Thanks, lago!  This is why this thread is so great once all my drama is screened.Laughing.  What is a probotic?  Is that in the yogurt or a pill?  And oh so weird....my favorite food is CHEESE.  Every trip to Wisconsin and we go a lot means a cheese stop to fix us up for a few weeks. And last night was my first night off the liquid diet and what did I grab....a juicy hamburger!

Thanks for piping up! That pain can get scary!

I have not had a hamburger in years. Last time I had one it was only 1/2 a hamburger… big mistake! I do eat goat and feta cheese with no problem but cheddar can cause problems. It is higher in fat.

Sorry I spelled it wrong. It's probiotic. I get it in a power that I just toss in my morning yogurt. Some yogurts already have this bacteria in it. It also comes in pill/capsule form. There are a number of different ones that you can purchase at Walgreens etc. It think Align is pretty popular these days but I haven't tried that one.

I use Nutraflora (purchase online) but I'm thinking of switching to something I can just get at walgreens. My source has dissappeared.

Afternoon all...gray and drippy out but that's OK!  Had chicken soup for lunch and a quiet afternoon is in order as DH and I recover from Adventures in Babysitting.  Nothing like a few stimulating rounds of Disney Princess Monopoly with a side trip to the park and then I introduced all "3" of the kids to "The Incredible Mr. Limpet".  OK...who remembers that movie!  They loved it.

Susan.....awwwwww....all I did was reinforce what you already knew in your heart (or "gut" should I say).  Still say it was most probably a case of too-tight lingerie (girdle-itis LOL).

Jackie....was reading in the paper about the upcoming festival down by you and it mentioned Raccoon Lake!  When is that festival?  Sounds beautiful down by you.

Elf....glad you had a great BD and are feeling better after PT.  I never needed it for LE (knock on wood) but I did a whole summer for my back.  Learned so much that now when I do something stupid, I can go back to my exercises and find relief.  It was so worth it.

BJ....how are you?  Is your boat out of the water?  Would be gorgeous to keep it in until the leaves change but maybe you can't do that?  I know nothing about boating I guess....

Waving hello to everyone....my book and the couch are calling.  Out for dinner tonight....hmmm...how does Italian sound?  A little Penne Broccoli in olive oil with shaved Parm on top.....yum!

Hope everybody is doing well....and feeling as good as you can.  Hard journey we are on...but we are TOUGH!  We can and will do this!

Probiotics are especially good to take after you've been on an anti-biotic.

susan...good for you and finding out the issues in the gut etc!!!II have struggled with constipaton since i was a child and since BC I have been with natural remedies that has turned things around for me such as good fiber, probiotics, less dairy and they termed me with  what is called a Leaky gut. IT is all a process for me and take some nasty fiber and green powder drinks daily and my probiotcs by night and am no longer a toxic waste  dump inside..lol!!! As we age, our digestive system slows down and even taking a digestive enzyme is a smart idea for any of us!!

Having company for dinner and hope my roast makes it as it looks awesome..lol.. red and all! I have some DR appts this week and all dealing with my thyroid and endocrine issues and a saliva test that will hopefully see what is what. I tire still and sleep is still crappy.

HOPE to see many of you at the RACE this Saturday and we as a team did great in our donatiing efforts.!!!GO Connie too!!!lolol.. see you soon !!

Chemo women... keep resting, plenty of fluids and do know we are here for you!!!

    Hugs,

    Donna

I've missed a lot in the last week.  I hope Jackie and Elf had wonderful birthdays!

My chemo vacation week was anything but a vacation.  I had two platelet transfusions (Tuesday and Wednesday).  Started feeling human again by Friday.  Now I get to start it all over again on Monday.  Weee!

I'm doing good.  Been enjoying the times that I am feeling good.  I got to boss my husband around yesterday doing things around the house.  It was fun to be the supervisor.  At least it was for me.  We had a lot of laughs.

I'm so sad that another year is going by that I cannot do the Chicago Race.  I hope everyone is going has an amazing time.  A big thank you for the funds you will be raising.  Let's hope they help find the cure!

Well I guess I should stop posting and get back to work.  Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.

Wendy --- hope you saved me some of that food.  I think it is another peanut butter and jelly night for me.  Long day, but oh so satisfying.

WendyTY  Like most here --- I wish we could do some of that chemo for you.

Susan.....glad you got answers ---  Wendy gets rid of bogey men really well, doesn't she.  I'm glad you called her and I bet she is glad you called too.

Well I just had to go get tht PB & J so I'm going to run along.....I'm bushed and my nueropaihy kicked up a little so I'm going to put my feet up and pretend they belong to someone else.  See you all tomorrow.

    Big hugs, Jackie

hey ladies,  I was 2/hrs. north of home  (near where some of you live)  yesterday!

I went windmilling w/my guy friend.   He builds, restores and maintains old/ water pumping type farm windmills.   It's fascinating work to watch!

But we started in Plano, then went to South Barrington, Minooka,  and several others along the way.   Here's a pic from one of the pumpkin patch / farmers markets we went to.   I had warm cider and we were given a dozen pumpkin donuts  (I just had one for breakfast!)    It was a cloudy, chilly day .... but I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

Hey Susan, let me know how that homemade applesauce turns out!  It sure sounds pretty good to me.

