Shore1 - I've done the L'Oreal and accidentally bought the semi permanant from Garneir thinking it was L'Oreal. I think that the Garneir actually kept those white tips covered better. I've done it twice and next will be permanent with a trim.

Carrol2- Your hair looks awesome! Did you get it cut at all during the growing in phase? If not, how did you avoid the mullet?

Rockym -- I can't find your Eyebrow/Eyelashes thread -- could you bump it so I can find it. Question -- first things I saw about PFC brow loss were from gals on Taxol -- but now it appears not all are.....thoughts? Thanks.

chh - I found it under the Chemotherapy heading. Go to the search box at the top of the page, type in member name rockym and eyebrows in the keyword box and it will show up. I am a techo-peasant and can't do the link thing!

thanks sunflower i only cut it once that was at 4 months PFC and very little just enough to even it out, i had those long strands that kind of hung on and broke off as the new hair grew in. It looked like it was starting to get a mullet so I flip it up and really poof it out when i blow dry it.0

CHH, I did bump it. It was under Chemotherapy/Before, During and After.
I was on Taxotere/Cytoxan for 4 rounds. I have heard others mention Taxotere also causing the PFC loss. So far my eyebrows are back and have even darkened up a bit. :-). They came in light and soft and now they are darker and coarser as they were pre-chemo. Upper eyelashes are coming along, but it feels like "a watched pot never boils."

I check into this hair thread from time to time. So many of us post here that it's hard to keep up with all the reading. I love everything everyone has to say about hair, hair, hair. Would you say it's got to be the most popular of all threads on bc.org?
Lately I have especially loved all the photos. I think my hair is growing in like Kymn's, (altho I'm not a beautiful 30 something blonde with huge blue eyes).
I mentioned before and will say again: try to take photos from time to time of your hair. That's how you will really see hair growth, even when you think it's not growing. I could have sworn my hair hasn't grown hardly at all for awhile.
Then, yesterday I took a picture of myself & looked at it on the camera....and started flipping back thru some older photos still on there. I saw one of my hair from January 3 which I forgot I'd taken. To my very surprise, I saw that, yes, indeed, there has been noticeable growth. And I even had my hair trimmed once to give it some shape one time inbetween these pictures. I'm going to try to figure out how to post the photos so you can see.

Okay, I've practiced getting these pictures posted. First off, I'm going to post a picture of my hair on August 8, 2011. That is two month PFC, and when I began going topless. (even tho I had a wig that was so close to my hairstyle before my hair fell out that lots of people who knew my hair fell out still didn't realize it was a wig--you know how that goes). But hey, nothing like your own REAL hair.

Here's my hair as of yesterday, February 18. To my surprise, there is noticeable hair growth since January 3, even after having it trimmed for some shape. Like many of us, the back of my hair from the middle of my head down grows quite fast, so I am keeping it shorter to let the top catch up. I color my own hair--have done it myself for over 30 years.

MrsM, beautiful! Have you had the sides trimmed? I'm a month behind you and you seem to have so much more on the top. Not much longer and you will look like your profile pic!

Thanks, kks_rd. The sides had a slight trim. Overall it still seems quite short to me. Totally different texture than my previous straight, thin, fine hair. Can't wait until my bangs grow to my eyebrows....which btw, my brows grew back thinner and my eyelashes are very short.
Here's a side-by-side comparison.....ha, ha, I'm having fun with the pictures now that I figured out how to post and resize them.

shore1, several times I used Loreal Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color. It takes only 10 minutes and has no ammonia. You can find it at Walmart, RiteAid, and other places. I used a medium blonde. Here's a link so you can see what the package looks like (just a different color).
This last time (color in the last picture), I used Revlon Colorsilk, which is very cheap. I wanted a lighter color than I could find that particular day in the Loreal brand. It's okay, but I think it dried my hair out some. I will go back to using the L'Oreal next time.

Those of you who use hair color at home, how do you keep it from going on your nexk and forehead? Any special tricks?

Momine - I find it washes right out. I colored mine on Friday, left the color on for 30 minutes because I've found my hair to be resistant, probably because it's got a lot of grey in it. Then I hopped in the shower and washed it all down the drain. I didn't have anything left on my skin, nor on my hands. I didn't bother with the gloves in the shower. Here is a collage of my hair progression, with the first picture taken at the end of September when I finished chemo, and the last two are today. I am 20 weeks PFC, the hair in the back is growing faster than the top (consistent with everyone else). I was happy to get the color a lot more brunette with a bit of red this time.
Photobucket has a great collage-maker that lets you group your pictures so you can see the progress. As everyone has said, it's very reassuring to look back and compare - you can really see the growth. And if you color your hair, you can also see the roots so you know it's growing more than you might think.

These pixs are from Jan 19/12 (Three months PFC) until today.. My hair is growing soooo slow.. Guessing it is b/c I am on Herceptin as well as Tamoxifen.. Want a headfull of hair again

Truth be told.....that avatar photo.....gosh. Before bc....I was so appreciative and grateful for all my life's blessings....I felt hot-to-trot......on top of the world....loved my hair......I try not to dwell, but have a moment from time to time when I look at that avatar and miss those days.......

btw, Momine, about keeping the haircolor off the forehead & neck: some haircolor is thicker than others. Often haircolor that cost a little more is less drippy. Even so, you can still get good haircolor for under $10.
There are so many on the market. Someone just mentioned using Garnier hair color, and they have a no-drip foam product that seems like it'd be something you might like, and reasonably priced under $10. Here's a link to info on that:
I'm sure there are other brands of no-drip formulas in the stores too, just browse the haircolor aisle. It is always fun for me to check out all the haircolor products on the store shelves.
Don't sweat any drips, like luvRVing says. It washes off. Often, after I mix & apply haircolor, any that has dripped on my neck or forehead, I just use a couple kleenex tissues to wipe clean.

Thanks, divine. The reason I asked is that I went to the drug store to sneak a peek, but it was full of employees, so I fled. I need to know what to get, so I can get in and out quickly.
