Illinois ladies facing bc

Oh Lisa, it was so good to hear from you here. I do "see" you at Facebook but those are so short interactions. I am so sorry about the :LE situation. Also I too see the Ginny messages on Facebook and it upsets me. I am not doing the walk this year because I screwed up the dates and thought it was that Sunday. I have been doing that a lot lately and am not sure if it is chemo brain or just scatter brain.
Have you been going to any more Mitzvahs at Green Acres? I live one minute from there.
I wold love to see you. I am sure the scans will be fine but of course you are anxious. You will be on my mind. Susan

Good morning everyone...
Jackie wrote about keeping ex relationships.. well how is this one - I am having lunch today with my Ex husband's Ex girlfriend!! Fate has brought us together as she is a throat cancer survivor and doing well..
We are also firing the nanny today.. just decided we can't live in the house where someone makes us uncomfortable.. last night was the last straw for DH when she ambushed him with demands and then said that she can leave the MINUTE her husband or mother fall ill back home.. well.. I need NO stress and stability for now.. so DH will do this when he comes home.. I of course still feel bad and didn't sleep all night.. and now feel like I have a hangover...
So off to do errands.. I have no back-up nanny and my parents are leaving on a 2 week vacation on Mon which they kept postponing no thanks to me..
Now both my son and older daughter have colds.. so won't see them until Sunday...they need to improve their immune systems.. time to test their Vit D!!
wish me luck today!! will be a long stressful day..

Susan,
That is so funny that you mentioned being at Green Acres, my boss's daughters had Max and me there as their guests at the pool this past Sunday. I had a good time visiting and swrimming and Max had a blast. My boss of 23 years passed away back in March, but I am still close with his family. I was at GA for his memorial in May (I actually spoke) and then for a bar mitzvah in June. My other boss is also a member, and while I was laying at the pool in my bathing suit he and his wife came and chitchatted with me. It was very pleasant actually, I have worked for him for 21 years.
I forgot to mention in my post that I have joined LIfetime Fitness. Unfortunately, it is not that close but we love having access to the indoor and outdoor pool. Now with school starting and us getting back in a routine, I am going to try to get there to work out and maybe do a yoga class or two in the course of a week.
Take care all.

Good afternoon gals!
Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I had a wonderful day. A couple of my best friends took me to breakfast and we shopped a little afterwards. Then Dave took me out for dininer last night. My little guys called and serenaded me with "Happy Birthday" and the entire day was wonderful! You'll hear NO complaints from me about celebrating another birthday! :-)
Lisa, it was so good to hear from you again! I've missed you! I wish I was going to be able to do the walk this year but we have a prior commitment this time. I will be walking along with you in spirit, though and will miss getting to see you all this year.
Hugs to all you gals who are going through treatments right now or who are just finishing them up!
I'm off to get something accomplished around here this afternoon. I have played too long!

Lisa, if you are ever at GA and can spend some time after your fun there, let me know. I "grew up" there so to speak as my best friend lived next door and the "club" just let us walk about the place even though her family was not a member. Her family did services for the club then. My brother caddied there when he was young. GA bought my childhood friend's house and it is now a part of their parking lot. I have such fond memories of it. They totally redid the place and it looks wonderful but it looked great to me when I was a little girl. The pool was wonderful! It was in the middle of nowhere when I played there as a child.

I am not from Illinois so this seems to be a strange place for me to post but I don't know where else to put this. I am from Alaska. Are there any other ladies out there from our fine state? I would love to hear from you. I met many cancer patients from Alaska when I had to travel from my town, Ketchikan, to Seattle, Washington to get treatament. I stayed at the SCCA house and it was wonderful. It seems that many of us in Alaska have to travel out of state to get care. So, if there are any Alaska people out there, can we hear from you? What has been your experience so far. Where have you been for treatment. Come talk to us.

