I'm in schipmom!  Good luck with your ultrasound tomorrow!  I've got a ton of appointments in the next three weeks too.  Just check ups, but still somewhat nerve racking.  Be glad when they are in my rear view mirror.

Jo, June, Schimpmom , 1openheart, Galsal, and anyone else with appointments and exams - will be with you in pocket parties this week.

I was blessed to have my middle sister visit me this weekend - she just left.  She had cancer (not breast) about 16 years ago, right after her son was born.  She has been an awesome support, and I was so grateful she was here for Easter service.  Now I am exhausted, so just reading the last 3 pages of postings, will see how everyone is doing this week. BTW, she told me I need to laugh more, quit reading inspirational stuff about humor and read some REALLY funny stuff or watch some really funny TV or movies. So anyone got any favorites to suggest? I do tend to be a bit on the serious, contemplative side and recognize I need to "lighten up" a bit!

Jo and Ceeztheday, you both look great and I am so jealous you had such a great time!  Truly, I am going to try to make it to TX next fall or winter.

Bonnie, Maria, Paula, and anyone I have forgotten, thinking of all of you, sending Easter and Passover greetings to you all. And apologies for missing the pillow fight!

You can count me in for the pocket parties.  Hope everyone's appointments go well.

Just got home from visiting the Hospice House to take my nephew some Easter dinner.  He is there with his mom who was diagnosed 3 years ago with BC and then skin cancer from that.  Not expected to make it more than a few days.  We knew he had moved back to help with her lymphadema therapy but had no idea that things were that bad.  He seems to be doing okay with the support he has. Very glad we went though.

I am going to start tomorrow - just back from vacation so wanted to wait -- suggestions -- some say take 1/2 in morning and other 1/2 at night to help with hotflashes -- should I cut it or just take the whole thing in the morning --- ideas please (and thanks).

Never heard that suggested, but I still feel that I am still learning.  I just take mine in the morning with all the rest so I don't forget.

Joanne and 83DGR - Some split the doses, some don't.  Everyone seems to find their own best schedules.  Just the way we each seem to get our own mix of side effects.  Tammy is a strange lady who seems to treat us all differently.

Welcome to our group, the one none of us would have chosen to be with but that we are very glad to have found.  Whatever your questions someone will come along with the answers that worked for them.

I can't help with hot flashes.  I got put on Tammy because I couldn't tolerate the Al's. I'm nearly 20 years post menopause and fortunately Tammy didn't put me through re-runs.

Sending Easter and Passover greetings to you all.

Make room for me in those pockets.

Joanne- I split my pill, half in AM, half at bedtime. I still have night sweats, but I think that they are not as bad since I started splitting it.

    Have a good week everyone!

Welcome Joann and 83DGR45.  Sorry you ladies are having to join us but it is a fun group to hang out with.  I take mine all at once in the evening.  I have had lot's of SE's but for the most part my body has addapted.  I do get hot flashes at night and I have terrible insomnia that I have to take sleeping pills for.  Good luck hope you do not have any SE's.

Welcome Joann and 83DGR45.  The gals around here are a great bunch.  I did split mine in half for a few weeks.  I kinda got tired of that and just took mine in the morning.  I did have hot flashes bad for months, but I have notice here lately, that has finally eased up.  The same goes for the joint pain.  It has really eased up.  The SE are different for everyone, so the good thing is you may not have the same issues, good luck and if you have anything that you want to know just post away and someone might be able to help.

I know this BC comes with alot of emotions.  I never had a clue at how much my sissy went thru until I faced this wicked beast myself.  She had the same issues as alot of us and didn't have the support that I have in you gals, that I'm greatful for.  She was luckey and didn't have to do the Tamoxifen because both times her cancer was triple neg.  But non the less she knows how it is.  Even with that said I don't want to freak her out when I am mess sometimes.  Thats why I love having this place to go to.

Welcome Joan and 83DGR45.  This is a great place to hang out but sorry we have to meet this way.  I am post menopausal and could not tolerate the AIs.  I started taking Tammy in a split dose but found that it is not give me the nausea that the AIs did so I switched and just take the whole thing in the morning.  The SEs are so different for everyone.  Mine are very minimal and certainly doable.

    Dear all,

Wow....I have only been in china for 10 days bu tI feel like I have left my worries and fretting behind...no qualms about spring mammogram when I get back or heart stuff....walking, walking, walking...eating lots of veggies and laughing a whole bunch...feels great! Managed to get a major sinus infection which started on my birthday and by the Wednesday(day before my 18 hours of flying) I was at the doc's to get a prescription...spent my first week coughing uncontrollably ...reminded me of post lumpectomy...got a sinus infection a few days after surgery....didn't complain about the pain or swelling or discomfort...whined about not being able to breathe through my nose....human nature is so bizarre!

