Paula, forgot to mention that omega 3 also really helps w joint pain. Zometa symptoms were less severe this time and i think this could be why. Someone also mentioned an article (in medical news today, dont have the link but you can google it) that it enhances the efficacy of tamoxifen. Overall its supposed to be good for you but try to get the kind that says mercury-free.
Jo, i have your back on the kitchen. Let me know if you have any design questions or need anyone to yell at your contractor. (really glad you are doing it and focusing on something new and nice.)
Happy wkend! Shari0 -
Shari have a great weekend with the hubby.

Shari - I have known my contractor for a long time. He replaced our roof after a hurricane several years ago. At least he told me up front that he is not good at painting. I told him I would take care of that part since I am really picky and I will be doing two colors. I have a medium gold on one wall for contrast and a eggshell white for the other three walls. I will see if I can take a picture of the paint samples and send them to you.

Shari ~ sorry about your feeling sad, but glad after a good cry you feel better. It is like we get hit with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder every now and then. Being diagnosed with BC is surely life altering. Hang in there.
I am sorry so many of you are having joint pain, but makes me feel like I am over reacting with my pain. Still awaiting a approval for the bone scan...............
I also need to ask my onc at my next appt why I am not getting zometa?! grrrr.... sounds like many of you are.
Happy Friday Girls !

Zometa is usually give for mets to the bones. My Dad is on it for his lung mets to his ribs. I think it used to be given as a preventative for BC patients but then at the San Antonio conference they came out with something about it was not approved with FDA for that protocal or something. Not sure exactly. Maybe someone else can chime in here what they are using it for.
I think it is also used for osteoporosis.

I searched on BCO and found this information
Recent results on Zometa and recurrence?
Page last modified on: December 23, 2010
Question from Lise: Please comment on the results of the most recent study of Zometa and recurrence and how the results differ from previous studies of the same. Thank you! Answer -Eric Winer, M.D.: The results of the most recent study indicate that Zometa does not prevent a recurrence of breast cancer. There is one large study that was reported approximately 2 years ago that said that Zometa might prevent recurrences in young women who are placed on medications that put them into menopause. The most recent study does not appear to support that finding, and as a result, doctors should be very thoughtful and very selective about the use of Zometa to prevent recurrence. Many doctors will decide not to use it whatsoever in this situation, which is certainly reasonable. All drugs have side effects, and drugs like Zometa, while reasonably well tolerated, can in and of themselves cause problems.
On Wednesday, December 15, 2010, our Ask-the-Expert Online Conference was called Updates from the 2010 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. Eric Winer, M.D. and Marisa Weiss, M.D. answered your questions about the latest updates on breast cancer risk, screening, and treatment in early and metastatic breast cancer.

Back from my GP and all is well. He has agreed to do the refills on my amitriptyline and monitor the pain. He will get records from pain specialist. 3 more appts this month and then I am appt free until mid Sept. GP wants to see me every 3 months. The rest of my appts this month are just routine - to me anyway - Monday is MO, Tues is gyn for test results and the BS on the 28th.
My weekend is already filled with lots of things to do. Have to get the gardens cleaned out early in the morning before it gets too hot, then I have to start taking things down in the kitchen - curtains, pictures, cornices boxes, etc before the contractor gets here on Tues. Finally getting started on the kitchen - Yea! Sure feels good.
No pains, no complaints and not feeling guilty about doing this good. 10 months to the day is when I received my cancer diagnosis. Both days were the 17th of the month and also on a Friday - how ironic. Will really celebrate in 2 months.
HUGS to everyone.

Today is my cancerversary....the day I had the dreaded mammogram where the technician said ' I am just going to do the left breast again. I don't think I got everything under your arm"....I went to chapters on the way home and read a breast cancer book....my day will be done in 13 minutes and then I am going to bed...this week has been a success.....cancer free diagnosis, no lymphodema, running on the treadmill, rowing twice and visiting a lad I adore at the hospital and seeing huge progress....tomorrow I am going to celebrate with wine with a friend who lives by the ocen and Sunday I am going out for brunch with th roomie who saw me through the diagnosis to surgery stage ot cancer.
To all those with an anniversary coming up or a dr. appointment ....YOU CAN Do IT!!! The 24 hour rule worked well for me for the past year...well, two really....just remind yourself that you have come this far, that others have gone ahead in the journey and hav egone even further and that there are lots of helpers along the way!

June-I so feel for you sister. We all love our Daddies and it is so hard to see then when they get this way. I'll be praying for you and your family.
Sandee-Happy cancerversary, what a year it has been. And yes we have to remember the 24 hour rule, love it.0 -
My father passed away at 4:00 this morning with my mother and a few of us by his side. I must say I don't know what was harder, mourning for my Dad or watching my Mom go crazy and constantly ask over and over again about her man and where did he go??. My heart aches. The nicest thing they did was bring a hospital bed and put it next to my Dad so my Mom could be near him. She did not sleep all night until 20 minutes before he passed and she was heart broken she was not awake.....her Alzheimer's makes this even more difficult for us family members.

June - So sorry to hear the news. Sending (((HUGS)))

June, I am so sorry to hear that about your father. I will have you and your family in my prayers.

June- I am so sorry your dad wen through the spring he went through and then passed in this way...your mom was beside him in sleep as she was for decades....there is a kind of beauty in that if she can see it once her heart calms. I wish I could be there to hold your hand throughout the next period of time...keep kleenex in your pocket my friend...cry when you need to...let others do things or do them all if that is what you need to ge tthrough the next bit...sing loudly when his favourite somgs come on in the car....it all helps. Holding you close and sending you gentleness and calm
Sandee
