hey ladoes, im still lurking, but the hair is barely holding on.. i have a new "do" but don't want to scare the newbies.. its still the hypothyroid working against the hair; even with minoxidyl.. however, im still trying, hoping we'll find "magic " number for my thryoid levels. only at a 3.0' which ISN'T it.. so, i'll be checking on you luckier ladies!!!thanks for the tip about the tea.. gonna try it for the sparse scalp.. and ks mathews, add my prayers for your friend.....3jays0

So sorry Ksmatthews, it's a bitter pill to swallow.
I think we are even more sensitive to others' cancers at this point in our own battle. One of my friends found out late this summer that she had lung cancer and she died within two weeks. All I could think about was how she didn't even get a chance to fight. It made me realize that no matter how much all the treatment really sucked, at least I got to have the treatment and fight the battle.

That's what I call mine, "mini bangs" - it's been so long since I posted a pic I'm not sure I remember how but will try soon.

Ksmatthews, so sorry about your friend Janet. As someone said, at least we're able to fight this cancer. It's so tragic when others find out too late. I had a colleague who was diagnosed with stomach cancer and lived only two weeks. It makes our struggles with hair seem pretty insignificant, doesn't it?

Men aren't that observant regarding things like that. Remember they like cracks. THAT they notice.

So sad to hear about your friend's passing. How devastating for her loved ones to have so little time after her diagnosis to process it and lose her. Prayers, thoughts and peaceful vibes all headed out to all concerned.

Have anyone heard of using silicea to promote healthy hair? Heard about it today.. Going to try it.. Have to get OK from RO first though I can not find anything saying there is a conflict between this and rads..

Ossa - my hair stylist said that the prenatal vitamins I've been taking to boost my iron levels will help stimulate hair growth. I'm going to keep taking them, since it (or something) seems to be working. I bought a big bottle at WalMart (they are not expensive) and take one a day. My hair is thick but the texture is what it was pre-chemo...very fine.

((((KS)))) So sorry about your friend. This disease is so wicked and cruel.
Ladies, the recent talk of getting a trim has inspired me (or, the word "mullet" was enough to scare me)... I called my stylist and proudly announced to her that I had hair and needed her help! I'm scheduled to see her next weekend.