Tried to upload some pics of the great wall and some temples here bu tam unable to...and can't access facebook in china so it will have to wait until the end of the month. Just need to say....billions of people in this country and I was on apart of the wall with 5 other people...and we only met one person the entire day! awe inspiring...kept thinking...I am alive and on an adventure...I amon the GREAT WALL for Pete's sake....very humbling actually...

To those who are waiting for mammograms and appointments and and and...I think I recommend a break...even a weekend away or a week where you clear your schedule and do not go to any appointments...the appointments I was running to the weeks before I came here were wearing me out....thikn when I get home I simply need to laugh more and get to the gym and start walking to school!...keep it simple.

    Love to all

    Sandee

SAndee sounds like you are having a great time. Can't wait to see pictures when you get back.

Had my yearly gyno this morning and everything is good.  I don't have a uterus any longer so I don't have the thickening thing to worry about.  She said my ovaries felt good.  She was very glad to see that I had had a BMX thought that was a good choice especially after my last B9 lumpectomy.

Sandee - how cool to be there. I decided I would love to visit there after we watched the 2008 Summer Olympics. I'm glad you stopped to think about it while you were standing on the Great Wall - sometimes I know I whisk through things without stopping to appreciate them. Can't wait to see the pictures!

June - it's hard to keep our minds from going to that familiar dark place since we've had this diagnosis. It's the DEPTH of this disease that makes it so hard to deal with. We can be smiling and really enjoying ourselves, but all of a sudden you can have a twinge of pain and your happiness just falls away (even if only briefly) because your mind went to that damn dark place. You can dismiss it and jump back into the happy occasion, but the cycle repeats itself ad nauseum. The good news is that these feelings are supposed to stop taking over our brains as time goes by, so I'm counting on that. And I probably am better than I was in the very beginning. I hope your doctors do something this time about the pain. I heard ulcers were actually a bacterial infection and needed heavy-duty antibiotics. Maybe not all ulcers, but I know that's true for many of them. Good luck at your appointment - you don't have time to be sick because you're going to the beach, for crying out loud! Doesn't he understand that??

Linda - I agree with your sister. We all need to laugh more! I liked the movie with Ben Stiller and Matthew Broderick, "Tower Heist". That was funny! And I like the new TV series called BFF, I think or Best Friends Forever. That was pretty funny. I always get a kick out of the old "King of Queens" show. And there's a series of books I like to read that are funny called "Miss Julia does....something". A bunch of them - she has a wedding, or goes on a trip, I can't remember all the titles but they are so funny. It's about an older lady that finds herself in all kinds of jams, mostly self-inflicted but I always read them with a smile on my face.

Jo - I know you're ready to get the show on the road! Hope everything goes well at the pre-op.

Hope everybody's many, many appointments go well this week! I'm with Sandee - I think I'm going to schedule myself a week with no appointments and maybe I won't even answer the phone. Although we may be taking a cross-country trip in a few weeks. I haven't decided if that would be relaxing or hell on wheels - LOL!

Sherry - that's how I was trying to look at it, but everybody says, "driving 400 miles per day is hard" and "you're gonna be miserable". I just don't know if I'm up for it, but I hate to miss ANY opportunity for an adventure!

heartnsoul - Over the years I've known several people that have taken cross country road trips lasting in duration from a week or two to several months, some in motor homes but most by car.  Those who allow enough time to stop when they feel like it, sight see and visit attractions along the way, perhaps even take a tour or to of some thing that interests them really enjoy it.  Those who set a certain number of miles to cover a day usually "Never want to try that again!"

I was finally able to get back to the message boards....it kept saying "down for maintenance" for 2 days.  I finally googled it and got to a page that said to clear my cache.  I did that and I'm back.  My MRI went well this morning.   Kind of hard to lie perfectly still with you girls wiggling around in there! They said I should hear something in 24-48 hours.

I hope everyone else's appointments went well.  Next for me is my annual gyno. next week.  We'll have to have another pocket party then.  I don't have a uterus to worry about, but I do have my ovaries still and of course, one breast left to watch.

chabba - that's a good point. We do have a required number of miles to drive per day and not a lot of time to dawdle about, and I do love dawdling. A lot to consider.

1openheart I emailed Jo and Tink and Jo told me to clear my cache as the same thing happened to me....2 plus days down for maintenance and the maintenance was saying 45 minutes.....that was the longest 45 minutes of my life.....

Jo I did go to that dark place but didn't stay there  as I know in my heart of hearts that it has to be the ulcer and nothing more, so don't ever fret about sending emails like that.  I really try not to overreact, but some days things get the better of  me.....

Sherry glad your gyno went well this morning.....

It's funny how days go by and I can't get on due to busy schedule, but when I really want to get on to chat and it tells me it is down for days it really screw with my head....ha ha

June - I saw the same thing with the maintenance - down for 45 minutes.  I don't know when the 45 minutes started but I could not get on that night and just went to bed.  It was up the next day.   I could not believe maintanace was being done on a holiday when some of us have the time to chat.
