Nausea and Migraines after Bilateral Mastectomy
I had Stage 0, Grade 3 DCIS in left breast. After two lumpectomies, margins were still not clear. I opted for bilateral mastectomy based on family history and genetic testing results. I am 16 days out from the third surgery within 7 weeks of each other. I am nauseous every day and have occasional migraines/headaches. I was told the headaches could be from sleeping in a recliner. Has anyone experienced this? What works for nausea? I have tried eating crackers, rice cakes, rice, toast, very small amounts more often, ginger, ginger juice, ginger spice, inhaling peppermint essential oil, listening to books, naps, getting outside for short walks. I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor. Any suggestions besides or in addition to a prescription?

Pharmacies used to sell Coca Cola syrup for nausea which worked well but that is a thing of the past. There is a product called Humco Cola Syrup. I’ve never tried it but an acquaintance told me it helped her. Generic Zofran is effective for me but it requires a prescription. My DH has had migraines for years and Excedrin as soon as it starts works just as well for him as the prescription meds he has been prescribed.. I hope you can find something that works for you.

Thanks Maggie! I did get prescription Zofran last night. It seems to be helping with nausea but causes headaches. Hopefully, OTC pain meds will help with the migraines/headaches.