I'm a little bummed this week.  Ms. Sissy, the feral cat that came abour four years ago, has been gone for 4 days now.  She seldom misses a meal and I'm afraid that something has gotten her.  I've walked the lane, the woods, the roads, and gone back into some old sheds that surround the area, calling and looking to no avail.  Hopefully somebody has her shut up in a garage or some enclosure and she'll reappear on the porch in a few days.  It's amazing how attached you get to animals.

Wendy TY...I hope this is a much better week for you!  Hang in there.  You are one tough Illinois lady and we're all behind you, cheering you on!

Jackie, I hope the feet are doing better today!

Laura, thanks for changing my email address on the updated addy list.  You keep us all up to date and we sincerely appreciate it.

I bought another Christmas present while at Menards today.  Now how exciting it that????   LOL

Well, I'm off to do some laundry before Dave gets back from visiting his sister and his Mom.  Then we're heading for Mexican cuisine before bowling tonight.  I haven't been doing very well on my balanced diet with no sugar lately.  I need to get back into the groove but we went to an old fashioned weiner roast last night and of course I couldn't pass up the S'Mores!

I hope everyone is having a good Sunday.  Hugs to all of you.

Hey.....applesauce is easy-peasy!  I have an old style food mill and just boil the apples til soft and then run them thru, peels and all.  It makes for pink applesauce....and I add NO sugar or cinnamon.  Really good and freezes well..

Susan...where is Woodstock did you go for apples?

Stephanie....Goebberts is about 10 minutes from me!

And....am I crazy or isn't Connie's BD 9/22????  That is what is on my list...  Oh well....Happy BD Connie...even if we are all early!

Hey...Bears won!  DH is so happy as there is a "free-view" of the RedZone on comcast..some silly football thingy.  And now I guess we will be ordering that too for $7.95/month.  I am thinking we will now never be leaving the house on Sundays!!!!!  Or that we will have parties all the time....

Just checking in to catch up.  Really got busy with work last week and then took off for Charlotte, NC to spend the weekend visiting our son and fiance and meeting her parents.  Big wedding coming up down there on December 11th.  So, now that I am finished with chemo and starting radiation in another week, I really have to whip this body back into shape.  Have to lose the seven pounds that I gained while on chemo.  I was warned that I would gain weight so am not surpirsed but now that the weather is changing, I am finding those seven pounds is making getting into some warmer clothes is a bit of a tight squeeze.   At least, I am back playing golf and will be back on the tennis court in another week.

My bigger problem is what my onc nurse said is "dry eye".  How annoying to have your eyes watering and red all the time.  Have been using eye drops but they don't seem to help much.  Anybody else have this symptom from chemo drugs?

Sounds like many of you are having a fun weekend enjoying the apple season.  I live very near Woodstock and there are plenty of apple picking places around.  One even has those wonderful Honey Crisp apples if anyone is hooked on those.

Happy Birthday to Connie.  Keep up the good fight Wendy.  Thanks Laura for the updated list.

    Happy B-Day Connie...

My DH is gone off to Switzerland for work until Wed..so it was me and all the kids yesterday.. now just me and the baby...

Starting to get hair.. not enough to take the wig off, but it's finally growing.. wasn't filling in at first.. I now have brows and lashes though.. very exciting.. Going to a Surgeon for an opinion, even with the clear mammo.. just to see what he says.. so was telling my MIL today that it's at the hospital by her house.. she asks his name.. well he operated on HER hernia in June.. how weird of a coincidence is that.. and I got his name from Julie!!

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend.. I wanted to take Gabs to a pumpkin patch but my DH said I'm nuts and it's too early as she has no clue.. Oh well..so I went to lunch with my girlfriends instead.. where the California Pizza kitchen waitress took out this HUGE book of ingredients and kept reading until she was able to create me a Pizza.. I ate the WHOLE thing.. YUM.. Oink.. :)

    Happy Birthday Connie!

Joan - I lived in Charlotte for ten years.  Moved back to Chicago last summer.  Still have a house there that I am trying to sell.  Love the Carolinas.

MakMak - My hair is finally coming in as well. Last chemo was June 18th and for a while there I was wondering if I will end up with bald spots.  I wear a wig when going out of the house and will probably do that for a while.  Hope the Arimidex does not start thining it out.

Char....I don't think the Arimidex affects the hair in any way so I think you're  safe there!

Well Connie, Wendy is right!  We're sending out birthday wishes a little early but that just means that you'll get more birthday greetings on Wednesday.

I have an entire day with nothing on my calendar except regrouping myself and this place!  Sometimes that seems nice.

Joan, I'm so glad that you're back into golfing.  It's very therapeutic!  Our golf season is beginning to wind down now.  I go from golf to bowling for the winter months and I only got out twice last week on the course.  Maybe there's such a thing as too much golf!  I did much better last week with the rest days.

I'm off and going this morning................still no fuzzy little cat looking in my glass-sliding front door.  I might scour the area again later today to see if I can find any sign of her.

    Have a great day!
