Wow Lynn. That's interesting. Maybe that's why no one ever mentioned anything about microsurgery options to me. Granted I did know about them. BTW I am one of those who are happy with my boobie prizes (implants). I wasn't interested in more scars, etc that microsurgery involves. I didn't have rads so I didn't have any complications.
Hi Doing. Glad you found us. Good luck with they MO tomorrow. Next time you are in Chicago at NW and feel like a visit let us know. There's a few of us here in the city.
Cindi2011 Cancer Centers of America have excellent reputation but I have no experience myself. Do you know your hormone/HER2 status?
Robo send me your photo and I'll reduce it for you. I have photoshop.
valerie you go girl. The work outs can wait. You don't want to overdue it. You'll be able to work out at the normal levels soon enough.

Robo ~ I'm going to the pic forum just to look. You got me laughing. I can only imagine what is under that fantastic hat you had on last week!

Who is walking with me in Geneva on Friday around 12:30pm? Anyone???? Let me know. If you plan to come and want my cell phone number, PM me. Want to meet at St. Mary's Park near the river?
I went to a new med onc today and ditched the one from NW. I really liked the new med onc. He actually listened to me and did not run for the door while I was talking. He spent an hour with me since I was a new patient to him. I feel much better now that I found a new med onc.
Anyone enjoying this great weather? I am gardening like mad! The new house has so many gardens that need some attention. Looks like I will be busy for a while. Anyone want to come and help me spread 10 yards of mulch? LOL! That should be fun..........
Hope you are all doing well! Joan I hope you get those drains out!

I love it Robo......but I thought they said we'd get red or blond curly hair. Oh well, I didn't get it either. Got my same mousy brown, fine, thin flat to my head hair......and I have a bald spot now where my cowlick is......but like my gray hair....it's in back and I never see it.....so most of the time I don't think about it or remember it is there. Sort of reminds me about that poem....don't know the whole thing
"my face, I don't mind it,
because I'm behind it
It's the folks out in front
that I jar....
so I never worry much about the hair ( figure my gray won't increase too fast if I don't ) and just keep getting body perms...........like I've done most of my life.
Doing -- glad you decided to come on in. This is a very nice place and you can get a lot of questions anwwered, and have lots of understanding and care from people in the same boat -- and meet for lunch from time to time.....and just be yourself.
See you all tomorrow.....I need to get into my recliner for the duration.
Hugs, Jackie

Robo I dyed my hair as soon as I decided to go topless. I do believe it was much shorter than yours but my hair has always been so think. Even the lady at the wig place said I could lose 1/3 of my hair and no one would notice. I think once your hair gets a little longer you won't notice the places it's taking it's time to fill in. I think Adey's hair grew at a similar pace as yours. My hair always grew super fast so don't compare your hair growth to mine.
Here is the reduced Robo pics:

MDG, I've got my square foot garden growing at my hubby's house (Elk Grove) and will plant my earth boxes there tonight with tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beans, and squash. My mom and I have been actively getting my garden going at my house in Homewood (yes we are property rich and cash poor....just got married last summer and can't get rid of my house). I have earthboxes there and also plant in the ground. It is so great to see those tender young green plants coming through the soil and I just love eating the produce fresh from the garden. I have more property than my hubby so most of my garden goes there. I don't know what I will do when we are finally down to one house.
First day back to work went uneventfully. The big boss and others were out of the office so it was a great day to get back in and see what is going on before demands start. I did get tired but not overly so.
I am supposed to get the latest path report back this morning but have to call the office before my appointment so I don't waste my time. Surgeon doesn't have office hours tomorrow so if I don't get them today, I probably won't hear until Thursday. I'm supposed to get the radiation catheter placed on Thursday. One step at a time.
I've been active on a weight loss website for about 8 months now but have really slowed because I just can't do those exercises right now. I'm about 15 lbs from goal weight and really frustrated because this darned BC has interfered with my progress, lol. The site just announced a new challenge which is 1) reading 700 pages of self help books; 2) cooking 7 new recipes from the site; and 3) walking 70 miles in the next 2 weeks. What a great way for me to get back to a normal routine! I'm taking a walk after work just to get myself started!

