Oh Odie so sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

CatbirdC - One of the other side effects of Tamoxifen is hot flashes. I no longer have them so go figure. As for the cholesterol - my numbers were pretty good before Tamox - now they are out of control.
Odie - congrats on the good check up today but so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers
Hey June, Tink, Paula and all the the Tammi Babes. Been super busy at work and have not had a lot of time to post but I try to read everyday.

Odie I am so sorry for the loss of your grandma prayers are with you hugs
Jo...some happy about the clear mammo... and you must admit I was well behaved.0 -
Odie... sending condolences to you for your grandmother. I still miss mine and she died of bc when I was in 5th grade.
I did not know about the risk of cholesterol numbers increasing. My total number has always been a little high, but my good cholesterol is awesome so my docs don't seem to be too worried. I'll be curious to see what it is when I have my annual next month. I started the tammy on July 1st of last year. The night sweats have been wicked for the last couple of nights. Nothing like clammy thighs and cleavage to put you right in the mood! Every time my poor husband tries to cuddle, I start flashing. Geez.....

Tink - I will admit you were very well behaved - what's up with that???? Just knew you would do something like try to fly around the room and make me move my head when I shouldn't. LOL!

About to take the first dose with breakfast. Lordy, hope I don't get the dream effect. Already get that with the chantix!
Nice to see you over here, Jo.

Galsal welcome to the train. Good Luck and if you have any questions just post away. Someone here will be able to help.
Tink you have been very well behaved, lol!
I can already tell its gonna be a long summer. My hot flashes have never let up, ugh. Atleast the joint pain has let up, so I am greatful for that. I will take the flashes over the pain any day.
Odie I'm sorry for the loss of your grandma, hugs for you.
I have been wondering if any of you gals have noticed that your veins are really starting to show. I know I'm getting older, but it seems that in the last few months they have really been more noticable. I don't know if its a concern, I go to the Onc next Friday, so I will see then.
So far my dreams haven't been any stranger then they are. I'm so glad that they are real. If they were I would be in so much trouble, lol!
Have a great day all. Love and hugs for you all!!

Jo- I am so happy for you!!!!!
Peg- I know a lot of people who take Ambien and have weird dreams from that alone or do things in the night they don't even remember. My step mother would wake up with a different night gown on and not remember getting up at all. Maybe the Ambien had enhanced your dreams.

I had hallucinations on Ambian. They were so real and scary. Only took it that one night then threw the bottle away. I can take Restaril just fine. But I have been using Melatonin pretty much every night now for months and it seems to help me to fall asleep....no guarantee that I will STAY asleep!

Jo- you must be excited about being able to move forward to your reconstruction.
I just called the bs and I am going to see her at 1:30 to see what is going on with my arm. Still no final path yet. It's been a week today. Has anyone else had to wait this long. It's making me crazy.

Galsal good luck with your first dose. Hope you don't have many SE's
Paula66 you changed your avatar. I like it.
I went to my PCP yesterday because my shoulder has really been killing me. I figure it is my pinched nerve in my neck or arthritis. He says it is arthritis and right now I can't take the steroids because of my upcoming BMX on Monday. So I have to deal with it with pain killers for now and after surgery can take the steroids. Took two pain pills last night and slept through the night the first time in over a week. But when I woke this morning I wanted to cry I hurt so back. I was forced to take two more which I really don't want to do during the day. I have a high pain tolerance so this is really bad. I asked the PCP why I never had arthritis problems until this last year. He said that radiation and tamoxifen have my immune system really compromised and it just can't fight off the arthritis so we just have to deal with it the best we can. I have told you lately that BC suckssssssssssssss.

Sherry, Have you considered trying acupuncture to help with this pain. I am going to physio 2x a week and part of the treatment is acupuncture -- mind you this is for shoulder/arm problems caused by the surgery --- but I do find it helps. Something for you to consider.

Jo~
I just got blood work yesterday so I'll check it ...BUT...I did look at my last 3-4 and my OWN numbers are higher...Now nothing drastic but still higher than before the Big Tee. Now I'm glad I looked this up....I had read where it can Lower but not make them Higher. And I'm eating much healthier too so NO fair.

Bonnie - You ate right - it's not fair. I was just getting to the point where my numbers were all good and then started the T. I really think this is going to vary with each person. I also read where the T can lower cholesterol and it did just the opposite - just like the hot flashes - instead of making them worse - they are almost gone. Seems whatever the SE is - I have the opposite happen. This darn drug keeps me guessing all the time.
I know I don't normal bitch and complain but here goes. I am trying to get scheduled for recon surgery. Had to have a surgical clearance by my family doctor - done. Had to call 2 times to get them to fax it to the PS. Had to have a mammo - done this past Tues. Waiting to results from MO and then they would fax them. I called today and my MO has had my results since yesterday and he still has not read them. The results will not be faxed until he does this. I asked the nurse to PLEASE call me when he has looked at them. I am usually a pretty patient person but I am at the end of my patience. I just want to get a surgery date. I have several things on hold for now and would like to get moving. Sorry ladies but had to bitch today. Thanks for listening.
Just wanted to add - I HATE THIS WAITING GAME!!!!

