I've been posting on another thread called "Visible ripples in implants" and another member noticed that most of us who were dealing with rippling also had NSM. Just curious- is anyone who didn't have NSM also seeing a lot of rippling post exchange?

Kate: Many of us who did not have a NSM have experienced problems with rippling. It is a function of either insufficient coverage of the implant by the pectoral musculature, and/or thin skin. Rippling is due to the folds of the implant showing through the skin. For some, fat grafting helped and for others, increasing to a larger implant seemed to resolve the problem considerably.

Off to the PS this morning so he can see my incision -- the steri-strip came off and there is a gaping hole that is bleeding right in the middle. I'll let you know what he says.
My best to each and every one of you wonderful ladies.

There is a gaping hole in the middle of my incision and also a large hematoma. He has scheduled me for surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30 to clean it up, wash it out and add a drain. What a bummer...

having a few issues...can anyone advise?
1)i had my exchange 2 weeks ago tomorrow. my left side seems to have dropped or migrated slightly, making the upper pole fullness less on that side. Now the support bras i was told to get give no support at all.i might as well not be weraing them.
Is it possible that if i got sone firm support bras and started wearing them now, could the left implant heal back in its original place?? my PS originally said it takes 6-8 weeks for the implants to heal/adhere to my chest inside. if i push the implant up and in with my hand, the 2 sides match closely. I dont want to have to have them redone so i want to try and give them the support they need while they still have time to heal.
2) when i lift my arms to tie my hair back,i get a sharp pulling pain where mt IMF is. I only noticed this yesterday and it is very painful. Has anyone else had this same problem and does it resolve itself?
i wasn't told to do stretching this time-in fact-i haven't really been told to do anything or not! not sure if stretching will make it better or worse? But it feels very tight and painful.
if anyone can help id be most grateful

BonnieK - best of luck with the surgery tomorrow. Chin up it will get better:)

m-star - I would call his office about the drop of the one. Wish I knew more but I would definitely call your PS.
re the pain ... did he do any pocket work? If so, that could be the why. My PS did pretty extensive pocket work on my right side and it hurt for a while ... especially a pulling sensation on the inside. Did he put more alloderm in during the exchange? That could be part of the why too. It wouldn't hurt to ask your PS about the pain as well. I too was at a loss on what to do regarding exercises after the exchange. I did nothing. I think (and this is just me, if someone knows differently, please enlighten!) while you're healing it probably is best to not do much stretching, over-head reaching. I moved about two weeks out from my exchange and did far too much reaching. It hurt, alot!
I hope someone else can come along soon and give you more info! Hang in there, girl and keep us posted!

BonnieK - I'm sorry you're going to have to undergo surgery but I'm glad you went to see him and this is going to get taken care of. Praying for a speedy recovery!

M-star - my PS said no lifting my arms for about two weeks and no lifting anything very heavy for 6 - 8 weeks, as it does take that long to totally heal. After 2 weeks he had me start pushing the implants up and kind of in to keep them from adhering to the pocket too much. He also had me come in every week for a check - I would call and ask to be seen - hope it all works out. Valerie

BonnieK you will be in my prayers tomorrow. I hope everything works out for you.
The medicine has me living in the bathroom. The nurse came today and I swear the IV was only running 5 minutes and I had to go. Well we will see how things work out.

Rebecca -- at least you are in your own bathroom and not parading around the hospital room with your backside hanging out -- LOL! Hope you are feeling better and better. When do you see the doctor again?
I'll be off to the hospital at 5am with surgery at 7am tomorrow morning, so there isn't even enough time to get nervous. Can hardly wait until it is done and I'm back at home later tomorrow.

Wow! Just caught up on 5 pages and I was only away since maybe Thursday or Friday.. M-Star I hope everything works out for you. I has my exchange in August. I was not happy with my results. I have pretty deep divots very little rippling. So I went and got a second opinion and the new PS thinks that the implants I currently have are too heavy for my skin to handle. She said my skin is not thick enough to carry them. So i am having them exchanged at the end of January. I just hate the thought.
Rebbecca glad to hear you are feeling better.
Deborah you are the best. You help so many women on this thread. So glad we got to meet in Vegas. I am looking forward to next year to spend time with all of you ladies again. What a great trip!

