Kate33 and MBJ  - About the Wii fit....I have been using it for over a year ...I love it...I have lost 15 lbs.   I do the yoga, strength, aerobics,  atleast 30 - 40 mins.  I try to do it everyday but since the last few months with the implants and exchange I obviously didn't do it.  Now getting back to working out again almost every day.   I now have the Wii Fit plus...which gives you a few more exercises, yoga moves, etc. plus it tells you how many calories you burn.  Not sure how accurate that is.  I also have less aches and pains and just feel better about myself.    I also do the soccer, skiing, and other games sometimes for fun.

Hmmm.... I don't use Wii Fit -- just the sports that came with the game.  Can one buy Wii Fit Plus without owning Wii Fit?  (Is the Yoga and aerobics on the Wii Fit?)

    Lilah,

The yoga and aerobics are on the Wii Fit....you need the little platform thing...and I am not sure what else since I bought everything together.  The Wii fit is an additional CD.  What is also funny is when you don't go on for a few days....when you finally go on they say  - hey where have you been or something like that.  you have like a personal trainer.

Kate:  Love your sarcasm!!  I just used the WII and my arms are sore!!  I did boxing (really fun punching somebody--not sure what this says about me LOL!), and rowing and on Monday we should receive the WII fit, so I will let you know.  A magazine did a comparison for 30 or 60 days where one did a diet, one did excercise and one just cut back on eating portions. The winner was a healthy diet lost the most pounds.  If you have alot of weight to lose, diet is the fastest, and easiest to do if you just cut out all the carbs and sugar, just not sure what to do about the cravings!!!  Since I already lost my 20 and I was starting to gain it back, and my husband was tired of his little pooch, we were both motivated enough to get the WII.  I think it's great!  I will let you know when the other part comes!

Lilah- For those that already have WiiFit you can get an upgrade CD for the WiiFit Plus for $20.  If you don't have WiiFit at all Costco.com has a WiiFit Plus Bundle that includes the game and balance board for $94.99 (the cheapest I've seen it without buying it used) that includes shipping.  I think the only difference between the regular and the plus is the new one has added more exercises and balance games.

Thanks to all for you , especially ESTEPP and GISELLE 7 for your  replies to my questions regarding the creams to use, and other questions that I asked.

I bough online cocoa butter from a helath food store called Chagrin Valley Soap. It was very expensive.  I was hoping to save time an dbuy online but it was not worth  it.

I NEED ADVICE, because I am so worried. For the last 1-2 days the radiated breast in which I have the TE has begun to feel tighter and to hurt.  I had bilat MX with TEs 1/20/10 and then rads on right side for 5 weeks. Rads ended 4/12/10.

All was well since the rads. I had my last fill 2 weeks ago, and am about 410 cc on each side.  It did not feel uncomfortable for 2 weeks since the last fill.  Yesterday, FRiday at work the right , radiated breast really bothered me. In the past I would never feel them and always wondered when I read the statements from other about TEs being so uncomfortable.

Anyways, on the right side, there are NO changes on the skin, NO readness, the skin ais as before thin and soft , BUT the breast hursts more. It is sort of a dull sensation present at all times.

I read here a comment about adhesion pain. I am thinking this is waht it is. When I push up th eleft breast it moves freely.  The right one has veruy soft , thin freely movable skin overlaying it, but when I try to push the breast up and down IT IS FIRMLY ATTACHED TO THE CHEST WALL.

Has this happened to anyone else as they progressed with the expansion on radiated breast?

    Thank you.

Did you know you can also chart the "fitness" of your dog on the Wii fit?  They don't have exercises for pets, but you can make a Wii Mii for them and chart their weight.  Kind of fun of fun when the Miis come out, the pets jump around.

I wish I could have gotten a mini face lift and my lids lifted.  Soon, my lids will be so low I'll be able to have them done medically, so I might just have PS suck out my jowls at that time.  Smooth the wrinkles around my mouth and tighten up my chin.  I looked about 40 right after my first chemo.  I look about 60 now.  I have an 82 yr old friend who looks better than me.  I'm 54!  Any body lipo will not happen.  $   I'll just have to diet and exercise.  Yell

Kate -- thanks!  I have been thinking about joining a gym but am now thinking I should just use my darn Wii!  I don't have Wii fit but will look into buying that package (cheaper than a gym and either way it's about me motivating myself).

Someone asked about how to deal with cravings on a low carb diet.  I have to say that like all addictions, the cravings for sugar and carbs tend to subside the longer you go without.  Kinda like: as long as you don't take that first bite, it's easier to avoid and you crave less.

