Hi Bonnie, If you think you've got fluid accumulating since your drains were pulled, it is really worth having it checked out. Excess fluid can lead to seroma ,and both the fluid and/or seroma correlate highly with developing LE. Some investigators think it is one of the biggest predisposing factors to LE. Don't mean to be the voice of doom and gloom...just to suggest it's better to make sure..

Thanks so much for the advice. I already have very mild LE, but my arm and hand are fine for now. I called PS this afternoon after the incision bled through my sports bra and told him about the swelling, bruising and bleeding. Apparently this is all "normal" for the type of surgery I had and, since PS is out of town tomorrow, I'm hoping he is right. This is an awful thing to say, but I really hope to never have to see him again. He's done all 5 of my plastic surgeries -- TE at the time of MX 10/08, clean up and necrosed skin removal after infection 2 weeks later, TE removal/implant placement 04/09, implant removal/2nd implant placement 12/09 and now final implant removal.

Good to hear this Bonnie.. I am just getting online and reading my threads.... I was hoping, by the time I read through them... you would have a post saying your PS said this was normal.. and you did... WAHOOOOO! Keep Healing sister!
Ladies... have a GREAT weekend....
MBJ...... I see you are helping her get to the picture forum.... I will check in there later tonight... I will vouch for her too.. if Fumi asks!

Bonnie -- I'm with Laura: glad you called your PS and got the ok. I hope you continue to heal!
And it looks like the question about the life of silicone implants also was handled.
So that leaves me with: hi and hugs to all

Bonnie: So glad everything is okay!
Laura: Thanks! I have been very busy lately and haven't had time to post much.

Thanks Laura, MBJ, Lilah and anyone else I missed! Last night I was in bed about 5 minutes when I discovered that the incision had bled through the surgical pad I had taped over it and made a big spot on my t-shirt (yes, I wear HOT lingerie!!). I got cleaned up and DH taped a folded surgical pad on top of the other pad so we could get some sleep. Then, of course, I couldn't sleep all night because I kept checking to see if the blood was soaking through again. It was a long, sleepless night, but this morning the pad is still dry and I'm leaving it alone and getting on with my day. My surgical site is very sore, bigger than when the implant was there and lovely shades of purplish black in the places that are visible. Glad PS told me this is all normal or I would be totally freaked out...
Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Bonnie: Glad the bleeding stopped. I know this is probably no consolation, but look at my first MX pictures and check out the purple "shiner" I had on my MX side! I never thought the bruise would go away and it still seems a bit darker on that side compared with my natural side. Soon you too will heal up! Gentle hugs.

Bonnie, of course it's good to check with ps. I was bruised from my armpit to my waist after having cc scar tissue and implant removed, yes it looked nasty. It took about 8 weeks to fade. Never had bruising like this with mx or exchanges, the surgeons just nodded as if this happens.
My implant each lasted 10 years.

Thanks Hurleygirly on the implant "life" info. That's a relief to know that replacement is covered. I didn't think these babies would last me til I'm 80! :-)
BonnieK: I hope you heal and feel better quickly. Glad your PS said it's normal.

If implant replacement averages every 7 years, it will be at 66, 73, 80 and then I think I'll quit and just wing it from there!

At least I'll look perky in my casket......even if the rest of me is wrinkled. hehe
travelgal--just read what you said to me. Thanks. I'll ask my gf if she wrenched it in some way.
Bonnie--reading through, I thought "Oh NO! She's been through enough!" So glad things worked out and you're healing.

happymom - 'At least I'll look perky in my casket.' LOL. Oh, I've spent more this month on bras
... and last night I found matching panties for the bras on sale so, of course I 'had' to buy them. I told a friend today that when they bury me they need to make sure that I have on my new, beautiful sexy lingerie.

Rebecca........ I prayed...now. (( hug))
If we have to replace the implants every 7 yrs... I doubt rads skin can deal with it. HM??? Maybe this is why my PS said... I should not need to do any replacement... unless I have a defective implant. I could not afford replacement evey 7 yrs...LOL.... It would cost me 4000.00 every time... as my insurance BCBS.... only pays 80% until I hit 4000.00 ( catastrophic)
Eeekkk...... I will have the MOST freakin' expensive breast implants EVER!
Here is hoping I keep mine for someeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee time !

On Tuesday, I had the start of my re-do reconstruction. OMG! I never thought I would feel such relief to have the TE put back in. My PS lowered it and now the connection between my arm and chest (does that have a name) feels so normal. Since the reconstruction, it has been so tight and uncomfortable no matter what exercises I did. I took a peek under my bandages and no longer do I have 3 inframammory folds but one smooth one. I can't wait to get the adhesive off so that I can really get a look. Oh and I hate the drain - praying that Monday my PS can remove it. It actually looks like a boob! Not a lump on my chest. She put in 350 cc to start, so it won't be too many fills to get to where I want. I have a band across my chest to keep the TE from migrating back up to my clavicle where my previous PS said looked fine to him! Thanks to all the great women here that encouraged me to take the leap!

Rebecca-thoughts and prayers are sent your well. Get rest and feel better.
Claire82-I am so happy you are pleased so far. This a very, very good sign. If the TE looks good already your implant is going to look fab! I know it was hard for you to go through it again but in a few months it will be all behind and you will feel restored and look beautiful. It's so important to be your own advocate!
