Where is Val? Is she out of town?

Didn't she say she was going to the beach in, I want to say, North Carolina?

Kay thanks so much for sharing the information on the trial you are taking part in. I'm sure it will help lots of women on these lists
Your daughter is going to end up being a documentary film maker....I have seen your other videos and she has done a great job. You are so generous.Thank you to all who spoke about the question of when our yippies actually get squishy
I'll remain patient and optimistic
It's hot a steamy in NY...thunderstorms looming.......
Strength and healing,

Laura~ha ha you've not seen the video's Emily took today!!!!
looks like she had the shakes! She was moving it all over the place! Will still put them online when i get chance and i will put a link to the LE ones on the LE link Deborah put on above.
I dont get facts and figures from the LE lady though really. She just tells me if i have any swelling or not.But the video's may prove useful to someone.

Deborah~that made me laugh so much about the pillow!!
I have been sleeping ON TOP on my half of our duvet for the last 6 weeks or more, with a smaller single duvet to cover me. My hubby thinks i am doing that on purpose just to keep him away from me too!!

Its partly true,as he moves about alot in his sleep and YANKS the duvet! If the duvet was pinned down over my boobs when he yanked it,i would get a third degree fabric burn from it!!

Good idea Deborah, re the LE thread - will do that. About your own swelling, you might ask one of your docs (not PS) about getting screened, just in case. While unlikely you're truly LE-ic, everything I've read says it's much easier to treat if caught very early than when seriously swollen. And it sounds like your poor DH needs a snuggle or two!

Wow I have been gone for 7 days and this thread just flies so fast I can't catch up.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Thank you for all my well wishes for surgery tomorrow. I have had 9 surgeries in my life, so you would think 1 more would be no big deal, but I am scared to death. I have terrible veins , so getting an I.V is always a joy. I know this is a good thing and after 19 long and painful months I am FINALLY going to get these expanders out of my body! Someone remind me how wonderful that is going to be!!
For all others who have had surgery this week or are yet to have it, I wish you an easy surgery and quick recovery!
Thanks for being there girls!

Kay: Oh, too funny! That is even BETTER - just TRAP THEM UNDER THE COVERS SO THEY CANNOT GET TO YOU! I LOVE it! My husband is a thrasher also. We have a tempurpedic mattress, which thankfully, eradicates the jarring I used to get with the old bed, but he finds it necessary to FLIP that duvet cover up in the air when he gets in and out of bed or turns over. So your solution sounds ideal to me. Why didn't I think of it???
Susan: I am reminding you that it will be WONDERFUL to have implants and to dispense with the TEs....and I happen to be one of those who liked her TEs. Go for it!!!

Susan- Best of luck on your exchange tomorrow. I will keep you in my prayers this evening. Can't wait to hear another story about how wonderful the yippee squishies feel. I am longing to get there next month! HUGS!♥

Hi ladies it's been a little while since I have been on here, but I'm back. I had my implant exchange done on 6/1....and I had a question for you. Here's some background for you....I'm 5'4, 116lbs, 29.5 in rib cage...I was expanded to 465cc and I had a Mentor high profile Gel 400cc implant (350-4004bc) placed in. I was wondering about "fluffing" since I wasn't sent home bound up. Is that something that only happens when your sent home from the hospital compressed by the surgical bra or by bandages? I'm just wondering besides the swelling that I have if there will be any other changes at all. I was preparing to wake up with hamburger buns, but they don't look smashed at all. But they aren't big by any means either. Just wondering if you all had any ideas....Thank You ~ Mandi

I'm also planning on posting some pictures but I have to get a new USB port for my camera...so it will be a few days yet.

From what others have said here in the past, Mandi, it takes months for the full "drop and fluff" to take effect -- you are way too early for that if your exchange was just a few days ago! Be patient

Mandy: Ditto what Lilah said...

Well I saw my PS today we discussed several options for my next revision. Deborah I hope you will chime in on this for me. The plan is I will exchange these current implants for saline 850cc which she will over expand to 950cc which will bring me to 7.3 projection and at the same time she will do the second session of fat grafting to the left foob area.
I will also have some liposculpture (sp) done I have not decided a100% on this but it was discussed.
That is only if she can not get the custom 1000cc silicone that apparently she has been able to get prior.
I will have all this done in mid September if all goes well.

