NIOXIN shampoo and conditioner works great! Since I started using it my hair is so soft, and thicker. I use the Nioxin booster with the shampoo and conditioner. I wish I would of used it earlier.

kay1963 I use the Anastasia brow powder duo. I was more worried about losing my eyebrows than my hair… so I purchased this 4 weeks before my BMX! (Yeah I had to wait 6 weeks). I bought the darkes color which at the time was a darker than my eyebrows but I mixed it with the lighter color. Now, after chemo my brow hairs are STILL darker than the product.

They also have stencils at Ulta and possibly Sephora too for those who are a bit challenged.  Also check out under eyebrows for instructions HERE. They are very good.

Carrol plenty of women are married to me 10 or more years older than them...  I'm sure you look as young as when Iast saw you. And that was without hair!

dragonfly, I have not cruised thru the hair thread in awhile, I was so excited by your pic with Joan Jet!!  You look fantastic!  I am sure this is a day you will remember and laugh about.

So not time to look thru all the threads, but what are you all doing about the face fuzz??

I'm 9 mos. pfc and finally have the hair I've wanted for years and years.  It's still on the short side but curly.  I always wanted a hairdo just like this - with dark hair.  You always want what you can't have - I've always had light hair and now it's come in totally white.  arrgh  Since it's taken so long to grow I'm debating whether I should have it dyed (can't do dark at my age now) and highlighted and maybe I could finally keep a style.  My hair used to grow so fast before C but maybe now everything has changed.  I've got 5 more Herceptin to go & I'll see if my hair takes off growing after that.  If it doesn't I'm thinking of the highlighting even though it scares me to think of putting dye on my head again like I did for so many years.

For all of you whose hair is growing in very slowly, I feel your pain but it will finally come in.  The strange thing is mine came in thin and then everyone has been saying that it's filling out in the places it was thin so it's even overall now.  It reminds me of Forrest Gump with the chocolate - you never know what you're going to get.

I did color mine with a semi-permanent color by john frieda. I had my husband pick out the color as he used to been a stylist. It worked fine. I was an ash blonde before and he chose a natural blonde. So far so good.

Beccasgm:  Have you had to color it often?  When my hair grew at its regular pace I would need to color it every 4 or 5 wks. and that concerns me now.  Everyone likes my color but it does make me look older.  I miss being blonde sometimes.  If my hair permanently slows down in growing then I would be happy & could have it dyed much less frequently.

shore - my hairdresser gave me Bosley products, first for non-colored hair and then after my hair was colored, the formulation for colored hair.  She likes the Bosley products more than Nioxin, and has had many clients who have had BC and lost their hair.

lago - Thanks for the link. I'm doing a Look Good Feel Better seminar next month and am really looking forward to it. I've always gone light on the makeup, so this may be a good time to brush up on that.

Carrol...Sorry about your mom. and that people thought you were married to your brother, and twins with your older sister...

Dragon... you are too funny. And how cool you had a pic taken with Joan Jett... Hair or no hair... at least the one in the lobby will be the one you like.

I had another trim last Friday.. I just hate this in between stage... People compliment my hair, but then they see pictures of the way I was and understand why I miss my hair... I had a lot of hair. And I really acn't wait till its a really awkward length. I may have to wear hairbands... oh joy. Thank goodness we have so many hair products to choose from... gels, mousse, cremes, etc.

Iago, thanks for posting those instructions. I probably won't get up the nerve (don't like the idea of people being able to see that I painted them), but I might try it. It does feel weird to have a bald face.

Carroll, I lost my mom to lung cancer in 2009.  I miss her everyday, but am so glad she didn't have to stay here in pain.  BIG HUG!

Dragonfly, I think you rock your look WAY better than Joan, and it is cool that you got a pic with her.  Rock on.

Momine, I had anxiety about filling in my eyebrows also, but its really easy.  You can even buy stencils at Sally Beauty and chose a style.  I have brown hair when I have hair (although its coming in grey now!), and bought a taupe colored eyebrow pencil that is super easy.  Experiment at home when no one can see you!

Carrol, I'm so sorry you lost your mom. I lost mine 6 years ago, and I miss her every day. I think as we're coping with breast cancer, all of us need mothering. When we can't get it in person, our friends on these forums are a good substitute.

My sister-in-law went through a BMX and reconstruction without ever telling her mother that she had breast cancer. She knew her mom would worry too much about her. Her mom died without ever knowing.

Momine The stuff I recommended for eyebrows is very natural. When I asked my onc if my eyebrow thinning was still from chemo last April she said yes but she didn't think my eyebrows looked thin.  I laughed and let her know I filled them in. The Anastasia powder stuff works that well. You just need to get an eyebrow brush and pat on small lashes rather than draw lines.

wavewhisperer I also never told my mom about my breast cancer. Just didn't want to upset her. I am glad she never knew.

Happy New Year to all!  My wish is that 2012 will be better for us all.

I am now 10 months PFC.  My avitar was taken on a cruise in early December.  I colored my hair from the time I was 24 and have made the decision to go natural.  I have also learned to embrace my curls.  The only product that I use is Pantene Curl Defining Mousse.  My hair was totally straight before chemo.  My eyebrow which used to be as thick as the old Brooke Shields pictures without thinning are thin now.  I use an eyebrow pencil every day.

Carrol- I am so sorry for the loss of your mother.

@fitz33-this is the first time i have colored it since chemo (21 weeks PFC). My hair came in white at first and then was coming in a dark ash blonde so before I went topless (2 weeks ago) I had him color it. So far my growth seems slow so I havent had to deal with roots. I had never colored my hair before and dont choose to do so but I really hate the color so what the heck...I guess I'll be coloring it from now on.

Carol - I am sorry you lost your mum. You did a wonderful thing sparing your mother the pain of knowing you had BC.

People are funny the way they react.  I've been disappointed by some people and amazed at the support given by other people I didn't know well.

Wow Ladym13, your hair is fab!

My daughter said to me today, "your hair looks curly at the back mom".  On the one hand that's great because it means it's getting longer, on the other hand aaarrrggghhh!  I was hoping to escape the curls.  We'll just have to see how it grows.

Ladym13-How beautiful you and your hair is! Was it always that stright? Did it come in curly and then go straight? Mine is coming in curly and I am hoping it strightens back out.
