Longislandmom...my Ps doesn't use drains at exchange...some do though.

no drains for me

Depending on the extent of surgery and exactly what the PS needs to do once she gets inside, drains may be used.0

After my lumpectomy my nipple was inverted, so I posted this. Luckily, it returned after I had my mastectomy and the tissue expander must have pushed it back out.

Mine also said no for drains. I am getting closer to exchange. I can't wait to have these cement blocks removed!!!

Lisa96 you are tooooo funny!
My exchange is 9/4. I plan to go to class on 9/6 even if my mother needs to drive me there. Am I being too unrealistic? I really need to take this class in order to find work.

My PS said no drains for me.

Drain on reduction side, no drain on exchange side

Dunesleeper - I was also in school this summer after my exchange. I skipped my class the next day, but did go to the one 3 days later. I see no reason why you can't go sit in class if someone drives you there the next day, though, if you feel okay.

I am having my exchange on 8/21. It will be out patient and no drains.

I'm having a "double-fill" tomorrow. What to expect? Will it be painful???
Reason is because my PS is moving and since he put the TE in... I'd like him to do the exchange. Got the TE in January.0 -
shera - what size are your normal fills? If they're 60ccs, then I guess a "double fill" would be 120 ccs?
My biggest fill was 180 ccs, and I did o.k. But I was also overweight, had tons of loose skin, very lax pec muscles, and no rads.
Do you have any Valium? That seems to be the muscle relaxer of choice.
Hope you do just fine!

I just finished my fills two weeks ago, finished with 900cc's. Implants will be High profile gummies at 800cc's. December 6 is my surgery date. I had my expanders put in last September but got a "flat tire" so had to have them changed out in April. Finally I see a light at then end of the tunnel. I was a small B but am going for a DD, I am a big girl so my PS says they will look like they belong our motto has been - go big or go home. I went big LOL
I have been told I would have no drains, day surgery and 3 weeks off (lots of time to prepare for Christmas!!!) I can't wait to have the lead ballons replaced.
I will have Extra strength Tylenol only as I am allergic to Codine and have only used Tylenol thru the whole process. They gave me Oxycodone but it made me sick so just stuck with Tylenol Extra strength.

Shera, I usually got 30 per fill and the few times I did 60 really hurt. But it seems others can do 100 or more no problem.
YYC, good luck with your exchange. Im allergic to codine, vicodin and most narcotic painkillers make me throw up. After my exchange I took regular Tylenol and felt ok. I also took ativan to help me sleep, like I do most nights.
Question for anyone who had exchange at least a few months ago. Mine was 3/28 and I feel pain / zingers in the foobs. Almost feels like electric shock. Kind of worried about it. Has anyone had this? I thought they were supposed to be numb, and the skin is mostly numb, I just feel some twinges inside them every so often. Any ideas?0 -
Shera .. I did 100 per fill and never had any pain just some tightness. About half a muscle relaxer and I was good.

SHORE1...I've had those mildly with expanders and believe its nerves regenerating.
0 -
Shore1, I didn't have my exchange yet, soon, though. I also get those sharp needle-like pains now and then, more right after my fills. They're weird.
Along this same thread, had anyone had itching deep in the tissues where the skin is still numb? It just started with me about 2 weeks ago. It's intermittent, but it reminds me of when you get novacaine at the dentist's, and as it wears off, there can be some itching that really can't be relieved, because the area is still numb!

Mariwyl....yes!

Thanks for replies, but im past exchange and still having twinges inside the implant area. I know TE causes weird twingy pains, but has anyone experienced this months after exchange?
0 -
Shore- I get those twangy twinges sometimes and I am 9 months past my exchange. I had heard that it was nerve regeneration but don't know for sure.

Hello

Will I be the same size (small C) if my TE and silicone implant are 400ccs?0 -
If I remember my anantomy correct, nerves regenerate approx. an inch per month. "Twinges" can be felt for a very long.

how long do we have to do the massage thing
0 -
what's the "massage thing"? can you describe it?

O.K., ladies - if you have already completed your exchange surgery, please tell me if any of you had a "lateral capsulorraphy" done at the same time.
This involves narrowing of the pockets. Since my implants will be approximately 2 cm smaller in width than my TEs, there is some question of lateral movement. At first the PS said no, I wouldn't need this. But on Monday, he said he would reconsider once he got in there and saw what he had to work with.
Of course, my question is, did it hurt more? Cause a longer recuperation? Give you any problems down the line?
I know mostly this is done with revision surgery, not simple exchange. But since my weight loss, the noobs will be smaller to accommodate my smaller frame.

I already know he will be releasing more of the pectoral muscle near the IMF, so the implant fills up the loose skin better. And yes, I know that will hurt more. I remember those sensations from right after BMX when the TEs were settling at the bottom.
But I was curious about the lateral capsulorraphy. Anyone?

Blessings - I had my exchange last week and needed pocket revisions due to weight loss. PS told me I really made him work for it, but he was very happy with results. I definitely am more sore than I anticipated, but feel much better after having the drain removed on Monday. Can't tell you long term recovery, but would also be interested in others' experiences.

Oh, thank you, JamieB86 - and congratulations on your weight loss AND your exchange!!!
At first, the PS said definitely no drains, but after describing the lateral capsulorraphy, I wasn't so sure. I really didn't mind the drains after the BMX
because I knew they were just temporary. I guess it all comes down to a matter of trust in my PS, I guess.I've lost 55 pounds total, and 7 inches off my chest. I have in Amazon-sized TEs, and I'm anticipating quite a bit of pocket work once he gets in there.
But I postponed my exchange purposely for this very reason. I want the right-size implants the first time.
Thanks so much for your reply! Hope your results are awesome!!!

Wow Blessings, good for you!!! Mine wasn't quite that much, but I really didn't want to resign myself to being the weight I was since I'm a Uni-MX. Nothing will motive me more than the thought of being lopsided!! Better to wait and be happy I felt. So far I'm thrilled.
He didn't anticipate drains, but he told my DH he hadn't realized how much weight I had lost. Then told him I looked great
He's my new favorite surgeon. They were only in for 4 days. Now the challenge is to once again to be patient and let things heal. I've been very active trying to get this weight off, and I'm paranoid I'm going to put it back on again!!! Hope you have awesome results too.
