Oh Chrissy! Liked it better when I didn't know what DVT meant. Do they treat that with blood thinners? NM, we need you! Chrissy, praying you have the very best care in the hospital, and have a super speedy recovery. Love you!

Oh Chrissy, sending prayers your way, as well as to your friend Sue. SO glad you got to the hospital and they are taking care of you. Do they give you "clot-busting" meds for that, so it can break up? Then make you lie very still? Heard that a long time ago, and not sure if that is what they still do. How did you know you had DVT? Was there pain besides the horrid pain from surgery? You poor dear, we will ALL get on the UFO pronto and be there with you. Until we get there, you know we are with you with all the positive healing thoughts and prayers being sent your way, okay? Please let us know more when you get a chance.

BIG (((HUGS))) and BIG LOVE being sent your way, Chrissy!!!!

Good morning, Loungettes! I know I've been MIA for a few days, this week I had to be in the office for meetings Tuesday and Wednesday, and I've gotten out of the habit of getting up early in the ams. Finally have a day I don't' have to go anywhere, hoping the rain will hold off long enough to do some garden work. I put in my verbal request for the 32 hour/4 day position that's just opened up at work. I'll be glad to be done with the 12 hour shift thing. If only I could work from home, maybe I'd be home long enough to get stuff done around here!

Scuby--not sure what the purpose of the yearly BS visit is, I have one coming up sometime this summer too. My BS does an exam looking for recurrences in the areas where breast tissue is left behind during a mastectomy, like under the arms, along the ribs and along the incision lines. But maybe yours does want to see the tattoo develop? ounds like its going to be great!

DorKable--absolutely we will come and be with you on May 18th. Definitely a sailabration is in order! YooHoo!

Wahine--you really are playing ketchup, aren't you? Holy Cow, 28 shows recorded? Lets see, at an average of 2 hours per show that 56 hours of watching time! Of course, if you skip over the commercials that cuts it down to 5 or 6 hours. . . .

Karen--I can understand being tired and cranky. I need that bit of down time between work and home stuff, too. And going steady for 12 hours is draining! I'm sure you'll get your final report done. Being afraid of not doing it right is pretty normal, especially when something like a bonus is riding on it. Hang in there!

Goldie--thank you so much for the prayer! Means a lot to me. Both of my supervisors and Christians, so they understand my thinking (and church attendance isn't my only reason for wanting the change). With seniority, etc, I stand a very good chance at getting the position. GREAT pic!!

Husker--I can see why you love those recipes! Pinterest is turning out to be a wonderful site. I'm recommitting to FlyLady, maybe we should form our own support group?

Bernie--YEAH!! I need a plaque like that for my HOUSE!

Mrs. Vino--"DVT" stands for Deep Vein Thrombosis" or a blood clot in one of the big, deep veins. Most often happens in the calf but can happen anywhere. Did you ever catch the "Deadly legs" commercials a while back, warning about blood clots and advertising one of the blood thinner medicines? That was referring to DVTs. It's a potential complication of anything that has you off your feet for any length of time. $30/month for a data plan? Doesn't sound so bad. I thought it would be a lot more. A name for the HTL Yacht. That's going to take some thinking. The Hot Tattie?

LOVE the DAZE dwinkies! I needs to taste one of each and decide which I like better. That may take some serious research!

DorKable--OK, my mind must not be dirty enough for the Lounge. I saw short term disability and never thought of the sexually transmitted disease translation!

Juliet--Welcome back online! I'm sure the rad docs numb up male patients before doing things to THEIR genitals. I think all rad docs are misogynists.

    Karen--I told you you'd get your project in! Do you think some of the stress is/was coming from the class taking up time in your schedule? 6 years can make a difference in your energy level, even without the trauma of bc and it's treatment. Give the Armour Thyroid and other stuff a bit longer to work, if your reserves have been depleted (and bc treatment will do that) it will take some time for the levels to get back up to functional levels. And don't worry about catching up here when you drop in. Just drop in and say hi, we all understand and we all are fine with that. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

HTL Yacht name idea: Beast Chaser

Bernie--What an amazing menu for the yacht launch! I'll hire you any day to cater any event!

