Stanzie, What a nice pic of your handsome father! Glad you were able to post it. About your DD, since I know she is adopted, I was wondering if somehow she feels she would be betraying her natural mom (whether or not she knows her) by being close to you? Do you two talk about her natural parents, where she feels she can come to you with any questions? I know you have given her unconditional love, and such a good home, but I was just wondering if she has some unresolved issues there? Other than that, just try to hang in there as best as you can, and when she is finally 19 or 20, she will probably realize how great a mom you are, and start being really close to you. HOPEFULLY it will be sooner than that, but if not, it should happen once she feels like she could be on her own. Teenage years are SO hard for all involved!!! That is prob why I didn't mind toooo much that my youngest DD got accepted to a math/science school several hrs away when she was 15! Saved us both from a lot of angst.
My DH has had such chest pains all day, and has felt terrible. He doesn't want to go to the ER yet, but I got dressed, just in case. He sees his heart dr this week, and I hope this time he tells him how often he has chest pains. Scary.
Take care girlz,
Kathy

Popping into the lounge for a dwink or four. Just read through all the posts from where I posted and want to again thank all of you for your kind words over our loss. So many of you have been in my shoes and know how it feels. I did pretty good today. I do have my two girls and they bring me great joy. And gosh, the last minutes I spend with Mocha were so very precious. I think he knew and was thanking me. He was giving me kisses and acting like a brave soldier. I took alot of pics from my cell phone of him kissing me. I can't look at them just yet as I am not in the mood for a tear fest.
Kitty, so very happy to see you here and happy that you are able to have a happy happy anniversary. I hope you have the most wonderful time of your life celebrating!
RW, I hope your DH is alright, so sorry you are dealing with this and I will pop into the chapel and say a prayer for him. I am glad you are prepared and hope he is not stubborn as most men are. I have a lot of praying to do and will be sure to include each of you. I am praying for my ex-fil, whom at age 85 had back surgery today. He made it through and is recovering.well. He is a wonderful man and I love him so much. He has been in a rehab due to mobility issues. He was in a state where he could not even feed himself. the surgery he has back spine surgery, to fix some nerves that connected to his legs, arms and hands. Meantime, my mil, at age 83 is so healthy, works out, volunteers and is so upset about the prosepct of moving to assisted living. Mind you, FIL retired about 20 years ago, then volunteered for the State Dept of Aging, was put on the payroll because he has a passion for helping others. It was his employer that told him that he could not come back to work until his mobility improved, the State was afraid that he would take a spill while on the time card....a blessing in disguise indeed.
So I find out today that my Dad's oldest living sister passed away. She was in her 90's. I am not able to attend the service as it is far away and frankly, I need to work.
So enough about my wild n crazy life....who wants to join me at the swim up bar? I have my swimmies on tonight cuz I think Murphy's law says I will drown if I don't use them har har har.
DH is here and I must give him attention. He has been so supportive of all of these happenings in my life, including the dog. He will not stay tonight though, back home he will go. Would love to have him here for good but we all know that it is not the time.
So that is my story n I am sticking too it. Thanks again for your overwhelming love and support and sorry that I am not responding to you all. I did read the posts and would love to have time to respond to each of you. But I have to cheer on Kymn's boys who are not looking so good....but game seven, should a miracle not happen tonight, will be THE ONE. That cup belongs to Kymn...just because she deserves it.
Love you all. Be good and if that is not possible, be careful ♥ DORK

Wow....my head is spinning with all this news. Promise it's not the wine.
Kathy.....praying that all is OK with your DH. This does not sound good. DorK.....hang in there. Hoping all works out with DH too. I was touched by your last moments with Mocha. I think he knew and was OK with it.
Here is an event I could cozy up to:
With the Wine Bar at Chocolate Box well into its second month of providing the perfect space to
indulge in the inspired pairing of wine and chocolate, we are now introducing Wine and Chocolate Pairing Events happening this summer! Come learn about perfect pairing from our own wine expert, enjoy a flight of three Washington wines with delectable Northwest chocolate (and cheese!) pairings, and enjoy a night on the town! However, I will have to make do with a private tasting of Wineglass Cellars at Tasting Room tomorrow evening. They are providing the wine. I am thinking of bringing a pate sandwich and something else to nibble on.
Just the most glorious sunset over the Puget Sound.
Picked some fresh sage on my balcony to go on my pork chop. Life is good. - Claire

Oh My - Claire is right - so much going on.... Kathy??? Are you sure you can't convince him to to go the ER? That sounds awfully scary....
Dorothy! Gosh.... Not even sure what to say...and on top of everything with Mocha....
Kathy- Yes we have talked a lot about her adoption it comes up every so often. First had such a magical fantasy idea of what her birth Mom and home was like. However as she has gotten older she had understood more and has done some school work on Russia so basically she has a more realistic view. I also saved a lot of the newspapers from that time so she can get a real understanding. But thanks I will certainly keep that in mind.... Hope everyone has a good and safe and well night.

