Thanks for all the birthday greetings....I love the clogs...but did I miss the cake? did Stella eat it all? It has been a great birthday.....pictures are posted on fb of my presents....I have the best kids.....DD#2 made me breakfast....a waffle with two candles saying 56.....then I came home to flowers from my DS.....DD#1 and SIL got me pretty pearl earrings....DD#2 got me silver earrings from Brighton...and for a 14 year old, she spent a lot of money....I made a comment and she said, well your my mom.....DD gave me the clogs that I've worn every day since I got them (they are pair #4) and my Mom sent me money for a mani/pedi....Think I'll try to get it Thursday....Friday I will be downtown all day with DD#2 for the Shakespeare festival...and then I'm staying at a hotel in one of the suburbs so I can go the the Day of Caring on Saturday.... Oh yeah....after DD induction into the National Junior HOnor Society, DD, DS and I went out to dinner....A very nice day indeed.....Chrissy....doing the happy dance for your good check up...
Got to order my Mom her mother's day gift....keep debating between a present like earrings or flowers...leaning toward the flowers as she has liked them in the past.....DH got his Mom cookies...DD#1 talked to my MIL last night and called DH today to say grandma was complaining about all sorts of ailments so DH called his mother to see what is going on....MIL has some sort of lung disease, but we don't know anything else...she goes to her pcp on Thursday...DH is going to call his mom to tell her to sign a release so my DH can call the doctor...I guess my MIL has been coughing a lot for a couple months....her late husband who she was married to for 20+ years was a very heavy smoker and she is worried about what the 2nd hand smoke could have done (even though she has been widowed for 15 years)...MIL is 84...DH told her that he would be there in a moments notice is she needed...DH tried to call his brother today, but his brother was getting ready to go into a meeting...don't know if they have talked since, since DH is at a show and had a business dinner tonight...the next two days will be crazy hectic for DH, but hopefully he will be able to find something out...I just hope and pray that it is not lung cancer...all MIL knows its some lung disease....

D***, D***, D***, F***, F***, F***......just found out that an acquintance lost her battle with the beast.....she was first Dx over 14 years ago, mets 7 or so years ago and new primary 6 years ago right after I was Dx....she gave it a valiant fight.....this breaks my heart......she leaves 2 daughters in their 20's and a husband.....I soooo wish I could cry....When are we going to find a cure and an end to this dastartly beast!!!!

Crazy busy week. Ray left on a business trip this am, be back Friday night. Meanwhile, have to pack up everything at the salon, and move out Saturday, because we will be closed for a month for renovations. Going to work all day Monday from home, surgery Tuesday, then back to work on the 23rd in a salon down the street for three weeks, then back here. DDBIWW is really getting on my nerves. OK, ladies, I need a crying towel and a Clog Cocktail or 2 or 3. Just got home from the MO apppointment, she said I'm due for another bone density test. OK, fine. Go to check out, the woman says she'll print off and give me a sheet for the bone density test. OK, fine. I get home and the sheet is a doctor's order form for the test. That's all. So I called the office and the woman tells me that I'm supposed to book my own appointment and keep track and set up my own appointments when it's due. ??????? No phone number, no address, nothing else to work with. I'm on the phone in tears because I don't have any of this information, I don't know where to call, how often this needs to be done, especially since I'll be off the Arimidex in October. But I'm supposed to take care of it all myself! The MO said that when I see her in September I can decide if I want to keep going on the Arimidex or stop, since it will be 5 years of hormone therapy (she's counting the time I was on tamoxifen, which I don't think was working, but that's another story). I think I'll go ahead and stop. My MO doesn't see early stage bc patients after they are off hormone therapy, and not having to drive 90 miles for these appointments would be a bit of a relief.
I met with the Medical Director of the ER and the clincial director of the ER yesterday about the "Damned Cancer patient" comment and the other issues I had when I was there. The doc kept referring to the chart and asking about different things, none of which I knew a thing about. I beleive I got the message across that I was treated like a piece of trash they just wanted to get rid of. I laid it out, in detail (and in tears, of course) and made it clear in no uncertain terms how angry and upset I was. I also told them that they have a reputation in the cancer survivor community of being that way, and that I had been warned not to go there or not to let them know that I was a cancer survivor if I ever did. The Med Director was not happy, and neither was the clinical director. I do believe that I'm going to get my face-to-face apology from the ER doc, who I identified for them from their staff photos.
Ok, I'm sitting here crying, trying to figure out what to do about the bone density thing, I'll probably just blow it off, can't be very important if they expect me to schedule it myself without knowing where or having a phone number or if I even need it after the arimidex is done. For that matter, if that's going to be done in October why should I bother with a bone density test at all? Oh, frig, I'm babbling on like an idiot. Time to go get some serious dwinking done, at least I know how to do that.