I like DILLIGAF for the yacht name!!

Mema-- ketching up, while fun at times, is optional if you are time challenged. The dwink looks lovely, bet it tasted wonderful!

Wahine--bring the DVR to the lounge and have the tenders play it on the big screen over the pool! Then you can float and rest and ketchup all at once. And dwink, too, of course. Hurray for multitasking!

Chrissy--Oh, dear, not you! Be a good girl and do just as you are told, keep the leg up, take the blood thinners, and we will pray that little clots won't break off and run around causing trouble. Keep us updated!

In the states we don't give clot busting drugs for DVT's on a routine basis. Not because it wouldn't work but because the drugs have serious side effects that are worse than having a clot in your leg. So it's reserved for clots in the heart arteries and in the brain vessels, where the risk of death without the treatment is comparatively high. Current treatment here is rest with elevation of the leg above heart level (to help with the swelling and pain and to minimize the chance a bit of the clot will break off and circulate to the lungs, heart or brain and cause trouble), and blood thinners to keep the clot from growing while the body's systems are breaking it down. One of the problems with a DVT is that the clot, once it starts, keeps growing up and down the vein, and gows faster than the body's system that dissolves clots. It's a process that takes time. The clot can be removed surgically, but that is risky since surgery requires stopping the blood thinner and the stress of surgery makes the body want to make clots. So the person needs to go back on blood thinners ASAP after surgery, so there is a longer time when bleeding is a potential problem.

"some of dis" would be more attractive to me if he had less hair hanging in his face!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the DILLIGAF--drink one of these and you won't!
    1 oz Vodka
    1 oz Goldschlager
    1 oz Jagermeister
    1 oz Romana Sambuca
    1 oz Rumple Minze

    Directions
Mix the Jagermeister, Goldschlager, Rumple Minze, Romana black sambuca and vodka in a chilled highball glass with ice and serve cold, or combine in a cup, then microwave it, and serve hot.

Karen, Enjoy the rest of Passover! I know your guests will have a great meal. SO much cooking!!!

Yes, Chrissy, How are you doing? And your friend Sue? Still sending prayers out to you. And, ok, if you insist....or twist my arm...I will dwink for you. What are friends for???

Just had happy hour at my parents. Funny how they get different birds at their feeders than we do, and just a mile away. The finches were feeding their babies...love that sound. (I used to hand-raise our baby cockatiels and they would "peep" or screech when they would see ME). Saw a couple of herons fly in...think maybe they have a nest in a different place this year. Fish were jumping, ducks floating by. Got their tix today, for them to return to HI on May 24....but when I asked my dad when they wanted to return, he said "June 1st"....which is the first time he has mentioned coming right back! I know they won't, but it was nice to hear that he would like to.

Anyone around for Pau Hana? I can be talked into dwinking more, ya know. Great post as usual, NM! Sure hope you get that schedule that you want. Hugs all around! Kathy

Ok, I feel really, really bad about disappearing but I really miss you guys and I need a drink!

I used to hang out here but then my DH found my hiding spot and was disturbed by some of the things I said. I have to admit, I was not respectful, in fact I was unkind and probably portrayed him as being not a very nice person. I deeply regret that he read the things I said about him because it hurt him and I never meant to do that. I had become very elusive about my whereabouts and activities and was avoiding my home which made him suspicious, especially since his friend's marriage recently ended when his friend found out his wife was meeting men online and then carrying on real life affairs with them, and, well, he caught me laughing at my computer too often thanks to you ladies (NM! OMG I miss your morning posts so much!) and this only fueled his suspicions. I thought about our dearly departed friend last year, and one of us pondered about him getting into her messages and reading something hurtful. I just would never want that to happen to anyone on my account. I felt so bad about the pain I caused him that I gave up BCO cold turkey.