Well, no trip to ER.....he gets chest pains a lot, and has a valve prob, etc., so maybe the heart dr can see what else is going on. Thanks for everyone's concern!
DorK, So sorry about your aunt passing away. And about your former FIL's surgery...but glad that the surgery went well. You have had not only a full plate lately, but SEVERAL full plates lately.....like a whole table full. Be sure to take care of yourself, with all this stress!
Nighty nightcap girlz,
Kathy

Ripstick is a cross between a skateboard and a scooter (I think)...or maybe a snowboard with wheels.....I think its made by Razor who makes scooters....all the kids in upper elem through middle and into high school at our synagogue have them....its so cute to watch DD ride...see her cute little butt wiggling back and forth....Speaking of DD...she got rubber bands on her braces today and it is making her mouth sore....ortho told her that when she is done with the rubber bands she is done with braces...but who knows how long that will be...she officially got them this past Oct, but got her expander in Aug...so almost a year since we began with ortho....
Kathy...hope your DH is feeling better....my DH has had a couple heart scares.....since he has a significant family history his doctor sends him to the ER..I think the last one was 6 1/2 years ago, or that is the one that sticks out in my mind....
Just finished a wonderful glass of wine...had 2 glasses with home made pizza....oh was it yummy this time...the best my crust has ever been...no leftovers...everyone chowed down!!!
Going to go get into bed and read...its relatively early here (11:15).....DH leaves for San Fran tomorrow till saturday night.....so its just us girls...well DS is also here, but its not the same...never know what he's doing...but actually since he's been back and jobless he eats at home more....have lots of leftovers that we'll eat the next couple days....oh yeah....sweat dreams one and all......

Great idea, Gail. Wanna get the Tattie Tenders and Wenches started on it?
Karen, So sorry your DH has had heart probs too.....so scary. I lost my late DH to a heart attack right after coming home from open heart surgery. And my DH now, had a heart attack yrs ago, and has other heart probs. Not fun. Think you and the kids will have a lampshade partay while your DH is away? J/K.....but that WOULD be funny!
DorK, I do hope today is much better for you than the past few days have been. Hang in there! Kymn, how are you doing??? NM, DId you get to play in the garden? There is a 3-hr moonlight canoe trip down the river nearby, but I know we aren't ready for THAT yet! Who knows what lurks in the night waters in the river? Took my mom to see the snake dens yesterday...yikes. Plus saw 2 herons there and the baby heron way up high in the nest, quite aways away. Love all the wildlife that is just around the corner. A few small turtles swimming by the spillwater, and of course lots of ducks. Very sad today as my parents leave tomorrow. I don't think they plan to be back here till Sept. Sob, sob.....
Well, take care, lovely loungettes!!! Happy day-after that day we don't mention here!Bottoms Up! Titz Up! DILLIGAF?

Thought I better report in! Had a fun weekend, found some treasures for our town. Had a fabulous filet mignon for dinner at the hotel. My favorite bartender/friend has moved on, I was so sad to hear that, and need to get a hold of her to find out why. I have 3 pages to catch up on! Briefly wanted to say how I laughed at DorK portending about the surveillance cameras and Kathy saying NO NO NO! DorK, you took doggie pill? Dint someone else here do that too? Yeppers....thank you Mitch for confirming it was Astorm. And then Junies chalk story, that was just the best, what a memory! Were you able to get pictures? Kymn, so so sorry for the troubles you're a$$hole DH is causing, I hope I read later that things are getting better.
Well the fire is still horrid and has now, I believe, become the largest in AZ history. Only 10% containment and the wind just doesn't want to stop. There is not much talk on the cause and I have even heard that there was someone arrested, but that is just a rumor. But they are saying it was human caused, of course, as we have not had any bad weather.
Ok, back to reading............hugs around and drinks too!0 -
Welcome back Lori!!!! Glad you had such a great time, but sorry the bartender/friend has left. I hated to hear that the horrid fires were caused by an a$$hole person. That person can NEVER repay all the loss of wildlife, trees, homes, and disrupted lives. It is just so stupid, whether they did it intentionally, or left a campfire w/out putting it ALL the way out, or threw out a cig on dry grass. No excuse for something like that!!! Hoping the wind dies down and they can contain the fire. Enjoy your reading....we never disappoint.....lots of interesting posts, thats for sure. But sadly DorK had to put Mocha down, and we all were feeling her grief and sadness. Thanks for the drinks! I called the county dept to ask about the snakes, and from what I described, the agent "thinks" the 2 dens are the non-poisonous snakes, but that there are prob other snakes, including water moccasins in the lake (or swampy area over the spillwater)..and they are not only poisonous, but aggressive. IN other words, they would come after YOU....yucko.... I NEVER want to fall in!!!! He said he doesn't live too far away, so am hoping he will check them out and let me know for sure.
Okey dokey.....gotta get some stuff done.....just wanted to welcome Lori back!!!!