M-star -- I agree you should be in touch with your PS. Also check out the Bras 101 thread that Val started... there is tons of advice there about bras that give good support. There is something called the Chic Shaper that can be purchased on line (google it) that fits over a bra and gives good lateral support if that helps. I would not do any massage of the implants, though, without talking to your PS. Healing with gummies is different than healing with smooth round silicone... so instructions should be for the gummy specifically. As for the pulling -- I did not have that. Did you have pocket work? Alloderm?
Bonnie -- so sorry you have to go back into surgery but so glad you did see your doctor quickly and that he is able to treat you fast. Did he say why this happened? Is it the rads skin?
Rebecca -- ugh so sorry about the runs but I agree with Dawn, at least you get to stay home!

Rebecca: So glad you are on the mend and I cannot believe what Abnerb did! So very nice!
Bonnie: I am so glad you discovered the source of the bleeding and that you are going to get it fixed tomorrow. Hopefully it will be quick and an easy fix. Try to sleep well and you will be on the mend in no time.
Karen: Good luck with your revisions!
Kay: I don't know enough about the gummies to be of any help, but if one has moved you want to call your PS. Val had a similar thing happen--you might want to PM her.

thanks for the advice ladies....
i did have some pocket work done, yes. They moved the implants inwards and from what i was told, also opened up either the pocket or the capsule at the top and i THINK a little underneath. It was an assisting theatre doctor that told me this-not my PS.
I will give my PD a call later whn i get back from town i think, just to check on things.I will tell them about the pain under my new breasts and also about my left side.

I just had my second exchange a week ago - the first was way too small and left my skin looking all wrinkly! Now looks better but there is a sloching noise when I am laying down and turn from one side to the other, I have silicone - don't know if it is just til all settles down or if this is it. Anyone else have this experience?

I just had my TE put back in and i must say it was a piece of cake. I took a bit of vicoden, but not much. We were going to stay overnight in the city because I wasn't sure i'd be able to do the train ride home, but we didn't stay. Pain was minimal compared to the mx. I took care of my granddaughter 2 days later. I was exhausted but not that much more than I normally am with a 2 year old.

Gunner considering you will have the lift as well I would say yes you will be in some pain. I don't know for you but I was wrapped up pretty good after my exchange. The pain was relieved by Vicodin for the most part. I was sent home so you will probably get stronger pain meds since you are gonna spend the night.
I hope you find peace and try to relax ans know you will be fine. I will keep you in my prayers.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask
Rebecca

Gunner -- I didn't have a lift but with the exchange, very little pain for me and was taking Tylenol on the second day. You'll be fine. I had the Tegaderm too. They didn't give me a bra but I wish I had one to wear for the ride home.

Gunner -- I had exchange (R) and lift/reduction (L)... if I remember right I was sore for a few days and had to be careful not to reach up for things... so you might want someone around for a day or two to help with that. After a few days I was fine, though, and was taking only tylenol for minor soreness.
The lift/reduction side hurt more than the exchange side -- but not a LOT more. The biggest issue for me was not reaching. Also: no lifting of anything heavier than 2 pounds for a few weeks.

Have you lifted my pocketbook lately???

LOL Claire -- yeah mine is heavy too! I carried a smaller purse for a few weeks with the BARE essentials in it. It almost killed me to give up my travelling sack of wonders

You said I can't lift more than 2 pounds. My DH looked really silly walking around NYC with my purse! lol

Yeah I realized and edited but you saw my "what?"! LOL

bnita: Thank you! I so appreciate prayers!
Exchange City is the most popular thread on bc.org! When you get your exchange date, PM mykidsmom [she started this thread] and she will post your surgery date! 0 -
m-star: I don't care if you walk around looking like a homeless person - KEEP THOSE ARMS DOWN!!! Forget about your hair!! When you have pocket work done, you need to be very careful...
All the other gals have given you great advice - and do go to Bras 101 as Lilah states. You need a good support bra which encapsulates the breasts and keeps them in the proper place.
