So, I saw the nurse at the PS's office to do to show off my "dent"...yep...it has fallen, but she has seen worse. Told her that I am getting this weight off no matter what and she said to hold off on the nipple reconstruction because I could have headlights pointing at the floor, LOL!

I never knew what implants I had, but I have 800cc ones...will find out the style/brand later.  She said they are super heavy implants and it can be hard for the sutures to hold that much weight.  Maybe after I lose this weight I should go a bit smaller?  Anyway...not a serious thing but I didn't want him to be surprised when I showed up at my appointment at the end of August.  Until then, and basically from now on, I will be in a super supportive bra 24/7, which I have been doing anyway.

Tina, do you know what is the optimum protocol to evaulate integrity? I have an area on my right side that has been painful for many, many months all the way back to exchange.  I can now see wrinkles and folds in the skin right above the area and the bra cup fits more loosely in that area now.  I thought it might just  be sinking into the chest wall, but also wonder now if it my have leaked and maybe that is the source of this pain.

MondaysChild - Sorry, I don't know what the optimum protocol is.  All I know is that the imaging center needs to know if the MRI is being done to look for implant integrity/leaks or for lumps/tissue/lymph node evaluation.  The scan is acquired and processed differently and typically they will not do both in the same imaging session.  Your ordering physician needs to order the MRI to rule out implant leaks to get the definitive study to answer that question.

I hope you get an answer to your question.  Sorry you're in pain :(

Ah ha, maybe I misunderstood your original post.  Were you saying only that the settings for the MRI you had (for lumps) was not the optimal protocol? I thought they meant an MRI, in general, was not the optimal protocol, no matter what the settings. Good news.

Vinnie Myers was a combat medic in Korea, but he is not a doctor.

He is, however, a true artist, and a member here at BCO (vinniemyers)

Here are two of his Blog posts:

Greenmonkey, thx for sharing,2 days out? wow,Ms Dr Sandra did a great job. Hope mine turn out as good. My PS says she can fix the dent I have in the right where the cancer was. Dont really like the idea of having foreign objects in my chest and the knife like chest pain? Really! OMG,I have that off and on now,I thought I had heart trouble but the docs dont seem to think so. Sometimes my jaw and arm hurt and I get dizzy and have chest pains. scared of heart attack. Told my dr,she didnt seem at all concerned.

I thought ice was ok to use. My handout from PS says to use ice after surg. Is it not ok?

Graciousgal, yes my PS also no longer uses the tear drop shape, she said she had cases where those tears flipped around inside and she had to replace them with round so no more of those used. I dont care cause I am happy to get round.

MondaysChild - The MRI is great modality for checking implant integrity and also for evaluating soft tissue (lumps, lymph nodes, etc).  However, one MRI scan will not do both simultaneously - at least that's what I'm told by my breast surgeon and the radiologists at the imaging center.

I've been out of town and am catching up.

Tatina123 - Please let us know how you feel after your Oct trip.  That is what I'm planning as well and am looking for those who opted for tattoo only and are thrilled.

So, for thrilled, spent two days at the beach this week.  I was very self concious in a bathing suit.  We all know the TE's are stiff and horrilbe.  I guess I felt like everyone was staring which is an oddly vain concept anyway.  I have vacation planned....finally....at the end of the Sept, about four weeks out from the exchange.  I'm hoping to be a bit more comfortable with the permanent ones.

I know what you mean CMartin about being self-conscious with these expanders. No one else  does probably notice them like we think they do but we think they do because we know they are such hard, miss shaped rocks. But like someone else on here said about their expanders, if someone else does notice them, they probably just think we had a bad boob job. lol  I'm sure though that if they are staring in September after your exchange that it will be because they are envious of your great new figure.

I don't think anyone realizes they are hard as rocks unless they bump into them! I went to the beach for a week and was actually excited to show off my turtle shells in a bikini. Ive been an A cup my entire life and got a thrill to see cleavage, even if they are like wearing armor.

I finally have an exchange date! I had my last fill of 50 ccs today, which puts me at 500 ccs on one side and 450 on the other. My date is September 27 and I can't wait to actually sleep without the rocks keeping me up at night.

How is everyone doing with the new implants? My PS says I will have surgery on Thursday and can be back at work on Monday...that seems awfully fast for recovery...is it really that easy?

I can never remember if it's "butt nekkid" or "buck nekkid", but either way, my TEs are Spongebob Square Foobs. Or weird loaves of French bread.

Anyway....I swim 3 times a week. All you notice in my bathing suits are perky boobs!!!!

Not one woman in my water aerobics class could tell I had fake boobs. Or a bad boob job.

And it is heavenly to be able to jump up and down and not have the Original Girls' size 38DDD splash a tsunami of water on my face each time. Actually, the TEs don't move at all, but no one else can tell that. Wink

Rckinrbn, that is EXACTLY even what my PS told me, too:  Surgery on Thursday, back at my desk on Monday. That did not happen. On Monday I could hardly get out of bed because of servere pain on my right side.  The entire following week was lost for me.  At about 10-12 days I started to be able to function again.

My Exchange is scheduled for Aug 21st and my PS said if I can take two weeks off of work that is what he would prefer.  If not one week would do.  I also have a desk job and he knows that.

I am heading to the beach with my childhood girlfriends tomorrow for the weekend.  I was a flat 32AA before, they will all be shocked how I look in my bikini now. The shape of my TE's are not all that bad.  They lood good in my bathing suit.  You can only tell the mishape if I am nude and only DH gets to see me that way.  I have a friend that is moving to CA and we got together for our goodbyes the other day.  She gave me a big hard hug and then said OMG your boobs are hard as a rock.  We both just cracked up laughing.  I told her I have been avoiding hugging people to close for that very reason.

O.K. It's official - we confirmed with Kaiser that I will have my Exchange Surgery on Wednesday, August 22nd!!!

They'll call me the night before to let me know the exact time I need to arrive.

The nurse said that sometimes more urgent surgeries would take precedence. I said that after all these months of waiting, my new Ta Ta's WERE urgent!!!! Cool

    I am soooo excited!!!!!

Oh gee...I might need to rethink my time off. I am a teacher and used the summer for the major surgery and fills. Now that school is going to be in session I hate to take off, but it sounds like I will need at least a week. I guess taking a full week will be worth it to not mess anything up.

It sure is funny to see some of the looks and relooks I am getting after being off for the summer....I went from an A to at least a full C. Those that don't know probably think I just had a boob job over the summer, lol! Sherry, I've been avoiding hugging people too tightly also, usually holding them at least an arms length away. I'm afraid I'll hurt em with the rocks!

Erika~ I'm guessing it's because no one has the answer(?) PS's can be very different.  My PS told me not to swim while I had drains.  He did not mention anything about chlorinated water.  Did you try calling your PS's office?  I'm not sure we can give you a definite answer.   Undecided

I think to be sure about swimming you should ask your PS to be sure. Mine was super conservative and would not let me swim or get in a pool at all until about 6 weeks after surgery. But as soon as he said it was ok I was right in! Had no problems. I used a Frog Tog towel to stay cool when watching my 8 year old in the pool until i got the approval to get in. And once or twice I just waded in up to my waist.

Here's a silly question - my PS told me to use moisturizer on my mastectomy/exchange scars.  He said to get whatever is one sale, meaning I don't need to get anything fancy-schmanzy.  What exactly IS a moisturizer?  I have many containers of creams and lotions at home that say they are "moisturizing."  Is that what I need?

PS - Regarding the question about swimming - I was given the go-ahead to get into the pool last week - 2 weeks post exchange!
