I know this is a somewhat off-topic question but has anyone been told they can't go in the sauna anymore? I thought I was told the sauna is off limits now that I have foobs. Anyone know anything about this?

lizzymack1 - I don't know from the perspective of having new foobs, but if you've had several lymph nodes removed a sauna is a no no because it can aggravate lymphedema.0

I had my final post nips/areolas with PS this morning. Things look pretty good except for some ripples in certain positions. PS thinks I have good outcome.
I was expecting another round of fat grafting. He said he wouldn't recommend it since it might work, might not. Plus he said insurance would not pay for fat grafting. PS said he just does it free when he does the nips/areolas. He said when insurance companies see lipo even though it's for the purposes of harvesting fat for reconstruction, they deny.
For those of your who have had fat grafts, do you know anything about this? Anyone have two rounds of fat grafts?

Deborah, I just got caught up with the posts and saw your post... I will send you some good juju...my husband's grandmother has that and she did tell me that the drugs that she has been taking for quite some time now, really help her. She just stopped actually playing tennis a few years ago and she was about 82 years old at the time!
Lyzzymack1, I only had one node out but my ps recommends the hot tub to keep your muscles relaxed. I think after exchange surgery though, that one needs to stay out of one for the first few months.

someone please teach me how to upload pictures into the picture forum. I browsed and then hit the attach and add more button, it looks like it's working but then it would stop. What am i doing wrong?

No Christina, that's not why it didn't work. It doesn't really matter how many pictures you upload. I guess your photo file must have exceeded the maximum file size (256 KB). Look at your photo file on your PC and right-click it and see "properties". If the size is bigger than 256 KB, you will have to resize it and make it smaller. If you don't know how, PM me. I will then give you my email address and you can email me the photos for me to resize them for you.

Hello Ladies
Can anyone tell me where I can go to view pics of breast reconstruction after bilateral mastectomy. The ones I am interested in are having implants, with least amount of surgery, I guess the skin saving types. Are there any links to those pics?

Got my post surgery appointment with my PS later. I have some rippling on the inner,top section =(((( mostly on the left side but i little on the right also.
What causes this?and can it be fixed??? feeling a bit low about that cus my new gtirls would be perfect if it wasn't for the rippling.... =(

Mstar: Have you posted pictures yet? Of course, it's early and they change ALOT!!! I've seen them after they are first done and they look all flat and wrinkly and then all of a sudden a few weeks later: POOF! They look like breasts. Walk away from the mirror. Right now is about making sure there isn't any complications or infections. Hope you are healing up quickly. Gentle hugs.

M-star I'm sorry your not happy. I'm having the exact same issue, everything is fine, but have major rippling. Did you post pics yet?

M-star I know it is frustrating to have the rippling but for most it if fixable. I had fat grafting and would like to report so far everything still looks great. I will probably get 1 more session but not sure I will see where I am in 2 months.
I hope your post op goes well cant wait for pics.
On another note-
I am bummed out my PS does not want me going to my walk on Sunday. I have a very slight what seems to want to be infection on my left foob and she does not want me doing anything to stress my self or my body. I was really looking forward to this.

This is probably not the right place to ask this question, but maybe it is general enough...
Last Tuesday, 10/26, I had my implant and capsule/scar tissue removed and took antibiotics for 5 days. This past Monday, 11/01, the drain was removed!! I feel pretty decent, but am sore and have quite a bit of swelling (fluid?) and the surgical area is pretty bruised. Is this to be expected after having this much work done? After MX I got an infection that started this way, so I'm a little freaked out. After both exchanges, I had almost no bruising, swelling or soreness after the first week. Thanks.

Whippetmom: So sorry to hear about your RA diagnosis. Having watched your mom go through it must be really hard to now get the same DX yourself. Hoping and praying you get it under control quickly.

Bonnie I also got the swelling after MX no infection so I hope everything works out. I would say check with your PS. Make sure to monitor your temp since it will usually go up if you are brewing an infection

m-star- It is kind of early so hope the rippling will resolve with the drop and fluff. I'm having the same issues and have been posting on another thread called "Visible ripples in implants". I think fat grafting is the only solution right now.

M-star - Please keep us posted. I noticed rippling about 2 weeks out as the swelling was going down and was devastated. For me, the why is because I have thin skin and it was stretched to the max for the implants. I noticed it most when I bent over and when my shoulders were hunched forward. It HAS gotten better over time. Remember you're very early out and things change over time. If you're not happy in a few months, many have found fat grafting to be helpful. [[[[m-star]]]

Hi everyone. I have a question that I keep meaning to ask my PS but forget to ask. How long do implants last? Mine are silicone. If there is a "shelf-life" to implants, does insurance pick up the cost of replacement since it was originally due to BC?

travelgal979, Silicone implants may last less than a year or twenty years! My friend has had hers since the early 90s when they weren't even the same style of gel inside and she is still doing fine and I have another friend who has had her salines for close to 15 years. My ps said that the manufacturers usually report something like a 7 year average I believe..(Deb prolly has these numbers down!). My ps said that she worries a bit when you go over the 10-year mark, but at the same time, she said that the materials keep getting better and better! The cost of the implants is actually very inexpensive...it's the surgery that is the cost and yes, insurance would cover the "exchange" just like they would cover an "exchange" if you wanted to change the type of implants you have right now. You would only need to get replacements if you aren't happy with how they look or if you find a slient rupture. I know some insurance will cover the 2-3 year MRI and some won't...just depends on your insurance I suppose.
