Julie, funny isn't it, after working in the medical field, how it takes a LOT to gross us out. I worked for many years in a nursing home, and then in an adult day care, before going to work with kids.

Grabbing me some Too Busy To Work drinks, to go with my mimosa..............and off to get some much needed cleaning done, and hoping to make some more sketti sauce this weekend. I sure hope it's good, or I am going to be quite upset!!!!!!

Kumis is a dairy product made from the fermented milk of a female horse. Because mare's milk contains more sugars than the fermented cow's or goat's milk, kumis has a higher, though still mild, alcohol content. Kumis is made by fermenting mare's milk over the course of hours or days, often while stirring or churning. (The physical agitation has similarities to making butter). During the fermentation, Lactobacilli bacteria acidify the milk, and yeasts turn it into a carbonated and mildly alcoholic drink - basically fizzy mouldy horse milk. One other property of this revolting drink is that it has a laxative effect.

Referred to as ‘stink heads' fermented salmon heads are a traditional Alaskan delight. After the heads are lopped off, they're buried in the ground for at least a few weeks. As you'd expect, during this time the heads begin to rot. Before they have a chance to disintegrate completely, they're dug up, mashed into a sort of pudding and served cold in bowls.

Sometimes referred to as ‘maggot cheese', casu marzu is a Sardinian cheese made from goat's milk. But what makes this food so disgusting is the way it's prepared. Early in the fermenting process, the larvae of cheese flies are introduced. Over a period of weeks, the larvae hatch and begin feeding. As the cheese's fats are broken down, a special flavor is produced which many consider to be delicious. When the time comes for human consumption, many people meticulously remove the maggots. However, some leave them in, believing that they add an extra flavorful punch.

Speaking of hotels, THANK GOD my DD and her family and her DH's family are staying in a hotel when they arrive in less than 2 wks. Because the contractor came...OMG....can I have a stiff drink...no wait, I think I need the entire bottle. Damn (oops!)....he thinks we need to replace ALL the wood on the house, the entire back is wood, about half of the front is wood. SOOOO much $$$$$. I can't deal with having everything torn up like that. Hard enough knowing we HAVE to do the front. And there is not an exact match with the non-wood (concrete stuff, like Hardi Board, looks like the lap siding), so can't just do here-and-there. And I DON'T like giving the key and having them do it when we aren't here...he was surprised that I felt that way. HUH????? Anyway, this really SUX big time. We both (Dh and I) have headaches now. So big moola just doing the front, anyway. Ins guy comes out Tues, then this guy will try to be there at same time. IF ins covers it, then just have $1k deductible, if not.....well.....lotta empty pockets. And with our trips, has to wait till next month, then just have a short *window* of time to get it done before we are off again. Have my skydive booked for the 14th, so hope they can work around that, too. Don't want stress on that day foah shuah.

Chrissy - no, don't go out of your way, jes curious.  I have saved many things of my kids and some will embarrass them after I'm gone.  My son leaned toward art, DD leaned toward writing, her gammy even gave her an old manual typewriter.  I will go thru these things again...well...hopefully later rather than sooner...but I jes think so cool that you hung on to these things.  U a spashall g'ma!!!
