Spunky I blew my modeling career when I was 5. My mom & grandmother brought me to this audition for models at a department store in Boston. When they asked me if I wanted to be a model I said "No, I want to be a nurse." I had no idea what a model was.0

Well today I am going to say bye bye to my somewhat long hair and go get a pixie cut for now..
So tired of the shedding....But not quite ready for the buzz..

Lisa....good for you. I "lost" my hair in stages too.
Spunky.....o' my....the wind is a bit fierce here as well....yesterday and again today. It will bring rain tonight they say and a major ( 30 degrees ) temp. difference. But, I think for the most part after we are going to remain with 'decent' temps. Wondering what it is on Wendy's deck --- in the 50's they said on our forecast......if her thermometer hasn't blown away.
Thinking of you Joan.....hope you are fine.
Have a great day everyone.....summer is coming, summer is coming.
Hugs, Jackie

I did the buzz cut as soon as I saw the hairs floating down when I blew my hair dry. Then the next day I was so annoyed with the itty bitty hairs falling out everywhere I had husband use shaving cream and a razor! What an interesting time we have...
Happy Tuesday!

Hello Illinois Ladies -
Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to all of you. Today is my 5 year cancerversary! This discussion board was so helpful during diagnosis and treatment and this thread inparticular was the one I spent the most time in. I really appreciate all of the kind words and support that I received.
Today is a happy day but it also brings back lots of memories. I remember getting the dreaded call - I was at work and I just picked up my stuff and walked out. No idea how I made it home through all the tears. But I made it through and now I know I can pretty much tackle anything. Illinois Ladies are Tough!
Again, just wanted to offer thanks and some hope to those just starting out. We are heading to Disney World in two weeks to celebrate!

Congratulations Connie!!!!! Yay on 5 years and I hope you enjoy Disney World!

Oh Lisa -- losing your hair is tough! Hang in there.
Connie -- Congratulations! What a terrific milestone. I love Disney.. have a great time.
I am off to run in a few minutes after dropping DD at high school for late arrival day? You would think that waking her up at 8:30 would be much easier than waking her up at 6:30... hah! Seems I have to set aside a solid hour of every morning to wake up teenagers!

Connie.... happy 5 years out!!! YAY!!! And I'm soooo jealous of Disney, I wanna come too! I'm trying to talk my DH into making Disney our summer trip this year.... He wants to go visit his mom, I wanna visit Mickey Mouse! Enjoy your day today!!!

So sorry Lisa... I did the pixie cut too when mine started falling out, it did help me transition a little easier.... Hang in there!!!!
This wind stinks... I'm tired of hibernating. And I slept HORRIBLY again last night. I'm not a back sleeper at all. Tonight I'm attempting a pillow cushioned side sleep for a little while....I look like a zombie!!! Being bald really complements the dark circles. NOT!!0 -
Connie- Yay for 5 year anniversary and Disney! You made it!
MadJenn- Today would be a good day for a bald walk, all tickle-ish! (c:
Lisa- Ha! I never had the teenage coma with my girls, touch wood.
It's a very blustery day today.

Hey ladies!
Connie - congratulations. I can't wait to say it's been 5 years! Thank you for posting that...it gives many of us something to look forward too! I hope life is treating you well now!
Madismommy: Sorry about the sleep...it will get better soon. Hang in there! Let me know how long you are off work...I could bring lunch over and we could visit!!!
Lisa - I am so sorry about your hair. This whole journey brings many difficult steps that are hard to handle. I hope you are OK. Hugs!

Lisa, that's what I did sort of. Not quite a pixie but did cut it much shorter. Funny I wear the pixie now. hair transition linky… 2nd picture from the right.
Saw my PS this morning. We're both quite happy. He took pictures and asked me again if he could share for "educational purposes." I told him yes a long time ago. Any I'm putting on my bra and he asks if he could take a picture of me in my bra too. He really is happy with the natural slope he achieved. I might be that boobie prize poster gal after all MadMom

Also when I walked in the office there was one other patient sitting there. All of a sudden she looks up and says "Oh, hi." Its my neighbor across the hall. She says "well you're not here for the same reason I am." I say "yes I am. Don't you remember seeing me wearing scarves." She never did and she thought the short hair was a choice. It's funny but we dont' see much of each other. Anyway we have the same team of doctors. The other woman in the building was the one to recommend our team to her. My PS didn't realise we lived on the same floor either.
I knew she was going through this… but wasn't supposed to know so I never said anything to her the last time I was in the elevator. Now I know why she never said anything to me. She didn't even know I was going through it.
Amazing day today. I played hooky till 3pm. I was down in the loop/mile all day.

Congrats Connie, enjoy the magic kingdom
Lisak-like the pixie
Ady-hope you caught the ice cream truck (if in fact it exists)
Have a restful evening everyone.

Thanks for the congratulations!
Lisa - your new cut looks cute. Loosing the hair is a tough time - it is one of the worst parts other than the diagnosis. But, as someone already said, you will get through it and make peace with it.

Cute cake, Jackie - Thanks!

Lisa - Cute!!
Adey - I believe you!

Congrats Connie on the five years! So cool. Celebrate.
Lisa, the pixie cut is so cute! I agree with everyone else... Losing the hair was the worst part of the whole treatment process. Took me a few weeks to get over it.
I am scheduled for back surgery next month. Will not go into all the details, but surgery involves some screws and a rod, 4 days in hospital and a back brace for 3 months. Yikes! I sure didn't like hearing that. Scares me more than the BMX right now, but if I made it through that, chemo and rads, I guess I can make it through this. For now it is pain killers and anti-Inflamatories.
This wind is crazy. Worse here tonight than it was all day. Looking forward to a calmer day tomorrow.0 -
Lisa - The new "do" looks great!
Connie - Congrats to you!
Joan - Glad you have a plan. The northern IL girls will bring lunch to you on a day during your recovery. If there's anything else I can do, let me know.

Have been working a fun freelance job this week. Wish they'd hire me full-time!

It's another Winnie the Pooh day! Blustery indeed. Get out those hard hats! lol Be safe...

Joan my mom had this huge operation to her spine (scoliosis really bad) that also required a rod and lots of screws last spring… actually to two 8 hour operations just a few days apart. She was so bent over that it was effecting her breathing. Long recovery for her (remember she does have a few years on you) but doing great. No more walker but currently still using a cane. She doesn't seem to have the pain either. She did the brace and PT etc too.
Connie, belated YAY, Happy Day hitting the fiver. Huge milestone.

Joan- so sorry you have to go through so much, but praying it will bring you relief from the pain.
Wee bit chilly out this morning-brrr.
Stay warm today-spring is right around the corner
