Laura: Oh...I have so much to say to you girl! I think you look great! You are not going to spend $3,000 at this point in time! There are so many new advances coming our way.....just hang tight and wait it out and maybe the insurance issues will change for you...you just never know! I do not know what concerns you have....you can always show me...let me reassure you....
((((:))))

Deborah and Val61, Thank you, thank you so much for your reply. I can't tell you how much it helps to get some reassurance from people who have been there! I am going to give it another week or two and then go back to my PS to see what he thinks. I think you might be right about the breast fold being a little lower on one side but wouldn't I have had the same problem with my real breasts. Before I go see him I think I will send you some pictures Deborah to get your thoughts...thanks for suggesting that.
Hugs,
Dawn

Deborah,
Thank you for your encouraging response. I never gave it any thought that there would be options down the road other than DIEP surgery if I'm not satisfied. I do think that once I have the expanders out and implants in that I'll be grateful for the exhange - certainly something more "natural" is welcome as everyone knows. I'll post after my surgery.

Thank you ladies I am sorry I did not post last night. I was hit with a bit of a shocker yesterday.
I have new cancer cells in the lining in my abdominal cavity.I have several options that I will have to go over and decide what to do. First I will get a second opinion as one option is to have them scrape it out during surgery and replace that lining with mesh so my guts don't fall out.

I know that sounds weird but that is how I understood things so I will now start a new series of doctors appointments. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I just want to scream!!!!
Well I really liked the guy I saw yesterday but I went for a 2 hour drive to nowhere yesterday after the appointment so I had time to play it all out in my mind by the time I got home had a bottle of wine and I did not feel up to the computer.
I cant say how good I feel having all of you praying for me. I know that is what is bringing me peace right now.

Rebecca: Is it possible that breast cancer might have saved your life? If doctors are feeling that these cells are indicative of gastric cancer [not related to breast cancer] this type of cancer is rarely found in the early cellular stages, because there are so few if any symptoms until the cancer has spread outside the stomach lining. You had a PET because of your BC history. So I am very encouraged and relieved. Did you go to someone contracted at Eisenhower? I would go to Kaiser San Diego or Kaiser Irvine for a second opinion. I am going to do some research this afternoon....
You are in my prayers!

I follow along on this thread when I can because I'm going in for exchange in about a month. I saw your post Rebecca and thought about you all night. I really hoped and prayed for you that it would not be cancer. Came on today to see if you had posted. I'm so sorry to hear this news. I don't post often here but wanted you to know that I am also here praying and sending healing thoughts your way.... this group is larger then you think.

Deborah I am so lucky to have you. I totally agree yes BC probably saved me. This is not a related cancer so I am very lucky to have found it. I have been recommended to go to the Kaiser Irvine so far but any research you do would be greatly appreciated. I am very nervous about any type of abdominal surgery because I have adhesion's from all the surgery I have already had.
When I met with the doctor yesterday he kinda joked and said "I really cant tell you have been through anything because you look so healthy for someone who is so very ill."
I did not know if I should hit him or laugh but I have to look at things more positively at least I am already on the antidepressants or this may have pushed me over the edge.

Rebecca: I thought about you all day yesterday, last night and this morning and just saw your post! I agree with Deborah, BC has saved your life! I am glad that they have a solution and getting two more opinions is a very good idea. My Onc told me all throughout my treatments how healthy I looked in comparison to his other cancer patients and you should consider this as being a positive thing--You will be better able to fight this beast! Sending you many good thoughts and love and light that this surgery will be your last! Big, big hugs!!!

Hi girls,
I have still been following this thread and mostly just reading but I have to say that I was quite disappointed to hear about Rebecca's most recent doctor visit. I agree with the other girls that the BC may have been a blessing indeed. Ms. Rebecca, I admire your courage and strength and will put you in my prayers. I hope that you enjoy the kids. You are right that it is a great distraction. Keep smiling and keep up the faith that all will be well. Sending many blessings your way. ♥

I learned more about the fat grafting I will have with the exhange tomorrow. It sounds a little more complex than I thought with additional pain and recovery (wearing padding and Spanx). Would like to hear from others who have also had fat grafting with their exchange. This is to address the side that had radiation many years ago. Thanks.

Rebecca, Have a great trip while youa re away and know that we are all thinking of you. I read aloud to my husband your doctor's response and we both kind of looked at each and said "wow..good bedside manner there doc". Love your sense of humor since it will get you through all of this. Hugs and prayers....

Annie -- good luck with your check-up -- I am focusing on good news for you!

Rebecca, you are one of the sweetest faces on this site. Get your second opinion, get your plan going, and beat this nasty business. In the mean time, have fun with your daughter and friends. Nothing like a bunch of ten year olds to provide needed distraction! Love and prayers, deekaay.

Joan: I have had fat graft transfer procedures twice. Yes, the Spanx are annoying, but be relieved it is winter and not summer - like it was for me the first time. Make sure the Spanx have a drop seat in them - you cannot be pulling that contraption up and down every time you need to use the ladies room. You will be fine. I was outside refinishing furniture the day after my second procedure and the second was far more intensive than the first.
