    MBJ.... anytime sister... any time!

Lilah, my trip was nice... and a lot of fun... then my son called at midnightish.... freaking out about his unknown illness.  So I calmed a crying 20 yr old from 12-2... until he passed out asleep on the xanax I made him take while talking to me. Mind you.. we are a family of NO TAKING MEDICATION . My kids never got sick.. so they are stubborn as adults to take any pills....

I understand your fears of exchange.... but for me... it was much better. I could sleep on my belly... no problem. I am not sure how long after though. Sorry. I am sure I was belly sleeping after two weeks. I am a BIG belly sleeper. Implants are very soft... so the belly thing was AOK.

I hope you all have a great week.

EXCHANGES........ You are going to do great!

oh yeah. I went to my oncologist today... He said I am still NED in his opinion... and I don't have to see him for another 4 months. Yeah.

After exchange surgery and the drop and fluff stage do you get larger or smaller???

I can't tell if I have swelling or not?

Laura -- it  makes me sad to hear about your son's distress.  I hope the doctors can figure it out soon.  As for you -- Waaaaaaaaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooo on being NED still :)  That is awesome.

Hope -- I have a gummy so not much drop and fluff, but I THINK it's more about the shape getting fuller at the bottom.

Laura- I feel so bad for your son but how lucky is he to have such a great mom who's still there for him.  I really hope they get things figured out SOON!  Poor kid!  Just not what you think you'll be dealing with when you're 20.  Of course, BC is not what we thought we'd be dealing with at........29?

    Weird question -

When massaging my implant, next to it, in the middle of my chest is a strange feeling like plastic rubbing plastic. It's like chalk on a blackboard to me. What could this be?

Laura:  I can't believe the doctors still don't know what is going on with your son's health!  That has got to be really scary at 20.  I hope they figure it out soon.

    Congratulations on being NED!

    Kate: I'll go with 29!

Clarie -- I don't know... maybe the alloderm?  I would ask the doctor.

Hairdresser question - I feel like since the exchange surgery last week I have wax on my hair.  Does anethesia cause this???  What can I do to get rid of it?

I really want to get a body perm.....do I need to wait or is it ok to get one this week?

Thank you for the help in advance!

Hope4future- My stylist told me to wait at least a month or so before doing anything chemically to the hair.  She said the anesthesia can cause the hair to "take" in some spots and not others.  I'm not sure about the waxy feeling.  Aveda used to have a great shampoo that would remove build up from the hair.  Not sure if they still have it but that might work.

On Perming: Please wait 6 weeks from getting anesthesia or your perm probably will not take.. Your hair holds this medicine for a long time. Please go buy a bottle of Paul Mitchell 3 Shampoo. ( $6.00... and it will cost more if you find it a CVS and buy it there..grrrrrrrrrrrr)

Anyway.. wash your hair with this. Do not rinse. wait another 5-10 min. then rinse the shampoo. You might need to do this a few times. Then condition. This should help rid this anesthesia from your hair.

When you do get a perm, make sure that your stylist does a " clarifying" treatment BEFORE she perms you in 6 weeks. She needs to know you have just had anesthesia.

Laura~ Shampoo 3.....i remember that......thats for clarifying the hair isn't it? Getting rid of product/chlorine/salt etc? I do like Paul Mitchell products =) Especially The Conditioner. I used to rub that into my finger nail beds too!

Estepp - I am sorry to hear about your son's health problems. There is absolutely nothing worse than not being able to help your children when they are distressed, mentally or physically.

Does this mean I should cancel my all-over color apt. in 3 weeks. Crap, I can see the gray roots already. Bad planning on my part.

Artsy - I saw your pictures on the picture forum. Wow - you look fantastic! You must be so pleased!! Congratulations!

DeeCee - I just posted your date. A little late, but hopefully you will appreciate it. Hugs are going your way my dear!

Vmudrow - I sleep comfortably on my stomach every night now. I still smile and snuggle a bit when I do. It actually feels good and my PS tells me that it helps to keep them soft.

Laura - Yeah for the NED! But I am so sorry for your son! I have a 26 year old daughter that is special needs, so I know the phone call calming stuff very well. I have been thinking of all of you and wishing all the best! Has he heard anything more?

Hope4theFuture - I am not sure whether we get larger or smaller after the "fluffing" - but it certainly looks more natural.

Claire82 - I have no idea, hopefully others may have a suggestion for you.

Mykidsmom - Thanks - I am patiently waiting when I can sleep on my stomach - I too will be smiling.  Especially when I don't have to sleep on/with rocks (TEs).

Estepp - thank you for the advice.  My mom picked some Paul Mitchell 3 up for me.  I will use it in the morning.  Maybe I won't need a body perm after all the "gunk" is off my hair :)

I'm still catching up but wanted to post before I forgot what I wanted to say. Story of my life!!!