Jo bitch all you want you deserve it girl.
Joanne yes I do acupunture weekly and it does work but it takes me an hour to get there so it is difficult to go more often. They really do help but this shoulder issue has gotten worse since I had to get off my Celebrex for surgery. In my PCP's words I have severe arthritis and I am only 49. I also go to the chiropractor weekly and am very active in yoga. My MO says because my arthritis is so bad I need to do yoga stretches for 5 minutes am and pm, hard to fit all that into my schedule and still try to have a life. My MO also described my arthritis as severe. My PCP was actually pretty amazed that I have not lost range of motion in my shoulder with the pain I am having, but in Jan I just finished up three months of PT where rads had effected my pec muscle and my range of motion so I was able to get most of it back. That is probably what has saved me.

Bitch away Jo! You deserve to not be treated in that manner. They shouldn't do this to you!!!
Ok my Tammo sistas since Sherry is going in for her BMX Monday we will have to be extra nice to her, so I think in her honor we should really give her all the whacks this weekend, lol! Since I'm not on a week of Sundays, some of Tinks onry rubbed off on me, lol! Been eyeing the perfect candy for her and will post it Sunday so she can have some sweet sweet dreams.

Chevyboy - You do not have to be on Tammi to post here. We would all love for you to join us - that is what friends and sistas are for. Please stick around.
Paula - This is the first time my MO has done this to me. Usually he is more on top of things than this. I'm not sure what is going on. And so I wait, and wait and wait........

Sherry, I feel for you having had Arthritis since I was 22. Hoping I can get back on the nsaid with the follow-up at the breast clinic next week. The hands are really suffering without!
Jo, I see the PS on Wed and we should begin the process of getting cleared to schedule a date. Who knows - maybe we'll be around the same time!
Thanks for the Welcome y'all

Galsal - You will have to let me know your date. If my MO could get his head out of his ass and just read the report and get it faxed to the PS I can get a date. That is all I am waiting for at this point. My PS said he could order a mammo - should of let him to it and just cancelled the one my MO had schedule for me in June. Life would have been so much simplier. Guess why they say hindsight is 20/20.

Sherry - I'll be thinking of you come Monday. I know you'll probably feel both anxious and excited all weekend, but soon you'll be home and things will be back to normal. Nobody knows all the things we have to go through because of bc! I've been thinking of the immune system thing, and how it affects everything. I don't know how the pollen is in Texas, but here in Atlanta we have been breaking records every day. Wednesday it was over 9000! I can't imagine that doesn't mess around with your immune system! Soon, you'll get to go back on the Celebrex but we still need to figure out how on earth we can boost our immune systems! I'll try anything - today I just put bee pollen, royal jelly and propylis into my fruit smoothie - we shall see...
Jo - how frustrating! It takes so much work to get one little step done. Once again, nobody knows how much we have to go through because of bc! I hope they finally got it straightened out. As far as hindsight goes, sometimes the way you did it is the best way. Once, my endocrynologist wanted a test so my MO said she could order it. Ends up it was not exactly what the endo wanted and I had a big mess to straighten out. A mammo shouldn't be that complicated, though, but you never know. Now I just let the doctor that wants the test do the ordering.
Hey Chevy! Long time no see! How is everything? I know you quit the Tamoxifen - did you ever try the AIs? I'm thinking about doing a combination of the two, because there are things I don't like about Tamoxifen but also things I don't like about AIs. Actually, I don't like any of our choices about any of this whole breast cancer thing!

I'm wondering if anyone gets there estrogen levels checked regularly?

Winnie I havent yet. I have only been on it since June. I will be asking the onc when I go next Friday. I do have a few concerns and I think its time they give me better answers.
I haven't had a blood draw since last June. I don't know if thats normal for alot of the oncs or just mine. She tells me she doesn't like to do alot of testing that she doesn't feel is needed unless a problem arises. I got to thinking about that and I'm kinda spooked abit. I have never really gotten past the huge mistake I made a few years back but I have learned to come to terms with it because in the end it was my stubborness for not taking tammi the first time. I also have major issues on how the mammo was read, so I don't know if I'm being abit of a worry wort or if this is how its done. Thanks for listening girls.

OMG!!! I have been so busy today that I forgot to post here. I have my surgery date - Wed, April 18th. Yeah. I have to go in on the 11th to sign all the consent forms, ask more questions and get the hosp preop stuff. I am supposed to be in the hosp 2 days and hope to come home on Friday. Saturday the 21st is my birthday and I don't want to be in the hosp. I am so excited now that things are finally falling into place. Will keep everyone posted.
