Jo we will be with you tomorrow.  Hope they can do the IV after you are under.  I know you will feel so much better when this is done.

Linda and Odie thanks so much for the support

slgarcia-congrats on being in remission and no onto this part of your journey.  I have not had the best experience with tammi so I don't want to scare you and will let someone else weigh in here that has not had as many problems.  Yes there are plenty of people who take it with no problems and go on with life.  I hope you are one of those people.  But this is a great place to hang for support.

Jo:  Good luck tomorrow.  We'll all be there with you.  And hopefully they will be cooperative and put the darned IV in after you are under.

June:  Have a great vacation and enjoy yourself!!

Jo.....I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.  I know you will do great and it never hurts to ask if they can place your IV after you are under.  But, it not, just remember to relax, take lots of deep, slow breaths and to remind yourself  you have endured much greater hurts and procedures than having an IV started and that you will survive this too!  Try not to put too much energy into worrying about a possibly bad experience.  Think instead about having the best, most experienced IV starter in the world working on you!

June....have a great vacation and try to cancer on the back burner for a few days.

Jo - Good luck tomorrow, I hope they put the IV in after you're under. Just imagine how happy you'll be when this is all over and how good it's going to look!  I will be thinking of you!

June - Hope you have a great vacation and are feeling good!

Linda - One more week!  I can't wait for you!!

Jo, wishing you all the best.

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone for all the support.  Easter with family went better than I thought.  Not great, but at least a beginning.  Seem a little more open to talking now that they think it is over lol.  It helps to know that others understand.

Didn't post last week because I was feeling lousy and I couldn't even stand my whiny self.  Feeling better this week.  Trying to be positive and not live in fear, but not quite there yet.  But glad I could check in here and see how everyone was doing.

Last week was definitely a pity party for me.  Not my usual style.  Think more hormonally imbalanced than usual in retrospect.  Weepy and frustrated over stupid stuff.

Had a cold 3 weeks ago, just a sore throat for a couple of days, very mild.  Then I started getting short of breath, which freaked me out!  Stayed like this for 2 weeks, then went to see my family doctor (had for 24 years) who said to relax, it is just your asthma, fill your prescription and use it, probably set off by minor cold and inflamation in lung and ribs as only 6 wks post rads.

Last week started spotting, then comes the "is this the unusual bleeding they are talking about" thing.  It lasted a week.  Guessing in hindsight it was actually a pitiful attempt at a period.

Now I wonder when, getting sick is just getting sick again?  When do we stop freaking out over every symptom?  Like my doc said, it is just a cold.  How did we get to be happy to only have asthma or that the light up on the bone scan is arthritis?

When I was home at Easter my mom says "I had a bone scan too". How do I get her to understand a scan to check on her knee replacement, etc. is not the same as having one done where is says "cancer staging" on the form (ie looking for mets).   Even a blood test is not just a blood test any more.  They are always looking for something.

They tell us not to live in fear, but I think I maybe need the perspective of a few good scans and follow-ups to get to that point.

Anyone else get past scanxiety yet?  It seems like a lot to deal with on top of the day to day fun of Tamox.

Thanks for listening. Feels better to just put it out there. My hubby is a rock, but I know he worries too and it just feels like I am burdening him more when I share my fears over every little thing.

Jane I think its normal to feel the way you do.  Heck I had a nasty cold earlier this year and finally broke down and went to the doctors.  I have issues with doctors anyways, so that just makes it worse. I just dont flat out trust them and that makes it harder for me. But anyways when I was talking with the nurse, she says its normal that a cancer patient feels gun shy as she put it.  She said to just give it time.  I've only been past full on treatment less then a year.  My sissy thinks the same.  She said that if I were say 3+ years out then yea I have something I need to see someone about.  I dont like to really share whats going on with my family either.  I just don't like freaking them out.  Thats why I like coming here to get me fears out.

did anyone have to go off an anti-depressant top start Tamoxifen? If so, do you mind sharing what you took and how it did or didn't work for you?  I just found out on another forum that my prozac and tamoxifen won't mix.  You would have thought my MO might have mentioned this in my consult trying to decide if i wanted to take it or not.  many thanks to the person who took the time to post this information for me!

Sherry thanks for the update on Jo. she has been on my mind all morning!

Thanks for the pocket party ladies. Went this morning and my eyes are actually still fuzzy from the dilation. He did all kinds of tests including an eye ultrasound. He said I had some refractory thing on the retina but not to worry it wasnt from the Tam. He said recheck every 6 months just to be sure so all is ok for now... thanks again you all are the best!!!!

cancerstinks... yes many do interact. My onc recommended effexor, as it is one of the few that does not. I did not take it but I know some of the ladies on here have... good luck!!!!!

Thanks again ladies .. you all are my sunshine!!!! love ya

CancerStinks -- I was taking Wellbutrin and had to go off and switched to Effexor -- started that 3 weeks before I did the Tamoxifen --- and all is good so far (started Tamoxifen at Easter)

So happy to hear Jo okay.

Tink glad you got ok news about eyes. Tami aged my eyes in a couple of months and I needed to get glasses, but know I was very happy when eye dr said not retina, cataracts etc.

Yahoo Tink!!!!!!  I'm so happy that the Tami isn't the source.

CancerStinks I have seen other woman ask that same question WHY.  I wondered that also.  I make for sure now anytime I take a medication that I check www.drugs.com  before I take anything.  I do know that several women here have said that they take effexor instead.  I tryed it but that was for the hot flashes. I gave up on it back in Dec.  It really did do a number on my mind.  That was one reason why I stopped taking it.  I thought I was going stark raving mad and couldn't take that anymore.  But it does do different for others.

So glad to hear that Jo is recovering so well.  I was thinking of her today and sending healing, pretty boob thoughts her way.  Did she get the IV done after she was under?    I hope so.

openheart I asked her about the IV.  I know how scared she was of it.  But she had a really good nurse who distracted her and talked to her and before she knew it it was over and in.