NM the bone density is usually done at the same places that do scans, xrays etc. It is important that you get it done as it will tell you if you have lost any bone density from being on the Arimidex as that is a side effect. Another reason you need to get it done is as we age, we do loose bone density naturally . Add that to the Arimidex and you could find yourself in a whole heap of trouble with osteoporosis. It's non invasive and takes about fifteen minutes, you don't even have to disrobe. If you can't find a phone number ring the docs rooms again and ask for it.
So glad that your meeting with the big wigs went so well and you do really deserve that face to face apology from the ER doc. Hope he gets his come uppance from the big boys!

NM, here is a big hug for you (((( KIM )))). I am so sorry you are feeling sad. I would guess that the events of yesterday already had your emotions stirred up then add the doc appointment and a feeling that no one cares, I can see why you are upset. It could not have been easy to relive that day in the ER with that pig doctor who should not even be practicing, uhhh that pi$$es me off so much. Have you thought about switching MO''s? If you are covered, you should find one that will direct you accordingly. Or could you see your PCP and have him/her help you coordinate your appointments, scans and such? That does not seem right that the staff there would not direct you. And I think Chrissy is right, you would go wherever to go for an xray.

Yes. yes, yes, Mese iz here for Pau Hana, Dorkie! Actually, sitting on the covered deck on a rocking chair at our unit, looking at the gorgeous mountains surrounding us. One is Mt.Mansfield (sp?), the tallest in VT. Everyone else is inside napping!!!! It has started raining, just a nice gentle rain, but was nice and dry for us all day when we drove into Burlington. Dotty the INR is the little pin prick blood test that is done every few days to monitor the rate that my blood clots so I know how much coumadin to take. It is a dangerous drug and if my INR is too high I could have a spontaneous bleed that would be very hard to stop and if it's too low the possibility is there for me to form another clot in my system so it's pretty important that I keep the level between 2 and 3. Today it was 2 but for the last 6 days it has been close to 1 and had me in the danger zone for another clot.
Wow!!! How did I ebber wemember all dat wif all that booze in ma system.....lol.......I sink ise up to dwink number 9 sows ise still gots a ways to go................BURP!!!!......ooops......don know where dat comed from.....lol....but it sure felt good!

Hello again,
I just received the very sad news that my FIL (technically my ex-FIL) passed away today. He was a terrific person and will be sadly missed. I always refer to him as my FIL as DH's father passed away many years ago and I CHOOSE to call Dad as he was very dear to me and my DD. I have not even told DH, I stepped away when the phone rang so I think he has a feeling. I am very sad. My MIL is a mess, ex DH is hanging in there alright. It has been difficult for all of them since he took a fall over a year ago and had not walked since.
I have to call my parents and let them know, they also love my ex inlaws, we have spend every Christmas at my home since I married Ron back in 1990. This year was the first year that they did not make it over for Christmas day. I am asking for prayers for MomK, RonK, my BIL Gary and all of the grandchildren including my Jessica. She is on a retreat and can only be contacted for emergencies so we agreed to wait until she gets home on Friday to tell her. She will be upset, she spent a lot of time there and still goes to see them occasionally on the weekends. She was up there just a few weeks ago for his birthday. Damn, this is the stuff in life that stinks the most. RIP Dad K. Hey, maybe he will get to meet our own June Bug?