Neat pics, Robo!
Welcome, Doing! I'm so glad you decided to post! Come often and tell us more about yourself!

Robo ~ I think your hair is looking very good! I don't see a bald spot at all. Does it help to take prenatal vitamins to get the hair to grow back faster? I always had really crazy hair growth when I was pregnant. My Mom is taking the prenatal vitamins and I think it may be helping. You may get strange looks at the pharmacy when you pick that up. LOL~!0

Robo, Your hair is looking good. Mine was shorter than that when I first went w/o a hat. It came in mostly white so the bald spots blended with my hair. I'm like lago in that my hair grows really fast. It's about 1 1/4" on top, growing slower. I've had to cut it twice in the back and sides to keep it even. I was sooooooo impatient with the growth. Now it is wierdly wavey on top, straight on the sides and super curly in the back, mostly salt with a little pepper. Not sure what to do with it other than to keep it really short until the texture evens out.
I wore light summer hats and a baseball cap until I had enough coverage to prevent sunburns, and to keep people from staring when it was so short.
I got my eyebrows back right as the last few hairs were falling out. Don't know how to help you there, but I was most concerned with losing all of them, more so than my hair.

Good morning on this bright sunny morning. Doing.....great to hear you feel rapport with your MO. When someone is helping you direct getting your life back on track you need to feel good/positive about and with them.
Jenn....I think I could 'feel' your thrill almost riding that horse. They have a lot of strength and power. I feel a little timid around horses --- I'm glad for you.
I'm not sure, but I think the eyebrows....maybe even some other hair, can come and go for awhile, but the re-growth on the head hair pretty much stays -- with a few changes.
Hope you are all going to have a fantastic day.
Hugs, Jackie

Robo - my brows never completely left but they are definately thinner than before chemo. I am ok with that though....they were too thick before! I hope all grows back quickly....hang in there.
Who is walking on Friday? Anyone???? Let me know. As of now I don't have anyone committed. If it's not a good day, we can plan something next week or skip it. No big deal. Let me know though.
I will look at my schedule Jen for the 22nd and let you know. That may be fun!
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this fine weather!!! I am off to the gym this morning...gotta go!

Good morning ladies. Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day.
mdg- Can't do Friday as I have a DEXA scan and then am going to Appleton for an ultimate frisbee tournament.
Lago- Yes frisbee! Don't my girls do the wackiest sports? BTW it's not frisbee golf, it's kinda like rugby or football but no tackling. (c:

Quiet group here lately. Suppose everyone is enjoying this great weather. Mdg.. I cannot make the walk tomorrow. Have to pick up DH at OHare. I have been getting in a good brisk 3-mile walk everyday. Stil cannot do much else for exercise after my surgery.
I still have my lovely drain...been just over 5 weeks. Ugh. I sent my PS an email a couple days ago cause lately the drainage is going up, not down. He wants me to come see him on Monday. I am not too interested in being in the city during the NATO Summit. I am hoping that the protests stay peaceful. My appt is not until 515p, so maybe it will be winding down by then.
Robo... I just looked at my five month PFC photo, and my hair looked like yours. I tossed the scarves and wig at that point... Even though it was the dead of winter. Brrr!0 -
Joan you should be OK for 5:15 especially at NW. Most people will be leaving that morning and the protests are in the loop. But…
I have an interview tomorrow morning on Wacker. Not happy about that but it's better than later in the day or Monday morning. It's for a temp job. I'll keep you posted on that.
Saw the LE MD today. I still have some pitting in my fore arm in one area. He said I could go for PT or start doing the massage but in the end all these are temporary. He also said maybe some foam in that area but it would look funny… Hmmm oh you think? My arm would look like a snake that just swallowed a bull frog. I think I'm going to pass on that idea. Both my upper arms got bigger but he says that's probably due to the 7lbs I put on and the muscle I developed from weight training. I like to think the latter. So that's my exciting life.

