Ok girls my hair is annoying me so bad!!!!  It is getting longer and it is so curly I cannot do anything with it.  Wonder what I could do???  I know it is better than being bald, but it really is driving me nuts.

My bangs have grown down to just beneath my eyebrow.  Yippeee!!!  Who would've thought such a small thing......would be so big!

I am 13 months pfc, and my hair is still soooo short and super curly. I think I have just about 5".  Come on hair, GROW! (for all of us!!!!)

Ksmatthews - my hair has always been somewhat wavy, and when I go to Florida or any place with high humidity, it can turn my hair into ringlets.  I try to just go with it, which is what I am doing now.  I'm guessing it will be very curly until it gets long enough for the weight to pull it down.  Perhaps a visit with your favorite hairstylist to learn some new tricks might be in order.

How soon does hair show curl?  Mine is only about a half-inch long, but already I can feel ripples in the back.  I can handle curly, but I sure hope I don't end up with frizzy ringlets.

I have a daughter with extremely kinky blonk hair.  Her secret is mousse.  Lots of mousse.  She puts it in with the hair wet, styles with her fingers, and then lets it air dry or dry gently with a diffuser.

You definitely need to experiment with different hair products. My hair on top seems like it grows straight up.  Ha, ha, I just saw a music video with Bruno Mars, and with a bit more length, my hair could probably look like his.  Here's a link to a picture of him, in case you don't know who I'm talking about.

My hair used to be super straight and baby fine.  The new growth takes getting used to.  I bought FX Special Effects Surf Head "texturing paste" at Walmart (for $4.47) the other day, and it helps to get my hair to lie flatter.  Here's a link:

Was gone on vacation for a week - back and loving all the pics!

KS - I put Chi in my hair when it is wet, then blow it dry, then touch it up with a 1/2" flattening iron, then I use "Got to be Glued" gel and then hairspray!  LOL what a regimen!  Turns out pretty well and looks wavy rather than kinky curly!  Ridulous how long it takes!

Divine, you should be proud of me ;). I managed to purchase some shampoo and conditioner that is supposed to enhance blond hair. Not quite hair color, but getting closer at least.

Now I am reading the anti-curl regimes and getting scared all over again. I rarely even use a hair dryer, and I mean when I had hair. Ack, ack, ack.

OMG...I was leaving the house so I didn't hear the rest of the story...but The Revolution made a statement that the average woman spends $50,000 on her hair over her lifetime.  Wow, just wow!

Marjie I'm with you! The wavy, curly, unmanageable new hair is just impossible. I kept letting it grow and I was completely frustrated with it. The weird texture has a lot to do with my styling challenges. So I've cut it off again too and I'm hoping it eventually converts back to the straight, fine, shiny hair I know how to manage...

I have not read all the pervious pages so I don't know if anyone has said they have taken this regimen. I am on 12 weekly treatments of abraxane and carboplatin. Finished #6 today. Praise God I am halfway thru.

When should I expect my hair to start growing back? My onc told me twice I would not loose all my hair, that it would only thin. Well, I have very few hairs left. I am feeling I am going to be wearing just scarves. Everyone tells me the wig looks so good but it is just not me.

Ladies, just a reminder that I had my hair chemically straightened.  I am very happy with it. It requires no maintenance.

I started a thread about straightening and you can read there about different techniques.

    I highly recommend it.

Seagrover - I was never comfortable with my wig...I only wore it once. I liked the scarves - my sister sent me some of the BeauBeau scarves which were great, but I also just used regular scarves too....and now that I have hair, my scarves are back down around my neck Wink

Even though I know they meant well I found I was a little suspicious of everyone telling me I looked good - if I wasn't comfortable, I went more by how I felt.

Marjie and I have the same haircut. I know mine was getting a little wavy but I don't know if it ever curled because I now keep it very short… and love it. I do find now (It's been 1 year 1 month PFC) that my hair is pretty close to my old texture. I got my shine back!. I'm still keeping it short though. I have to much other stuff to do now. Who knows maybe when my nails finally get back to normal and I don't have to polish them anymore I'll decide if I want to grow it long again.

(finger nails still have vertical ridges although getting better. Still brownish color on top, brittle and several lifted but  I do believe they are finally getting better. Might take another 6-12 months though. Toenails look like crap but who cares).

    Hi lago!!

I went and had even a little more of my hair cut off before I went on vacation.  Zero "hair time".  I posted someplace else this morning: When I see pictures of myself "pre-cancer" I miss that girl, but that's not me anymore.

I don't miss the pre-cancer hair anymore now that the shine & texture is back. I know I can grow it back if I want to. Most people say I look younger with the short hair… not that I looked old before.

Marj I still love you in short hair. You look more hip.

Lago and Margie I'm finding that I just have no patience for high maintenance hair so I think I'm going to keep it short too. Lago, that's very encouraging to hear that you're getting your shine back. That's one of the weird things about this post-chemo hair-the texture is coarse, dry and dull no matter what I do to it and I miss the natural shine. I've also finally gotten my act together and returned to the gym after just getting by for the past year (full time work and walking when I had the energy) and I'm finding this short hair so much easier when I swim or work out-a little bit of gel in my towel dried hair and I'm good to go...

Bela, my last taxol with herceptin was 2/1. Im still getting herceptin every 3 weeks and just started tamoxifen on 2/12. My fuzz started growing back about #7 taxol, but I thought I would have more by now.