Trying - I did not have rads so I don't know if what you are feeling is rads or not.  I only had one TE and it was unmoveable so I am surprised to hear you say you are able to move even ONE of yours!  I think you should contact your PS about this.

LIlah- You are so right about the cravings!  I used to be a total sugar and carb girl but during recuperation from the MX all I craved were fruits and veggies.  Now when I eat something sweet it doesn't even taste good to me.  I never thought I would be saying that!  Now if I could only get over my cravings for reality t.v.!

hmmm....i have seen the wii fit plus advertised on tv. I may invest in it if you only have to buy the game. I could do with getting something to put my balance board onto for when i am doing the step. A flat board would be ideal. I was eyeing up the coffee table the other day but its a bit too high! LOL. my leg muscles would have been burning after 10 seconds!

Does anyone to the 'free-step'? The one where you can set it for 10,20 or 30 mins and you just follow the timing beat on your hand set and you can switch to your fave tv show while still doing the step? I've only done the 10 mins up to now but will work up to 30 mins then select a cool show to watch while im doing it! =D

I got really cross with my male 'trainer' on it yesterday. I was doing yoga and he kept telling me my balance wasn't very good then the next second it was great, then it was bad again! I switched him to the female trainer in the end as his voice was getting on my nervesYell

And is it just me that does this (ha ha) .....when the trainer is explaining how to do something,i cant help but poke him in the head or the butt with the little hand thats on the tv,using my wii remote!!!!!  LMAO!!!!

    M-star....

I am always talking back to the trainer....when they say oh yr balance isn't good...or on the yoga ...oh you put yr foot down didn't you....

I haven't tried the free-step....I will have to try that.   I did buy the riser for the board to elevate it more for the step aerobics.

    Lilah...

Wii was not the complete reason for me losing 15 lbs.   I did watch my diet...high fiber, less white flour, limited my goodies...candy, etc. and also walked either outside on on treadmill for atleast 30 min a few times a week.  But Wii got me started and I just try to do it as much as I can.  I am retired so I have more time than you working girls.  Slow and steady wins ...that's how I did it.

Can anyone tell me about how long the *exchange* surgery takes?

I am having my implant (not expander) removed and another placed due to skin necrosis/extrusion  Aug 11.

PS will do a lift on the good side at the same time.

Info I found says the lift takes from 2 to 5 hours, but can't find info on the exchange. I know it will depend on how much needs to be done, but a guesstimate would be nice.

Of course when the PS said *any questions?* I could think of non.

    sigh

Artsy -- heh I may work but I spend HUGE amounts of time sitting on my butt so I'm working on my attitude... it would not kill me to walk 30 mins a day on my treadmill... which is right near the couch where said butt tends to reside :)  Thanks for the inspiration!

As for resizing photos... if you have a PC (not an Apple) open your picture file, right click on the picture and choose "open with" and then choose "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" ... once the picture opens in that program, click "edit picture" at top center... then on the right a menu will appear and towards the bottom is an option "resize" (click on that)... then click on "predefined width x height" and choose a smaller size (like web small) and then click OK... the picture will shrink... before exiting the program click "file" in top left corner, then click "save as" from the drop down menu and rename the file (like "boob shot, small, date" :) or whatever... or just hit "save" and it will save this smaller version of the photo in place of the larger one... gosh I hope you DO have a PC!  If not, then I don't know what program does it in Apple.  Anyway once you have saved it (or used "save as") you can upload the smaller saved version of the photo to the site.

Ferretmom -- I had exchange on one side and lift/reduction on the other at same time and my entire surgery took about 2 1/2 hours.

Kay -- LOL you crack me up.

    Lilah,

Thanks,  I do have a PC and just followed your instructions....I will now try to post on pic forum...should the picture look the same size as the original one I used to resize?

How do I add another pic to my existing site.....I feel so stupid!

No worries Artsy -- the new picture should appear smaller but still encompass the entire image.

To add to your thread.., just hit reply, write something like: here I am 2 weeks later (or whatever) and then browse and attach the new picture to the reply (just as you attached a picture to the initial post in the thread).  I have not been able to figure out how to add to an already existing post.. but a new reply to an old thread it's easy as pie :)

ferretmom- Exchange surgery can vary but I think it typically takes about 2 hours.  If you want to know exactly how long your surgery would take I would call your PS's office and ask to speak to his/her assistant and ask them.  They are the ones that schedule the surgeon's time, O.R. time, etc. so they would know.

