implant capsular contracture
Anyone with experience with implant capsular contracture? Was surgery necessary or is there another way to correct this? The implant has been encapuulated for a while, but only recently starting to be very uncomfortable. I have had this one since 2014. The other side is also encapulated but not uncomfortable. I am in the DFW area, so if anyone has a recommendation for a compassionate surgeon, I would love to know. The original surgery was done at MD Anderson, but would like someone closer.

@kikkib, while surgery would be recommended for more severe cases of capsular contracture, your reconstructive surgeon may offer some more conservative treatment options if you're a candidate. Alternative non-surgical approaches include "closed" (non-surgical) capsulotomy, steroid injections, oral medications, and ultrasound treatments, but these methods are not as effective in preventing a future capsular contracture recurrence as surgical capsulotomy or capsulectomy combined with implant exchange.

I have a history of capsular contractures having had multiple implant replacements. None have reached a level of discomfort like this one, so I feel pretty sure than I will need surgery. Would love a non-surgical option if possible. Do you know of a reconstructive surgeon in the DFW who is compassionate? I learned a long time ago, that all doctors are not created equal either in competency, compassion, or bedside manner.

I am really just trying to find a compassionate plastic surgeon to help with the issue, be it a simple release or an implant exchange. I am in the DFW area. In the past Wippetmom was very helpful in keeping a list of surgeons around the country who were knowledgeable and compassionate in their care. That is how I wound up at MD Anderson. I did reach out to her several weeks ago, but no response. It appears that she is no longer on this platform.