Morning....a bit drippy out but I am glad...my lawn looks terrible...all brown! Cooler by Friday with temps around 70 and sunny...beautiful!
On my way to an appt but wanted to stop by....
LisaMed....I am so sorry your LE is kicking up! Keep an eye on it for sure. And I am so glad that you are using your new pic from the wedding for your avatar...you look so beautiful! Not at all like yourself! (ok...anybody that has met Lisa knows that she is gorgeous)
Connie....I got my Vit D3 50,000U from amazon.com. I can send you the link. DO NOT use an rx from your doc for a couple of reasons...usual you get D2 and it's horribly expensive to go thru your rx/ins. I got a bottle of 100 for under $50. with s/h and since you only take one a week that was a good deal. Also...I have a friend with MS who was also told to start on this (her level was 8!) so we simply split the bottle. We both have to take it for 6 months and then re-test anyway so this worked out wel (and cheaply!).
Gotta scoot for now...

Wendy -- I think you should be called Wendy the resourceful. I am always amazed at how easily you seem to work things out for yourself. Well, I'm sure it does help that you are a nurse so have fairly immediate understanding of differences in D2 & 3 etc. It is great to have an Internet too --- must have been so much harder years ago to get all this right.
Hmmm, on Lisa's picture. I could not quite figure why she looked so different -- duh, is all I can say. LE -- something I hope I never get and hopefully with only 3 lymph nodes gone, won't, but Lisa you do sound like you have a good handle on it -- just hate to hear anyone ( Laura ) has to deal with it. Seems a bit un-fair to go through so much to get yourself NED and then have an aftermath reminder.
Nuts are coming down out of our trees and as well I now am seeing some dry leaves finding their way to the ground. Thankfully, not many --- but it is the precursors to Fall. I'm not sure I'm ready. Heck, I know I'm not ready but I'll just have to take what comes and be thankful I'm able to "gripe" which is a good reason why not too.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Jackie
p.s. wonder where Smerf's wedding pics are, don't you ????

Grandchildren give you great joy, along with occasional great worry. My youngest is going through tests because she is not growing as much as they would like. I am just praying it is nothing, and in my heart I think it is not. She is so alert. Celiac in the family -- That would not be terrible....just a gluten-free diet. God, I love her! I babysat the elder while my daughter endured the agony of blood draws, urine gathering and the whole thing We were told after all that torture that blood tests are not even reliable at this age. Only if she is anemic...that would show up. HATE IT!

maranatha - I noticed you started a thread in the Moderators forum. You should start the same thread in the Support & Community Connections forum - under the topic GET TOGETHERS. That's where many girls have "found" others in their area. Best wishes to you. It really does help to connect with others close by you.
Lisa - You look fabulous! Sorry about the LE...I hope you can avoid the compression wrap. Luckily for me, it worked, along with 3 months of intense PT. I hope you can keep it under control with MLD.
Susan - I hope it's nothing serious. Your heart must be breaking. Everything's crossed for you and your family.

Bummer - it's cloudy and dreary today. I wish these last days of summer could ALL be sunny and HOT, HOT, HOT! lol I love 90 degree days!

What great quote!!
So we are waiting to let the nanny go until this weekend.. but unbelievably she also asked for Monday off as she said 'it's a Government Holiday".. hmm.. never thought of myself as a government before.. Anyways no one is calling so far for the job..I'm worried it's a few things.. a. we live far, b. I'm sick.. This ignoramous asked my Mom if I'm CONTAGIOUS!! can you believe it? So now I have to get my brother and sister in law to juggle their work schedules next few weeks as I go to my dr appointments.. My DH said he's willing to keep her until our trip, but just tell her she's not getting paid on Monday, but I'm worried she'll be disgruntled.. and I leave her with my baby... I HATE this disease and what it has done to me.. already...

Otherwise, it's Gab's 9 mos Dr appointment today.. can't wait to see how she's grown...
Susan, I definitely understand the worry you are going through.. not sure if I told you guys that Gab ended up in the hospital overnight the week after birth.. with blood draws and IV.. turned out to be jaundice that could have caused brain damage if not caught early.. thank god it was...

Hey Laura, I'm with you on the HOT, HOT, HOT!!! We really did need the rain here, though.
We're getting up bright and early on Labor Day and driving up to a Cubs game. One of my golfing friends gave us great tickets behind first base. Now it would be really nice if those Cubbies decided to play ball that day!
I hope everyone is doing well! I've got a free day with nothing much on my docket so I'll check back in later! My big goal for the day is getting to the store to buy ingredients for appetizers for a cook-out Saturday night.
Have a great day!

