Mizmarie, what a total bitch. I am really sorry, although it sounds as if you sort of lucked out, as far as one can with cancer.

Mizmarie, I had colon cancer 14 years ago, then my BC DX this past October. I assume you've already had your colon surgery, since you mentioned the nodes...Just wanted to encourage you. I had  annual colonoscopies for 5 years after my surgery, then every 3 years and now every 5 years. All have been clear since the surgery. I didn't have chemo or rads after the colon surgery, since it was "in situ" or contained. Hope you don't have to either. Keep us posted. Thinking of you...

Very sorry about your new cancer, MizMarie.

This thread has been quiet the last couple of days.

I am still having trouble straightening my chemo curls despite trying several products, sttaightener etc. Is there any other advice for me on blow drying techniques or such?

There is a thread on hair growth pics that I will bump as it may help some ladies.

I don't have chemo curls yet. Still waiting for more hair. And waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I've convinced myself that it has stopped growing. Where is the hair growth thread? Or, in my case, the hair no growth thread!

My "hooray" news of the passt week or so is that total strangers have complimented me on my hairstyle.  These are people who have no idea I was sick.  Like... it has actually reached the stage where it looks like it's something I'm doing on purpose.  I don't want to keep it short but it's nice to know I'm rocking it in the meantime.

(I just wish it didn't take so many steps to get a picture up here... otherwise I would show you all myself, haha.  Maybe this weekend.)

Thank you all for the encouragement - I'm healing nicely and finally starting to come out of that dark place we tend to go when we are dealing with bad news....  I won't know for a couple more weeks whether more chemo is part of my future, so for now, I'm letting go of it.  I did read that hair loss is a "less common" SE with the standard chemo regimen for colon cancer.

In the meantime, my hair is growing nicely and in another six weeks I may a Jamie Lee Curtis thing happening....  Hard to believe someone would wear that style on purpose, although she really rocks that look.

mizmarie - so thankful that your surgery went well and your nodes are negative - hoping for no more chemo for you, but I know you will do whatever you have to.

I have the facial fuzz plus long chin whiskers! My armpit hair is growing as is my leg hair. Hair growth on my head is doing pretty good except top middle front! Really, where I want it most! Feeling fat, no boobs and a bald spot! My self esteem is shot! I think my face is fuzzier than the bald spot! It has been 3 months!!!!! I should have more hair! I am way behind most of you. I would post a picture but it is not pretty.

    MiazMarie this sucks.

2jaysmom From what I know (which is not a lot) it can be quite challenging to get that thryoid undercontrol.  Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later so you can get your hair back again.

Mizmarie.....wow, sorry to hear the crap news. It seems you had these two cancers simultaneously and did not know it correct? This is the first time I heard that Onco testing is done on all tumors. I thought that was for breast only for some reason. DUH!

Please fill us in as to your score. I'm always interest because I had a score that was through the TOP. You are in my prayers and we are hoping for the best.

The reason I'm here today is that I"m 4 years out and I had posted that eye lashes and brows stopped dropping at 3 1/2 years after the usual every three months. Well, I noticed

last week my eyebrows are GONE. Lashes are hanging in there. How weird is that? Guess I'll have to get out the old pencil again. Ah, the gift that keeps on giving and giving.........

Hello, is there a general time frame on how long the white/gray hairs that can come in during & right after taxol last? Im 41 & colored my hair before BC, but it was never white! I know i'll have to color it once I have enough, but its alarming to see no brown hair.

MizMarie---  so sorry hear about the colon....  My aunt had colon cancer and didn't lose any hair during her chemo so hopefully you will not have to deal with that with everything else on your plate.

4 months PFC tomorrow, I never thought I'd have this much hair again!  Starting to come in curly now.  Have a "spa" day scheduled for the 1st weekend in March for a mani/pedi & cut/color.  Can't wait.

My hair's been growing since 9 months.  I've colored it twice.

This is what I do to manage the curls:

While very wet,  I put leave-in conditioner, but not one that softens the hair too much.

Then I flatten my hair like a back-to-front combover and dry it that way, using my hands and fingers to flatten it forward.

When dry, I use my fingers to push it back towards the crown.  It's straight and thatchy.  I put a little light finishing paste on the top and pull the hair so it is thatchy and stands up.

Bak94, Hang in there. My hair is not gowing very fast either. I have about 1 1/4 inch of hair 16 weeks PFC. I have two thin areas in the front, face fuzz, no eyebows, and thin straight eyelashes. Not great. McCrimmon has much more hair than I do. Perhaps we need a spa day as well. I have to believe we will catch up at some point.

Mizmarie, hope you're feeling okay today.

I vote for the spa day.  I had a facial, mani-pedi, mini massage and hair cut (if you call it that). Felt like a new person.

Bak94  --  give it time.  I am 5 months PFC and have full head coverage, but it is only 3/4 in long.  If only our hair would come back as fast as it fell out :)

Shore1, I used a temp color on it 4 weeks ago this saturday,so I'm due this weekend and going a little darker I think.  I had originally bought Med Mahoganey Brown and chickened out, my hair was a weird mix of white/grey and I was scared of turning it pink so I went with lightest golden brown.  I'm doing the Med Mah. Brown on Saturday.  Can't remember the brand now, green box?  LuvRVing, it was whatever you used??

Eyebrows are powder, always have been, they have always been so light you can't see them.  Which I guess is good since they have always been rather thick up until recently.

I've been using L'Oreal, the temporary 28-shampoo version.
