Just got back from San Antonio having dinner with friends. Went to a really neat Belgium Bistro although not cheap
(DH is so small town sometimes he asked our friends if they had waffles).
Then went to a desert place that was really quant. Had a great time and it was nice to see their daughter who is moving to California in 2 weeks. We have know nher since she was a young girl, she is now a professor and got a job at a College out there. She wants me to come visit her. So I am sure her mom and I will make a trip. Ainm--Wow 100lbs that is wonderful and two years on tamox. I have lost weight on tamox but I need to gain weight to have surgery and I think It is going to be hard and I wonder if the tamox has anything to do with it.
Ruth2011-Welcome to the group-it is a great bunch of ladies to hang out with here and ask questions of. I had a lump and rads, no chemo and now tamox. I will be having a BMX when I gain enough weight to be able to have it. I ended up with permanent nerve damage that I am on meds for and I want to get off the meds and cut down my every 6 months scans. I did not like that roller coaster for the rest of my life. With Tamox I had some pretty bad SE's at first but my MO kept telling me to hang in there my body would adjust. I really thought he was just giving me a bunch of bull but he was right and at about 2 1/2 months my body adjusted and the SE's all went away. I just have some warm flushes every now and then and a vaginal discharge that is very tolerable. Since I did not do chemo I feel like I need to do everything else I can to not get this beast again. So tamox it is and I have also really worked on my exercise and diet. I am also 49 and did not take any drugs before BC, not I take all kinds of supplements.

June where is your place on the Cape. We have been there once and stayed in a really neat B&B on the main rd. If I remember is it highway 6 or something. I loved it there it was so laid back. DH is a early riser and went down the road to a cafe thinking he would get some coffee, but they were not open yet and was not going to open early and I think it was about 7 in the morning. So he had to wait.

My most common side effects seem to be similar to PMS: tired, a bit bloated, somewhat irritable, a little jittery, trouble sleeping. But, nothing I haven't experienced before. All tolerable, but would like for these SE's to be gone!

A big welcome to the many new girls !
Tink you were eating a twinkie? too funny ~ probably thought it was a TINKIE !

Chabba ~ glad to hear you are feeling better, sorry you were sooo sick. AND I think I found some of those 15 lbs you lost, I will be sending them back to you.
My hot flashes that were pretty much gone are back again. I was given the generic tamoxifen for a few months and think it has something to with that. NOW am on the name brand for whatever reason that happened and have horrible hot flashes again. I am freezing the family out with the a/c. And after my hot flash of course comes the cold so I have a blanket handy when relaxing. UGH !

Dang I missed drinks!!! I use to be able to stay up passed 10pm now I cant!
Sherry I can so relate to your friend and her daughter moving. It is so hard. I just cant seem to move on with it either. I talked with her for 2 hours the other day and then ending up crying for 2 more hours after I talked to her. The upside to our convo was that she may move to Calafornia if her roommate gets to home sick for her parents. I would so love that.
My hubby is so country too Sherry, I love it though! He lives for everything deep fried, and swimming in grease. Meat and taters is all he eats, ugh. Do you know how many of them I have peeled in the last 22 years? My mom is still trying to figure out how we hooked up. We are both completely differnet, but somehow it works
Have a great weekend all. Im off to the local tat shop today for some new ink. Im not sure yet what Im gonna get yet but I still have time to think about it. Hubs will just love it, NOT! But he will get over it, he has before. My mom on the other hand will not. I tease her all the time about them and she just cringes. Sometimes I do it just to tease her. Several of my family have BC related tats and we tease her that its her turn to get one. No is her answer, lol. I love her though but its just so much fun teasing her that way.

Paula ~ good luck with the new ink ! I got my first one at 37. I now have 6. I love them all ~ this one is on my inner ankle. Hubby and the guy in the tattoo parlor drew it up. I want the word "breathe" on me next. Running out of hiding spots.

I tried to post a pic of my breast cancer one on my ankle and it was a HUGE picture. Good luck today Paula !