For everyone who has felt rushed with their PS, and forgets to ask certain questions, I got set up with my PS's assistant so I could email her anytime I had questions.  They liked it because I didn't take up as much time during office visits, the assistant could answer the questions at her convenience and anything she didn't know she asked the PS and got back to me.  Post exchange my PS was out of the country but stayed in contact with her assistant the whole time so I could still get my questions answered.

(((Laura))), so sorry your LE is acting up.  I am sure that is no fun and it's a constant worry.  I have been lucky, mine started in the middle of chemo for me which was about 4 mos. after the surgery for lymph nodes.  I was freaked initially, but my PT told me how to best manage it for me and it has stayed very mild.  I don't know how severe your symptoms are but I wanted to share one thing that I think works for me.  Whenever I am sitting on the couch, reading, watching the tube, or on my laptop, I put my left arm up on the couch "arm" which is pretty high but still comfortable.  I think it equalizes the flow of fluid in the arm and it doesn' have to work so hard to get rid of it.  It's just a little something, but so easy to do compared to other drainage techniques.

Hello Ladies.. I am going for my exchange surgery on tuesday.. I have had a bilateral mast with TEs in now.  Suddenly I am very sad... can't stop crying.  I should be happy to get these TEs out finally but I am just so tired of needles and doctors, pain pill and antibiotics.  I have to have rads done in Sept and just weary.  What wrong with me?  What can I do. ??

    Aww DeeCee

It's very common. You've been through so much the past year. And another surgery is not easy, even if the outcome is for a positive reason. We have all cried, before, during and after. Do you have a good relationship with your PS? Maybe you can call her or him and get some help there.

I am hoping that this is just a passing feeling.. I just finished chemo and am taking herceptin every three weeks.  I know there is an end in sight but seems so overwhelming at times.  My family and friends are very supportive just don't want them to see me down.  Don't want them sad too.  Thanks for your positive response.  Sometimes you can feel pretty lonely.

    Hello Everyone,

Seems like I haven't been on in a week and it's only been 2 days. What a busy weekend! I had my sons 18 BD/Grad party.. We had a blast. It was an all day affair and the best part of it is I had catered which meant very little preparation for me..

Oh well, so lets see. My "rash" which I believe is not a rash at! I think it's just a break out from stress or something is still there. It did go away in some places but no the places my PS would would have liked. I got cultures done 2 weeks ago from my dermotologist and the test came out negative for any kind of infection so I am free and clear for surgery on Wednesday FINALLY.

Hugs to everyone else having surgery this week. I wish you all well :) Jennifer

    Hope4Future -

Thanks for your post about anesthesia - I am also one of the people who get sick/nauseous with general anesthesia.  At my surgeries they gave me the patch behind the ear (scopalamine) and didn't use gas but IV only (propafol).  Something to mention is that those who are prone to PONV (post op nausea and vomitting) will most likely always be prone.  It is amazing how much better you'll feel when given the right drugs.  Glad your surgery went well.

DeeCee- I had the exact same feelings and emotions before my exchange.  I think it's because I had just started feeling pretty good physically, even with the TE's, and the thought of having to go through another surgery and all it entails just seemed like a step backwards in a way.  I knew I was going to be in pain, have drains, trouble sleeping, dealing with incisions, etc.  On top of that there is a lot of pressure on exchange surgery because this is the one that is supposed to make you "all better".  You just want so bad for it to be perfect.  So I think your sadness and crying are very normal.  It's an exhausting few months and one more hurdle can seem insurmountable sometimes.  I have to tell you, though, that this surgery is so much easier than all the others.  Almost everyone has a lot less pain and quicker recuperation.  The surgery itself is usually pretty short and you will be home before you know it.  I just had mine a month ago so if you need to talk, vent or cry feel free to PM me anytime.

deecee:  I am so sorry you are feeling so sad but it's understandable after all we go through.  I didn't cry very much until the morning of my MX and up until then I was so strong.  I am sure when I have my exchange in August I am going to be a mess and it's expected!  Like Kate said above, we go through so much and all our hope are to hopefully look normal but it is a huge loss, all the same.

    (((Hugs)))

Jennifer:  Congratulations on finally being able to move forward with your exchange.

Kay:  I am always talking back to Wii!  Can't wait to get the Wii Fit!!

Artsy:  How is everything coming?  Did you say they can adjust yours a little because you have the saline?  I will have a look, as they should have settled nicely by now.

MBJ...I just posted an updated pic on the forum....yes, the augmented side can be adjusted because it is saline....the other side is a gummy..  I have appt on Thurs. need opinions.

deecee....I know how you are feeling....I felt the same way before exchange but it is easier than other surgeries.   You just take it easy,  cry if you need to, no harm in that....wishing you a successful day on Tuesday ...