SUSIERED: Best wishes for an easy day. I hope you get just what you want. Just think....this time tomorrow....you'll be all done!

Fat Grafting questions:
(1) is it normal for fat grafting to be lumpy after the procedure?
(2) at today's post op i was told it will get hard- but not sure if that means it didn't take and will be dying off or if getting hard is part of the healing process - did anyone have theirs get hard?
(3) should i be massing the grafted area or something to make it less lumpy and more even?

susiered: Good Luck on your exchange tomorrow!
mstar: A 13 year old! I know that you told me your age, but you look as if you could be 13!!! There is going to be a study done by my BS at Norris where they do more extensive pre-testing with dye so that they can better pinpoint which nodes are removed. Instead of just doing the dye through the nipple they will also shoot dye into the arm so that they meet in the middle so they can see what is really going on instead of guessing. It's too late for me to participate but I am happy you are able to participate in the study there. My PT is measuring my entire arm every 2 cm starting at my hand to see if there are any changes, but that's it.
deborah: That story was my best laugh all day. It sounds like something I would do.
kittycat: I totally missed the post where you had fired your BS. I fired my first one and what a relief. We go through so much it's important to feel comfortable and get the best care possible. If you ever come to Los Angeles for care, my oncoplastic surgeon does beautiful work. He's also a triple negative specialist.
MandiPandi: Congratulations on your exchange! I am crossing my fingers and hoping they drop and fluff into what you had envisioned!

hope4future~i cant tell you my beauty secret or it wouldnt be a secret!!! LOL
JUST kidding......
well......i dont smoke and i've always kept out of smokey places.
i rarely drink alcohol (not keen on taste and it dries your skin out)
I have worn foundation everyday since i was 16! This lets the airborn dirt, grime, free radicals, pollution etc sit on top of the make-up instead of sinking into your skin. Then its just removed at night. I swear by it.
I am careful in the sun and where block (i dont sunbathe)
umm.....i cleanse and moisurise and exfoliate daily. No flashy products as i am prone to spots.
Thats about it i'm afraid! I think the main factors are the foundation to protect my skin, and the never doing the smokey places all my life. The resr is down to good genes.
But thanks for the compliment!
ps.i will be 37 in OctoberMBJ~yup! nearly 13 ! hard to believe

I had the exchange yesterday and will take off the dressings later to shower. I did poorly with the anesthesia despite taking all the precautions, I came home and could not tolerate food and what little i managed to get down, came up. Pain wise- no where as bad as the BMX. Today I feel great. I told DH about drop and fluff. I can look down and see 2 mounds in this black low cut surgical bra.

i have put my 3 lymphedema videos which i took yesterday,on the "Lymphedema After Surgery" section. Apologies for the wobbly camera work! I think my daughter must have been trying to swat a fly! LOL

Waldo...welcome back so glad your recovery is going smoothly. apart from the nausea ;p Hope each day gets even better

Susie good luck with your surgery!!! Hope everything goes perfectly

MBJ you said that your doc is a triple neg. specialist. What would this be...I am a tri-neg and my understanding that there really isn't anything in the cancer bag of tricks for us other than surgery, chemo and radiation. Curious about the specialty

All the best to all, strength and healing,
Laura

Rebecca: Yes, it sounds as though you are headed in the right and only direction you can go in order to get sufficient volume. If your PS could get those custom silicone implants, that would be great, but barring that, getting 950 ccs in saline would be your next best option. I think your PS has your back Rebecca, and that is a very good thing to have in this breast reconstruction journey.
packer: I had the little lumps which hardened and then miraculously dissolved and were absorbed. Either that, or they went to my brain, which is why my memory has been so poor lately. Hey, I tried calling you earlier....check your messages...

Yay Waldo!! Congrats!! BLACK LOW CUT surgical bra, now that's a nice touch.
Mandi, congrats to you too!! May you have beautiful dropping & fluffing over the next few months!
Anna - that's so funny your PS actually used the words "drop" and "fluff". He must figure if he can't fight us he'll join us.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Maybe we should all get post-exchange tank tops that say "Drop and Fluff"!
I'm getting the one that says "Yes, they're fake....the real ones tried to kill me!" and I'm wearing it to my "coming out" party!

Kate, I've got that shirt. Strange that when I wear it, no one comments.
