OK, if we're going to talk about dippity-do, you can't forget the aqua net hairspray!!

OMG, I remember every girl carried a can in her purse. You'd walk into the school bathroom and it's a wonder the place didn't blow up between the girls sneaking cigarettes and those of us standing in the mirror gluing our hair in place!

You are all just cracking me up! Btw - aqua net is still a big item for back stage at dance competitions - my DD uses it and I've gotta tell you it holds the crazy chemo curls down!

OK this is very funny. My hair seems to have gone full circle. This is me at my 5th birthday party. Not such a clear photo cause dad took it with his Minox camera.

This is my hair right before I was diagnosed. I spent a lot of time blowing it all out to keep the curl down and then I flat ironed the front. Between the hilites and the heat it was very damaged.

Michelle, Thank you so much for suggesting that we share baby and childhood pictures. The first one is me at about 18 months. What curls I had then were natural. The next picture was taken for my first Communion when I was 7 years old. The curls that time were painstakingly set by my mother. My hairdresser refers to post chemo hair as newborn hair. I believe she is correct.

mccrimmon-too funny about texting friends your hair!!! Sounds like something I would do:0
Monime-I am at about 12/13 weeks pfc and don't have much more than you! Mine is still very thin front middle, but it was always kinda thin there. In fact, if that would fill in I probably would go topless. You have a nice head shape in the back too! Mine is kinda like a block, kinda like a wrestlers head:(
Love all the baby pictures! At the salon I work at one of the stylist would keep a can of aqua net hidden but bring it out for a few special clients. Could smell that clear across the salon when she brought it out.

Bak, lol on the wrestler's head. I am sure it is not as dire as all that. Mine is definitely thinner in the front too.
As for kid photos, here is one of mine:

When I found out I needed chemo and that I would lose my hair I was pretty devastated as most of us are, but I figured well my hair has been very damaged from all the abuse I did to it so this was kind of a do over for me. I never realized how much it would be like my hair as a child, except for the grey of course lol. But seriously its super healthy now and I hope I can keep it that way. I know it's hard to imagine for those of you still only just seeing sprouts and waiting patiently for jsut enough coverage to go topless, but I think most of you will be pleasantly surprised when you get there.

Is there any way to post a picture othe than from a URL?

Peggy - if the picture is hosted somewhere on the web (won't work from your local computer drives) you can right click in the picture and select copy. Then come here to the text box, click in the box, then right click and select paste. It will ask you to confirm the action. That is the easiest way to post a picture. And this doesn't work from Firefox, you have to do it through Internet Explorer.

Anybody have any advice for going "topless" the first time? I am so excited that I am finally going to get my gray/black chemo hair dyed tomorrow at 16 weeks PFC. However, I am very anxious about this change. Suggestions or experiences anyone want to share?

ILboys, I took a xanax before work. Only problem I had was it was between Christmas and New Years and I work in a really small office. I was the only one to show up! My advice, just do it. You'll be surprised at how many people compliment your decision to chop it all off.

ILBoysMom - good for you! Now do it with pride and self-confidence. Do not doubt for a single minute that you look fabulous, you'll get plenty of compliments and few if any "odd stares." And if you can, post a picture so we can cheer you on!

I stopped chemo August 25, 2011, and radiation November 3, 2011. On Christmas Day I had enough little hair to attend family gathering with my own hair. They told me I looked like Shanade O'Conner. Or some other star popular now! But Since then it has reached about 1 inch in length, is salt and pepper grey, and curly! I really like it! I am 70 but had used hair dye since I was 16 and had no idea what color my hair really was. Been wanting to let it go natural for some time but every time I attempted would chicken out thinking I wanted to "look young". I work in technology and most of my coworkers are in their 20, 30 40s. Well, I did! i am retired as of Feb. 1, 2012. Also I am still experiencing persistent pain in my bones and muscles so if anyone has had this and knows of a solution please post! Am very happy to be somewhat normal again but would like to be pain free, of course.

karen2painfree. I know I didn't really suffer with any pain in my bones or muscles during chemo but about a month or so afterward I could barely walk. I was hunched over and just sitting for a few minutes would stiffen me up terribly. I do a lot of cardio exercise now and I think that is helping. I don't have that pain anymore but it lasted for several weeks.

ILboys As I was told last week when I asked the same thing was........ you just gotta rock it!!! Find the self confidence that BC took. I am 12 weeks PFC and dyed my hair blonde. It is short but it does almost look like I cut it this way. Good luck and LOVE THYSELF

ILboys - heavy eye makeup, bright lips and big earrings! Ha ha!
(Oh and I also told everyone at work that i was thinking about it so they were encouraging me and cheering me on - "you did it!")

Frankenboob, you look great and yes the lashes are unbelievable. I was feeling down today; I went to the hairdressers and made an appointment to have my hair dyed your colour. Thanks for posting.

thanks all! it feels good to actually mostly recognize myself again.
cdairth, i felt much better about mine after getting it coloured. it was sooooo white that i actually looked like i had bald spots even though i had good coverage. do what you have to, to feel good again. this journey can be so depressing and it's just amazing what doing little things for ourselves can accomplish. i hope you feel perkier soon!