Paula post a pic with what you get. I am not brave enough for a tat.
I have been canning again today and putting up Okra in the freezer. My tomatoe plants are just about gone. But I am planning my fall garden and I am going to try several greens. Hopeing I'll have plenty to put in the freezer. After I get through will all this I am making dirty rice with sausage tonight and salad. Gotta have something healthy in there.

In response to an earlier post about Tamoxifen SE's being like PMS.....That is exactly what I am experiencing. Been on Tamox now for 3 weeks and I feel like I am in a perpetual state of PMS. I did have a hot flash yesterday morning BUT I am about to start my period and I have hotflashes just before I start anyway. We shall see...So far not terrible.

Hi Jo, can you tell me what boosts are? Also what SE did you have from the Aramidex and the Fumera? I am leaning toward starting with Tamoxifin and see how it goes. I'm still asking lots of questions and reading. With my osteopenia even though I am very active, I don't want to weaken my bone with AIs. Right now I am healthy and feel great. I took bio identical hormones for two years and don't know if that contributed to the cancer. Thanks for the comments.

Ruth - Boosts are the last few radiation treatments - I had 5. They type of radiation that is used is not the same as the other treatments. It is a "softer" type of radiation and does not penetrate the skin as much. In my case, the only area that was done with the boost was around my lumpectomy scar. My RO remarked the area he wanted done and the rad techs made a template and then would make a piece to go on the machine with what looked like an adapter. The machine was much closer to my body and the rad tech would place a gel pad wrapped in a sheet over the entire breast before each treatment. The purpose of the gel pad was to mimick the skin. Each treatment did not take as long as the other ones - heck, it took the techs longer to get me set up and than the time it took to do the zapping.
The problems I had with Arimidex and Femara was nausea so bad I could not function. With the Arimidex I was on it for 3 weeks - I started this one before rads. My MO had tried to give me something to help with the nausea but then I did not feel like I could drive. We waited until I was finished with rads and the started Femara. With that one - again nausea and also I felt like I was a bit disoriented. Went off of that one and waited until after the Christmas holiday to start Tamoxifen. I have been on Tamox since Jan 5 and have had no problems. My hot flashes were reduced to warm waves and I am able to sleep just fine.
I hope I have answered your questions. Please ask me anything you like either here or you can send me a PM.

Well I am completly disappionted that my ink will have to wait for abit. I wasnt real crazy about the drawing so he is going to fine tune it abit. I once got ink that in the end wasnt crazy about, and I had to get it covered up. I dont want that to happen again so I want it to be right. He is very good at what he does so I know he will pull it out in the end.
I also ended up have some mild spotting the past few days. I was rather annoyed because I havent had a period since Feb. I'm just worried that means the Tamo isnt working as hard as I want it to. Im sure Im being abit over the top but so far everything about this cancer has been a new thing to me. I was so liking the no period. I hope this is just a temp thing. I wouldnt complain about that going away for good!

Thanks Jo! hugs
Paula... sorry it didnt work out today! what are you thinking of getting? Did you have to come off Tamoxifen for your exchange? that may explain the spotting as soon as stopped mine for surgery a few days later i got my period it really messes with our system hugs!!!

Thanks Tink! Im getting a fairy holding a ribbon with 3 more floating down from it. The ribbons are for the women in my family who have all had breast cancer. I was lucky that I didnt have to stop with the Tamo for the exchange. Thats what kinda bothered me. Plus the timing of my period is the same as it was before chemo and Tamo. I just probably need to take a chill and stop over thinking this to much. I've been on a crazy train since Dec and I just need to get off of it.

Paula.. That sounds really nice would love to see a pic of ot when you get it done. I see ok so that wouldnt explain it. I know what you mean though Paula everything takes on a different light now and we look at things differently. I am on the train with you
. Hey do you do facebook? 0 -
I am on facebook alittle to much according to my hubby, lol. But then again he watches to many wasterns, lol. I am excited about it. I cant wait for his new drawing. I guess I should have given him more of a clue, but thats ok, I know he will make it right. He does great work and I have mever had any issues with the others he has done.
