical mastectomy in 2000 w/chemo, radiation the whole 9 yards. It was in my chest wall. I did not have reconstruction. I had 2.5 years on arimodex and 2.5 on another aromatase inhibitor. In 2017 I was diagnosed with Mets to my left lung. I’ve been on Faslodex for 9 years. I’ve been lucky, tumors have shrunk and I’ve had minimal side effects. I tolerate the hot flashes, fight the periodic tiredness, and to no estrogen side effects. I guess I’ll be on it the rest of my life. But I wonder—has anyone else been on it this long, and what happens if you take a break?

Decisions about continuing or pausing treatment are usually very individual and depend on how the cancer is behaving, how the body is tolerating therapy, and your oncologist’s overall plan. It’s a great topic to bring up with your care team so they can walk through the risks and benefits in your specific situation. We hope others who have faced similar decisions will also feel comfortable sharing their experiences here with you.