BTW invisible had surgery today and according to the keeper of her cell phone (her daughter I think) she did great. (They must of had to pry that phone out of her hand. She was texting me while on the gurny).

Lago - thanks for the update on Invisible. Glad she is doing OK.
As far as the walk - I don't think anyone can make it. We will have to try again in the coming weeks. I will hit the gym in the morning and do a mile for each of you (LOL!).
Joan - I hope that drain comes out Monday!!!! Yikes! 5 weeks....I feel for you

Hey ladies. Need to pointers on leg cramps. I've been working now for 2 weeks and they really hurt by the end of the day. Any tips

Thanks for the update on Invisible..............healing vibes going out to her.

PS gave me a choice of seeing him before surgeries at 730am or after at 515pm. I am not a morning person anymore and figure the protesters will be more fired up in the morning than late afternoon. Problem is, the METRA station and water taxi pier are adjacent to Boeing.. And that is where alot of the demonstrations are scheduled. Boeing actually told their employees to stay home on Monday. I got an automated phone call from NW warning me to allow lots of extra time to travel to my appt on Monday. Oh, brother. I am hoping maybe this drain will behave over the weekend and I can cancel.
Lago... I have a couple of those foam swell pads to wear under my sleeve in a couple places. They are hard to get in there so I have hardly ever used them. Good luck with the interview.
Mdg... I would love to walk with you... Maybe after Memorial Day weekend.
Invisible.... Thinking of you. Check in when you are up to it.0 -
Holy smokes, I go away for a few days and you gals fill page after page! Can't wait to get caught up. Missed you all.

Lago,
Good luck with your interview. I would hate to be in Chicago this weekend. My future-daugher-in-law has today and Monday off because of the Summit. My daughter works right down by the train station, but her employer is too stupid to close up shop for a few days even thought they keep getting memos from the city.
Both kids are coming to Peoria to visit me for the weekend. Just got my tx2 yesterday so I be feeling crappy, but am looking forward to seeing them. I had a horrible reaction yesterday to the taxotere as soon as the infustion started, but was quickly remified. I thought I was going to die. They had to put O2 on me, I was beat red, heart rate way high. Oh yea, and they made a mistake on my CBC report from last week and my platelet levels were within the range, but the lab made a mistake and reported them too low. Not a good day for me. Waiting for the steriod crash to end today so the real "fun" will start. Probably as soon as my kids (and their two dogs) get here. BTW, I have two goldens, so it will be crazy and today is my husband's birthday too!
Wish me patience this weekend as well as relatively good health!

kjiberty, hope your se's are at a minimum so you can enjoy your visit
lago, good luck with the job!
joan, 5 wks...wow, you're a trooper
good luck chicago gals with the upcoming traffic

Sorry I couldn't make the walk. maybe next time. I have family coming into town tomorrow, and guess what? I am under a major appliance black cloud........ the dryer is broken now, so I spent most of yesterday at the laundromat, and will have to make another trip today!
My husband was bemoaning our bad luck, after the washer, water heater and dishwasher all needed to be replaced in the past six months.... I reminded him that last year this time I was just starting rads and we were having a lot of bad luck with our health...... this is a nuisance, nothing more.
Hope everyone gets to enjoy this hot weather this weekend! My niece is visiting, and we had hoped to spend some time downtown, in between soccer games, but I'm thinking that maybe the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Oak Park and the Morton Arboretum will be more suitable. Anyone have any other suggestions for "touristy" things to do in the 'burbs?
0 -
Kjiberty, I had the exact same reaction last week and it was my second infusion. Once they pumped me with benadryl and started it up again, it went fine.
Lago, good luck on your interview. My DH lost his job at the end of 2010. He was very down and I told him that in the end you will be happier. I was right, he found a job that he loves, he was miserable at the old place.
I hope all you wonderful ladies have a great weekend. Much love to you all!0