Lee45 - I was one of the one's that Val was talking about. I hated my foobs after the exchange. I was a manic mess. Just ask Deborah Embarassed. I expected to come out with these great big bouncy boobs. I thought they were too small and ugly. I was obsessed with looking at them. It was an overwhelming feeling. I promise - IT WILL GET BETTER!!!!! You just have to give them some time and I know that is so hard. I think we are our own worst critics. After I sent Deborah my pics, she quickly reprimanded me and told me they looked awesome. She definitely gave me a much needed attitude adjustment. After a couple of weeks, I really noticed some big changes.  I am 3 1/2 months post exchange and I love them. Hang in there. That is what so many women told me and they were absolutely right. Take care, Melissa

Hi All, I've been catching up on the posts for 30 mins. and do you think I can remember what I wanted to respond to? Oh No, hello chemo brain!  Well, some random thoughts...

(((hugs)) DeeCee, hopefully by now you are home recovering and on your way to feeling better even with ups and downs that come with another surgery.

Yowee, what is this about waiting on hair treatments?? Just got home tonight from a color touch up.  Did NOT know about the anesthesia sticking around.  Seriously...hope my roots don't turn green.

Yes, I have ripples, divots and too much squishy on one side.  I can feel the edges of the implant in a couple of places on my foob.  I am 3 weeks out from exchange.  The good news is I am finally not aware of the implants 24/7.  I have periods especially at work where I now forget about them for a while.  Nice.  Also, inspections are down somewhat.

And..I finally had my dh take some pictures that I will post this week.  Yea!  Big step for me.

Laura, yahoo on the NED!  I am on a four months visit schedule, too.  Feels good.

I did it!!  I read all 546 pages!!!!  Do I get a gold star?

DeeCee, I'll bet you are out of surgery by now and doing great!  I was so glad to read what you had posted because I am feeling the exact same way.  The closer my exchange date gets, the more panicky/stressed I feel.  I wonder why that is?

Thanks for all the great info, ladies!

I went to the BS today for a 6 month check up and I couldn't believe how anxious I felt when I pulled in the parking lot. It just brought back so many memories when I am feeling so good. The appt. went great, and she did a thorough breast exam and felt nothing - yeah!!! She thought the implants looked great which made me feel very good. It feels like it was another lifetime when I saw her last and I was still recouping from the masc. Another rollercoaster day in a life with BC.

On another emotional note, my nips surgery is a week from today and I am really nervous. I keep thinking about canceling it but know I just need to get it done. It's a little unnerving to know I will be awake for the hour and a half he will be cutting, twisting, and turning my skin. I'm thrilled I don't have to have anesthesia again but not looking forward to the numbing and laying there as they do it. Would love to hear from those who have been through it. What kind of recovery am I looking at? I have lots of school stuff to get ready for and want to be able to be up and moving right away. What about exercise? How soon after? This girl has spent the summer eating and drinking way too much. I need to exercise,

I hope everyone is having a great week and staying cool.

I just realized I missed a whole page of posts!

deecee- Hope your exchange went well today!  Sending you lots of gentle (((hugs))).

jkz- Good luck tomorrow with yours.  Hope all goes well and you are quickly back home in your favorite jammies! :)

vmudrow- I'm not a stomach sleeper but was very excited to get a wonderful back rub from my DH for the first time in 4 months.  Sweeeetttt!!!

m-star- I did the same thing!  The night before my exchange I was up until 2:00 a.m. writing a letter to my son and DH in case something went wrong.  (Little did I know my premonition would come true and they would try to knock me off in Recovery.) Surprised

    Jkz, good luck today!!

Boromom, I had the procedure you are about to!  Only one nip was done, which took about a half hour.  I was a nervous wreck about being awake, not afraid of pain, just the thought of it!!  I was so happy leaving the hospital with my wits about me, no anesthesia brain, for that a local is worth it.  I felt absolutely no pain, just a little tugging, listened to my ipod, and kept my head turned toward my husband.  Yes, he was allowed to stay and kept one hand on me.  My ps asked me before starting what song I was listening to.  I couldn't read the ipod w/o glasses so he did, it was Laugh Till You Don't Cry (Andie Davis)!  LOL, we all got a chuckle out of that one.  Best wishes to you and all those recovering or about to exchange!

Not sure if this is the forum to ask this question, but I'm sure at least some of you can help me. I'm down to one drain on my left side, so I tried to sleep in the bed and found that my TEs felt stiff and hurt when I tried to lie on my side. Did others find that? Are we not supposed to lie on our sides with TEs because they are supposed to be immovable? I see my PS next week, and I'll ask them but just thought I'd see what you all have to say. I'm getting tired of being away from my DH in bed (we are relative newlyweds, married Oct. 2009). thanks all, Regina

Regina:  I have had my TE in since 3/20/10 and I am still barely able to lie on my side.  It's pretty much sitting up or sleeping on your back I'm afraid.  I only had one side done and it was even painful for quite a long time to lie on my other side, too.

jkz:  Sending you good thought today!

deecee:  Hope you are doing better today.

Regina: I couldn't sleep on my side  starting at about 300's in my fills. Try propping a soft fluffy pillow under your TE while lying on your side. I think you will find though that it gets tougher as you progress with your fills. You'll probably be better off in time sleeping on your back with pillows on each side to keep you propped up. At least that way you can sleep in your own bed. I had to sleep on the sofa for 3 months as I just couldn't get comfortable in bed!

JKZ: Best of luck in your exchange.....sending positive vibes!
