I just sent her a message saying I would be there. Thought your onc was tomorrow but it was today.Great news JO!!!

Sandee - Your calendar is playing tricks on you. My onc was yesterday - great visit - next visit in 6 months. Today was the GYN for biopsy results - B9. I have had so many appts this month I am sometimes confused myself.

Jo woohoo on B9. That is great news. Now you are a free women for a while. I am also sleeping great these days and no more hotflashes.
Sandee you must have just needed the sleep more than you needed therapy today.
Alicia glad you are finally feeling better.

Jo, good luck w BS next week. After that you can let us know what it feels like to be dr free for 3 mos. I am going to my biannual onc checkup next week. I've only met her twice so far. Once post dx and the next time in January, though we've been in touch due to the addition of the lupron shots. Don't seem to do much at these visits. She does a quick physical exam then asks if im ok, etc. This time I'll bring my stack of papers, copies of the BS report from March (all ok) the mammogram and the MRI, results of the cyst biopsy (b9) last month, latest blood tests, results of colonoscopy (all ok) and the latest liver scan showing gallstones. Do any of you feel like you need a secretary just to manage all of this? And I'm not even talking about the insurance component. I have two full notebooks already and feel like lugging them around should count as weight training. Day after her visit I have an appt with docs who will do vaginoscopy. I pushed for this one as I am a DES daughter and read that it's a good thing to have. Not that worried about it though, no symptoms. After that, assuming all goes well I could conceivably have the summer off, too! Right now that short term goal is my wish. Baby steps.
Alicia, I'm glad you're feeling better on the antidepressant. I toy with the idea of starting one as I think it would help me though I'm not in a deep depression. Biggest problem is generalized anxious
feeling at night. Doc prescribed taking a half a Xanax each night which helps me sleep and reduces
the anxiety. It's a very small dose and I don't use it during the day so don't feel like I'm getting
addicted by needing to increase the dosage. So far it's working and every time I think I can go off of
it I've had another scare or 'event, to deal with so he recommended not yet. Feel a bit weird about
this as I've never been one who takes meds and now I seem to take so much. Asthma meds too.
Coming up on one year is also making me kind of anxious. Feels great, don't get me wrong; but it is
an emotional time. Thinking back to this time last year and all that has changed. I'm grateful for how
well I'm doing (thank God!) but also bittersweet about how life has lost a certain innocence. This time
last year i was planning a trip to the states to visit my family and one of the pre travel items on my list was to get my routine mammogram. Needless to say, i missed my trip last summer. In some
ways the dx caused me to make changes for the better in my life (though now that I'm feeling better
and able to return to a routine I'm having trouble not reverting to my workaholic frenetic life that was
so familiar, though not healthy...another topic.)
Thanks for allowing me to ramble, girls. It's 5am...may try to go back to sleep. Have a great day,

Shari - Two full notebooks??? I have scanned all my documents and put them on a flash drive that I can carry in my pocket. Every doctor I have seen or test I have had - everything is sent automatically to my onc.Good luck to you on your onc visit. You willl have to let us know how it goes.
I know what you mean about a turn of events last summer. I had so many plans that had to be placed on hold. Somedays I still can't believe I had BC. In the back of my mind, there is still that bit of denial. But now, all is well with the world and I am moving on.
I try to take as few meds as possible but I have to tell you I am kinda liking the amitriptyline. Not only is all my pains gone but I am sleeping the best I have in years. Don't feel like I need that afternoon nap to make it through the rest of the day.

Paula we will be with you.
Jo we finally got rain last night. Hope it makes it your way. It is dark and raining right how. I am so thankful.

Paula - What time is your appt on Friday? I need to gather up the girls so we can jump in your pocket and be with you when you go. I have a feeling everything is going to be great. All I have heard these days is good news and you will add to that.
Sherry - Today and tomorrow is supposed to be our best chance of rain but I am not holding my breath. In parts of the park, the ground is so dry there are huge cracks in it.

Jo I checked out weather forcast and it is to rain all day and only get to 90degrees. That almost feels cold. hehe
0 -
Sherry - I would be getting my long pants and sleeves on if it got down to 90 here. LOL! Push some of that rain down here. Check the local weather map and there is rain west of us but looks like it is going to fall apart before it gets here. That's typical.

Just catching up after 2 really busy days. I missed alot of posts. June, I am so sorry. Your father is at peace but it is hard. Your kids will be ok. You are a good Mom. They will learn how to cope and how families heal after a death of a loved one. The hard parts of life. The obituary was nicely written. thanks for sharing it with us. Take care of you now.

That is a good idea. Even though all of my doctors are liinked together in the same clinic I remember the day I got a call from from a PC nurse who asked me if I ever followed thru with the mammogram that they had schedudled for me. Mind you this was 2 weeks after I had found out I had BC. It kinda freaked me out. I had to tell her yes I did and I have cancer. She was quiet for a time In the course of our converstation I asked her if they were all linked together. Yes she says, then goes o Im sorry here it is. I was in shock for abit. Im glad that he is not my regular PC and that I see his NP instead. Shes great and will take lots of time and her nurse is great to. Im not being ungreatful but please take the time to read the info on front of you before you make calls like that. So it looks like I will be scanning asd learning how to put this info on a flash drive this weekend. Hey I will learn something new from this. Thanks Jo!
Thanks Tink! The extra wings are a good idea.
Shari I know what ya mean. Everytime I went form chemo I got myself worked up. I would get to the point of almost making myself sick as the time got closer. This appt I have to just hold it together and not let my mind go wild. Thanks!

I have all my records in a notebook but like the flashdrive idea. May have to scan everything.

Paula, Thinking of you and hoping all goes well at the ONC today. I remember the chemo days. I too would make myself entirely sick and anxious the Sunday before, I had chemo every other Monday for 16 weeks.
I had my 6 month check up with my breast surgeon that did my double mastectomy today. ALL is good she feels no lumps or anything. Showed me how to examine myself and where the edge of the implant is and what is normal to feel. She said 99 percent of my breast tissue was removed and if I was to have it come back in the breast it is usually on the prophalactic side. I don't have to see her anymore unless I feel any changes. I will still see my Oncologist and Gyno every 6 months.
So that is good news !
Hope everyone is having a good day. I am making dinner already. 2 trays of eggplant parm ! I usually make it for hubby for Father's Day but wasn't feeling good so figured this rainy day is perfect to do it !

Alicia - More good news! Wow - that is great on the 6 month check up. It is always good to shorten the list of doctors you have to see.
0 -
Alicia so good that you are on a 6 month as well. I can't wait until I reach that every 6 month checkup

Hi Ladies!! Hope everyone has been well...I havent been here for a while to post but have tried to keep up with reading...you guys move fast!
I am almost at the one year mark on T but have taken a week here and there off for surgery. I have been SE free other than I swear I've gained weight.
Lately however, I have been so nauseous. Some days I take anti nausea meds but they make me so drowsy...any body have a remedy that works but doesn't make ya drowsy???Diane

Diane - When I started T, I was nauseated all the time. It took me a couple of weeks but I found out that if I take mine in the morning with a big glass of milk I am okay the rest of the day. Been on T for 6 months and no problems.