I had a beautiful. long, fully illustrated post going and POOF it disappears! ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! I hate it when an hour's worth of work just vanishes like that! I think a Toga party would be fun, I've never been to one before. Time to go play with Sadie, later, Loungettes!

Karen--sounds like you are getting down the basics for your trip--it will all work out and be just fine. I'm not too sure how much the ipad2 cost is...what I looked at briefly was @$400 for basic; we added the 3G for travel capability, and some other accessories (prob all unnecessary, but what the heck!) and think total was @$800. I know they are advertised for much cheaper on some of the on-line auction sites but DH kind of afraid to trust those. And, this all happened so quickly that I didn't have time to get our resident HTL supersavvysavingsshopper involved----sowwy Wahine--know you would have saved me some money!!!!)
Welcome home, Lori...so hard to catch up if we miss even half a day, isn't it? Wow--now another western wildfire at Carlsbad Caverns in N.Mex--that's where DH just returned from. All the toursists at the Caverns were evacuated and the news said they were deciding to evacuate the town of White's City--huh? can't imagine calling the 3 or 4 buildings there a town....one "tourist trap curio shop" that we've stopped in several times.....anyways, about 18 miles from where DH's mom lives but mostly deserty and no big trees in between. Bet the smoke and haze are awful.
Stanzie--re your dau--it's hard to do but bite your tongue and bide your time.....my dau's recent visit still has me in semi-shock. She is 41 yrs old and this is the FIRST time we've been together in the same room where we weren't arguing/yelling/not speaking after 5 minutes!!!! And, that instant push my buttons goes back to before she could speak in whole sentences! So,there is hope--just may take time.
yeeee-haw! A TOGA par-tay...I'll being the moussaka and baklava! Tried to post a pic of some but the pic was so humongous--had to dele it). But, have another problem--all toga party pics show WHITE sheets! The only white sheets I've seen for years are in hotels and hospitals.......does anyone have plain old white sheets in their linen closet? (or, in my house, sheets are thrown on the bottom of a closet so as not to have to fold and put away--LOL). Always up for a par-tay at the HTL!!!
ahhhhhh-the Moussaka and Baklava are baked--here I come in my pale blue toga; do have a laurel wreath on my head.....and, my gold sandals are encrusted with bright, shiny, jewels (real ones, 'cause this is the HTL) Big hugggsssss to all.......uhhhh, what else do we do at a Toga pr-tay besides eat, drink, and be merry????? Guess I'll find out!!!!
HAIL, BACCHUS !!!!!!

didn't do anything for the trip today....threw some things out in the basement from my old job...after trash pick up, I quit...DD and I went to the pool...it was gorgeous out....sat and read...water was cold so only went in for a couple min (me)...I'm not good with sunscreen because of the smells but I am pink on the left side...so need to be better about it...Thursday I am taking DD and a friend to a small water park....so will need to be sure to put sunscreen on.....
Enjoying my 2nd glass of a favorite Isreali Merlot...it is good.....will have to have another glass so I can finish off the bottle!!!!...just poured the last glass and it is full, full, full....
Going to finish on the computer, watch the news and then get in bed and read..Sweet dreams

Took my parents to the airport at 5 am.....got "maybe" 2 hrs of sleep as went to bed around 1 am and DH thought we were supposed to get up at 3 am instead of 4 am....SHEESH!!! Well, I had more choice words than that, at the time. So very sad right now, and very t-i-r-e-d. Will have to work at the condo this afternoon, as we had put it on hold the past few days. Not too much left to do, then hoping to get it rented quickly. "Aflac" the big white duck, had been coming right up into their courtyard to get fed....he will surely miss them. Later on, I will try to post some pics of some of the wildlife I saw yesterday, around the corner from their house. Was really awesome.
When is the toga partay???? If we wait till Saturday, we can have a combo Toga/Birthday Partay for our very own JuneBug! (Did I remember the correct date, Junie?). Not sure I would be ready for a party tonight. How is everyone doing???
Happy Humpity Hump Day!!!