I have prayed about it and talked to a therapist and I was just so ashamed of myself and I realize that I wanted to punish myself by giving up something (can you tell I'm a recovering Catholic) ... oops I'm trying to be nice... sorry to the Pope and everyone else who still goes to Mass... anyway, I made a huge sacrifice -- you all mean so much to me. The support you have given me over the months... heck years... not to mention the laughs and tears and beers helped me through a really rough patch in my life and now I don't have that.

Over the past 6 months since I went away, I have been trying to put my life back together (while tormenting myself as much as possible) but I now see that you are a vital part of my recovery. Can I come back to the bar pweez? I promise to behave myself.

A big resounding YES!!!! Can you hear that reverberate off the HTL walls???  Oh Gail, I have missed you SOOOOO much! We had no way to contact you and were so worried, not knowing what had happened. It was such a delight to see that you have come back to us here. So sorry that your DH read those things. I guess I am kinda lucky that my DH is in the other room while I watch tv (and get on the puter) in this room. It was me that mentioned that I hoped our dear departed friends husband would not read all the posts.  I mean, hey, we ARE women, and we DO talk about our guys!!! I think by having each other to vent to, it keeps us from maybe saying something we might regret, to our loved ones (who can get on our nerves at times!). Oh, I am SOOOOOOO happy, I want to jump up and do the happy dance!!! Now you know, I expect to hear all about the projects you have done while you were MIA....you always did such neat things. Could you PULEEZ give your contact info to one of us here, so in case we ever worry about you again, we could make sure you are ok? If you don't want to, thats ok too, but just don't stay away so long! BTW, go back a page and look verrrrrry closely at the pic of the hunk that Lori posted...Mema spotted something there!!!!

Oh, where are my manners??? Pants, Jock, puleez get our Gail fixed up wid sum dwinks, she needs to ketchup!

    Hugs!

Yup, my darling DD just knew I would be champing at the bit wanting my puter so she bought it into me tis morning.............what a kid!!!!  Last scan to be done this afternoon and that will be a full body bone scan but I'm not too worried about that.  I've fed the vampires a few times now so I think they are sleeping well and won't need to stick me but I am going to need to talk to my BS about getting a port in as it has been a nightmare trying to find a producing vein or one big enough to be able to get CT contrast in.  Ho Hum.............I guess the only way for now is up as there's not much left on the down side.....lol.

Thanks for all youe lovely thoughts and prayers goils I really do appreciate them.  I spoke to Sue this morning and she is also doing better and has her treatment well under control now as well.  Thank you all for the extra prayers for her and I'm sure they worked.

Good morning, Loungettes! Pretty sunny morning here. Got some seedlings into the garden yesterday, but couldn't get the rototiller to start, not that I tried all that hard. Got the stiffness and aches to show for it, too! That's ok, a little exercise is a good thing, right?

Karen--you sure do a lot of cooking! Good for you! Enjoy your holiday and your guests.

Wahine--So glad your Dad wants to come right back! Even if they don't, it's nice to hear, isn't it?

DorKable--If/when I get the weekday position I will eventually get back into the habit of checking in and posting before going to work again. BUT--it's going to take me a while to relearn to get up early every morning again! You're up to 44 dwinkies? WTG, girl! And the Cotton Candy Martini looks way fun, but how do you make it???????

Mema--Good eyes, I had to go back and look and it still took me a while!

AStorm! Of course you can come back to the bar! I can understand giving up BCO for a while to get things sorted out. Here's hoping things work out between you and DH. Now belly up to the bar and start dwinkin', youse got lots of ketchuping to do!

Chrissy--your DD is a dear to bring you your 'puter! So thoughtful of her! Tests, tests and more tests, hospitals gotta get their money from somewhere!