Hi to all on this wet, wet day. We do need the rain, but drat --- I like for it to come on my days off so I can run feed the feral cats during a break in the downpours. I just have to hope and pray that it is a dry time when I get off work.
Marina -- big bummer about the nanny issue. If I were there I'd help you out big time. Hard to believe about Monday --- guess I'll never understand committing to something and then not doing it -- how is that done??? Some us really are not sure. We will ask your nanny for pointers as she has it down pat.
I'm invited to a cook-out Monday -- thinking about an apple cake or praline cake --- hmmm, just may have to make two if I can't decide.
Hope you all have a fantastic day. Wishing you all small problems and wonderful solutions.
Hugs, Jackie

Okay...can I bug you girls with a sticky situation? Since most of you are "Moms" and I'm not (don't have any experience with this type of thing), I thought you could help me with this.
My 20 year old niece and her boyfriend are visiting IL from FL. On Monday, dh and I are hosting the whole fam damily for a bar-b-que. My niece and her bf will attend and plan to stay overnight here and we'll get them to the airport the next morning.
Question: What if they want to sleep in the same guest bedroom (I have plenty of sleeping areas)? I realize that I'm just her "aunt" and not her Mom. Should I simply keep my mouth shut and not say a word and let them decide for themselves? Should I ask that they sleep in seperate rooms? I'm open to your opinions. I don't want to seem utterly prude, nor do I want to seem as though I am promoting it. Help!

I would ask them if they wanted their own sleeping area or not. Between you, me and the fencepost, it is a whole different era now. In my generation some people were doing things like this --- it just wan't very open. I'm not saying it's wonderful, but who are we kidding. Still -- even at that, they may prefer to be a little more discreet and have separate rooms. I'd let them decide.

Jackie - Oh thanks...I appreciate your input. The tally has started! Thanks again!

Laura, being relaxed is the key. Show them the guest room and tell them they can "put your things here" and then show them another room and tell them it is also available for their things. Then show the bathroom so you are just welcoming them into their new surroundings. Put towels and stuff in both rooms and let the scene play out. It sounds like fun to me!
Playing "Dear Abby" is so much more fun than talking about cancer, yet I know we need to talk about the latter too.

I have had to deal with that situation for sure. I just say that it is best to ask up front before they even arrive. Saves awkward moments later. Have fun.

Hello~~ ladies~!!! this is just quick stop.. since I am so tired..
Today was my last PT for LE.. I felt much better and I've been manage pretty good, I think..
I also had my yearly mammo done today and it's CLEAR
what an relief that was...Lisa- Sorry to hear that your LE is kicking in... I hope you feel better soon..
Laura- I agree with Jackie and Susan... your niece is grown up person and old enough to know what she can't do or can do when she is not home.. You can either ask them if they want to sleep in the same room or just let the scene play out..
Marina- Hopefully you can find the much better nanny this time.. You sure don't need extra stress..
Hi~~ to rest of the ladies and I can't wait to meet you ladies on this year walk on 25th...

Hi Laura, I would ask your niece privately if she prefers separate rooms or sleeping in the same room. Things are very different today..I have a 23 and 26 year old and they tell me that sleeping together is different from having sex together. You know, it sounds fishy but I believe them. Kids are more relaxed today and feel comfortable sleeping with the opposite sex as just friends. Enjoy your company.

Well...I just knew I could count on you gals! I realize this is "off topic". But...thanks for all the advice. I now have a clearer idea of how to deal with this. MOMS know it all! I still welcome additional opinions...THANKS MOMS!

Happy Friday to all. So glad that the long weekend is here. Looking forward to chill in on the water if we have no rain. That storm was really bad last night....it was a real lighting show. I didn't get much sleep from it so now I am very tired. Hoping that 3 pm comes very fast today.
Hope everyone has a great Labor Day holiday. Have fun with family and friends...ohhh gotta run I am late for work. Will check back later.
Remember to be healthy...be happy. ..enjoy life.

Good morning all,
Struggling with decision...
One onc says TAC, one onc says AC+T, one onc(integrative) says TC, so three different opinions on the same thing. I think I need a fourth! Off to check my burn today, crossing everything I got. (c: Happy Friday. Thanks for listening. Adey