Risque Whiskey, sorry you are tired. I thought I was tired with five hours sleep. Taking the day off, a mental health day.
I know you will miss your parents but before you know it they will be back.
I have so much to do today, I worked til 10pm last night as I knew I was taking today off. I think Kathy and I should hit the lounge and have a nappy in the hammock.
The toga talk and pics are sooooo funny. I read through all the posts from where I left off. As I read up on all of you, I wanted to talk to you all but you know me, too much to say and too little time. I am off to see the Doc, that is the pool store expert. I am battling algae after last weeks heat and have to get IT before it gets out of control.
My two fur babies are very distraught, not eating right and my Mandi actually peed in my bed last night, she has never done that before. So I was up way earlier than I wanted to be, have the matress pad in the dryer, sheets in the wash then the comforter goes next. I scrubbed the mattress with light soap on a cloth although it did not penetrate through, just a bit damp. I have the ceiling fan on high. TMI, huh? I dare not tell DH, he would kill me. Mandi has been hiding in my hostas and acting weird. Bella seems to be pacing alot, probably looking for Mocha. I am dealing well with this, way better than I thought. I am at peace with the fact that it was time. He was such a good old boy. I still look for him at his favorite corner of the pool watching and listening to the water. I hope there is a big pool in doggy heaven. I still have his collar and want to get his name tag off and save just that. I but got rid of everything else. Even bought a new water bowl as the old one reminded me too much of him.
I will be back later today, fur sure! And NM, sucks about the lost post, more so than the rest of us losing them as you work so hard and I know you are passionate and it had to suck the big one to lose that in a blink of the eye.
To all, may you, your families, DH's, SO be well and make you all happy. I feel for all of you having issues with the kids, husbands and friends.
Kymn, I will be watching your boys tonight with you. Love you all....be back later but can't possibly ketchup. Cheers!! And no Kathy you do not look like you give a f---k!
Cheers, beers, barstools, and Hammocks, oh yeah... and breakfast with Pants....tata, my taddie fweinds. ♥
ps Kathy, goodness, take the day off and join me!!! You never stop woman!!!

Whew! I am caught up finally. Not going to reply to much tho. The fire is still horrid, not as much wind today, but the next 3 days it will pick up again. They say on tv that the wildlife mostly know how to handle these types of situations and will flee, of course there will be some that will parish tho. They are now worried about the land when the monsoon season gets here and mud slides! We are seeing less smoke as the fire moves east and I believe they have 20% containment.
Loving the Toga party. My daughter and her hubby went to one, here are few pics of them. I just love what they did. No sheets tho, all leaves!
Well, been trying to load the pictures and my connection is just too weak. I'll post them later from my office computer........I promise!

Goldie..love the pic...I would be too chicken to just do leaves!!! but then again, I'm not as young as I used to be..
DorK....I still have the two food bowls from my berners...one is stacked on top of the other and that is what Bear uses....DD #2 kept the collars (I think)....the dogs are buried (ashes) in the back yard....want to find a nice/cute placque to put over the area...right now a little garden fence I had from last year is covering it...
I can't believe that I leave in one week....need to run some errands today...thought DD would go with me, but a friend just called her....so it might be on own.....DD just needs to get toiletries and snacks for camp....I want to check out another Target for their clearance rack and get DH some russian vodka and beer for Fathers Day...Oh....DD just told me that her friend is coming over at 12:30, so I better go run my errands now......2 hours is plenty!!!!! Kathy--you remembered right! Sat is my BD. I feel like I'm bout 90 yrs old but, dang, I still can't apply for Medicare!!!! Crappola! But, I'll be up for a PAR-TAY!!!!! Know you're sad to see your parents leave again, but they'll return, soon.
yukko--tomorrow I gotta spiffy up a tad (like in wear real clothes and fix my hair...) Got to travel to county seat and renew my driver's license. Also need to take the paperwork to get my permanent handicap parking permit. Am wondering if anyone will question my ability to drive with oxy--I haven't driven and no dr has said I can't and I could if I had to, so hoping it isn't a problem! Don't want my license to expire--could pass a driving test, but not sure about the written part!!!!
BBL for a swim, sit in the hot tub, and reeelax in a hammock!

Hi LadieZ.....
Junie.......my uncle drove for at least 2 years with portable oxygen tanks, including solo from Tennessee to Vermont. I am still wondering what the officer who pulled him over for doing 60 in a 35 mile zone thought. My uncle was late for teaching Bible study, so he was trying to make up time.
All.....had a wonderful time at the wine tasting last night. Got in free as a Wine Club member and tasted all sorts of wonderful stuff. Learned a lot about WA State wines too.
Just booked indoor camping arrangements for the Seattle-to-Portland. So my friend Amanda and I have a place to stay. It's 3 weeks away, but was lucky to find something. Free dinner and breakfast. Now to find a sleeping bag and air mattress.
No real progress on the job hunt front, but did spend part of today on a Webinar to stay current. Interesting how I had forgotten about some of the operational stuff I have managed so nice to have that refresh. Plus more online work and thought about what I bring to the party.
Circling back to see if any work with current client, but suspect no. Just a cheerful catch up note,as did not want to give the game away.
Paid bills while on the conference call to reclaim multi-tasking skills. My head is getting more and more in the game.
All of which was set in motion by the conference I attended six weeks ago..... - Claire