Shoot, the weather man just said the weather is so beautiful it is a good start to our weekend...BUT....NOT....because Lisa just told us that Mr. Big got married!!! WTH???? DIdn't he know how much WE need him here??? Dang it, well, lemme tell you, she bettah be verrrrrry good to him, or we might have to send Dorkie's people after her.

Funny comment Alli, about the guy in the pic being a "Mr. Small"!! Hmmmm....might have to try that cotton candy martini one of dese days. Maybe the Tenders will make us some!

NM, wunnerful dwink for the DOTD, to welcome Gail back! Hope your weather stays nice, so you can get that #*%^&# rototiller started, WTH....is it on strike??? Darn, machines and equipment can be such a PIA at times....verrrry helpful when they work, but....

Well, hoping I can use the puter while my DH is having those procedures today. I like going there as a pt, as it is a small place, and very close. BUT when you are the person that has to stay there and wait, there is not much there. Just hoping his results will be good ones. Ha, it took him almost an hour last night to get all the limbs, etc that I cut down, out to the street. I don't think he realized how much I did the other day. Lots more to do, but am so hoping HE will help me next time. My back "pays me back" when I overdo it like that.

HAPPY FRIED-DEY, gawgeous loungettes!!! SO glad we have Gail back, now we need the others back too....TIeDye where are you?? HunkyD and Dee, we sure want you both back too!

Jaybird, where are you? Hope your mom recovered totally, from her surgery. Are you gonna watch the 20/20 show tonight about what goes on in airplanes? Should be "revealing"! LOL.

Hope ebbery1 has a wunnerful day!!!!

Kathy, we can't have too many hunks in the lounge, can we? It has to be so tranquil, sitting at your folks house, with all the wild life. I miss feeding the birds, but the variety of feeder birds is very small here. And so sweet that your dad said he wanted to come back right away. Tell them, they could always extend their stay. Good luck to your DH today, will be thinking of you both. As of Tuesday, Jaybird was in Frankfurt. Not sure for how long.

NM, I sure hope you get that position! Very cute Maxine cartoon. How can ya NOT like Maxine! Juggling clown is cute too. We have missed you!!!

Awwww Dorkable, so sweet to send Chrissy a spashul drinkie.

Oh mise gooness Mema, I looked at da picture. Hmmmmm, not sure. Not REAL clear, but could be???? Guess we all know where your eyes were!

GAIL!!!!! Are you kidding??? WELCOME BACK!!!  But I have to say, if you behave yourself, we don't want you! (just kidding you know). So sorry your DH found things, however, I don't believe you were being mean, I think venting is more like it. And at least you were hanging out with girlfriends and not looking for men online. Oh such biggggg biggggg hugs for you. So glad you are back. But I ask a favor, if you are gonna leave again, will ya let us know? We were so worried about you.

Chrissy, so sweet that your DD brought you your puter, now you can be close to us and see us close to you. And shoot, having to have a port put back in, just for a scan??? That certainly sucks. Glad your friend Sue is doing well too.

Scuby, what??? We can't have a married man in the lounge, that just won't do.

    LMAO Alli.......MrSmall!!!!!! Cracking up here.

Will have SEVERAL "Welcome Back Astgorm" today. ((((GAIL)))) And some of doze DILLIGAF's

    GLUB GLUB GLUB

Gail - Welcome back!  I understand all that 'guilt' stuff and the 'catholic' twist.  That wud b me too.  Still a believer and still pray but have worked for years with the guilt and I am easier on myself now.  The DH thing is tough, am sorry he had to see those posts, but I agree with WaWa about needing to vent to avoid saying things we'd regret.  I am lucky, my DH does get on my nerves sometimes, whose doesn't, but I share this thread with him alot.  I've gotten up and tended to dinner or clean up, leaving this site up and come back to find him scrolling and reading.  Do continue to visit and dwink with us, share what you feel you can with your DH, and let him kno that we can't possibly take things said on this thread too seriously because we're all just too dang DWUNK!!!  (((Gail)))

WaWa - will be praying with you for DH that his test turn out REALLY REALLY GOOT!
