Special K I never saw the funny side of u--hahaha That is not an insult but u made me laugh I've seen a super intelligent woman that's ver intimidateing to me cuz I know nothing, and I readily admit it--that's why I don't come on here to often I try to gsther info then forget it or write it down and can't find it.

Eileen endorphins are kind of like special effects our own body produces when in a happy type of way and bring enrgy to u--not intelligence  for me--but it's supposed to almost feel like a happy feeling--Like when u fall in love the endorphins are springing out--haven't had that in a long time either. Something like that--I'm not good at explaining I know SpecislK can explain much much better than I. LOL

I told my onc that I hate to exercise but I love the way I feel when I'm done. I really don't like to sweat but I sweat a lot when I exercise. When I leave the gym my DH is nice and dry. I on the other hand have sweat patches on my clothes and still dripping from my face. (I shower at home).

    I love hot/spicy food too.

camillegal - you are funny!  You should not be intimidated by me in any way - you know way more than you give yourself credit for!  And, you show how smart you are by coming to this forum, right?

eileen - endorphins are like an internal opiate that is produced by the body.  Exercise, relaxation and meditation, spicy food (I'm talking to you lago!) stress, alcohol, acupuncture and massage all trigger endorphins.

lago - I don't even have to exercise and I sweat, and I don't "glisten" like a lady, I sweat!  When I walk (6 miles at a fast pace) my face stays red for at least an hour after I am done - I look ridiculous and there is not an endorphin in sight!  I feel crappy but glad I exercised, lol!

K B I think there doing studies like crazy now cuz of the heart part, some are saying less time is enough, but I know  being sure exactly, is what driving Drs. nuts so they are being very careful so they are watching very carefully which is good for the patient, but they always did. And now they are watching for women who had it for a full yr with after effects from it coming later ??? But it still is super useful in + as I understand--I know my Drs. sent me to a card. when I was done and I was like now what--well they wanted to make sure about SE of Herceptin--tht was my first clue LOL From before and after and there was a difference but nothing major and treatable with --guess--more meds hahaha which those are permanant too. Wait It is not sure this came from H, my card just kind of nodded it could be but not sure. ???? So they must be doing more studies.

    YIPPEE!

There's a molecule that's even BETTER than endorphins @ making us feel good and you don't need to kill yourself or to do much of anything other than hug or touch someone to release it.....

Won't help us lose weight and build muscle but if we get enough hugs and kisses we just might not care!

    Sasha,

I used pure Aloe after each tx and Aquphor at night... I only got a little pink on my collar bone.. No burns nothing but everyone is different.. Today I still use the aloe on the radiated side and you would never know I had radiation.. Good luck and big Yah no more chemo

So here is one for the "who knew" files. I have started PT for the cording and scar tissue from the ALND surgery. After 3 treatments, my face is a mess! Not zits, but red raised lumps. Yesterday I asked the PT if it could be from the toxins released when she releases the tightness in the muscles. She said absolutely and that I needed to drink lots of water post PT sessions to flush them out. If it's not one thing it is another Yell At least the PT is starting to help with the cording issues.

  • Hi ladies! I have found myself in the +++ group {well, my HER2 is actually equivocal, so I am not sure if that is really positive or not, but we are treating as if it is}.

I am wondering {and I am sure this has been asked before, but this is a BIG thread} how many of you had success with neoadjuvant chemo? Also, if you had success with neo AND were node positive I would REALLY love to hear from you. We know that I have at least one node positive, but because I am doing neo, we don't really know for sure what is going on in the rest, which makes me nervous. :~/

I am happy to have found such a warm group of ladies, although, not really happy that I HAD to find the group!

Well my 3 mo check up went great the doctor said she also thinks the rash is from my bra.

Anyway I have lost another 9 pounds!!! (yay)  They said I'm doing great.

I asked if I will be doing the tamox for 10 years and not the 5 years and she said we will talk about that in 5 years. So not going to think about it for know. I had diabetes test done today and my thyroid from my blood test done today as well so we will see.  Anyway if nothing is wrong I won't see her again until Sept another 3 mo. It sure was nice to see all the nurses though had to catch up really quick they are real busy..

ang - glad you had a good appointment and congrats on the weight loss!

shasha - yay on the last chemo!

twinmama - welcome - there are a few neoadjuvent ladies on this thread - I am sure they will chime in.  You can look for the ones who are actively posting over the last 10 pages or so - and look for the chemo start date and the surgery date, that info will tell you if they did neo-chemo or not.

Ang such a good feeling with good news, I'm happy for u.

twinmama I had neo--but all I can say is they wsnted to shrink my tumores--I don't know if it affected my nodes, cuz there were plety taken and alot involved even after 4 mos. I ust know it worked to shrink the tumors, then operate, then back on chemo--I think personally--again not for real) it's not only done for our benefit to see how we tolerate chemo and if it's working but I would think it makes it easier with surgery to make sure they have it out better..Just my opinion, but others will come on and really explin the whole process cuz I just surnize things.

Back to endorphins I realized that so long ago, that's why when I care about someone everyone calls me the hugger and I enjoy that it just makes me feel good--It got so my nurses, Drs, rads people were hugging me all the time they saw I was open for it and we'd walk down a hall and their arm was aroubd me, and of course with my family it's like a wonder drug when we "cuddle"--This I've know without readin anything for years and years--but I don't know if everyone gets the same feeling from it.? I don't think it's for everyone. Again just my opinion--I have loads of them but nothing proven. LOL

ang, so glad you had a good appt!

twinmama, I had at least 2 positive nodes that showed up on the the PET and MRI and had neo (TC x6). When I had my ALND surgery all nodes were clear! So for now I am NED.

Thank you all for your good wishes just saw the cardiologist and he said I'm in good health. He's not concerned at all about the echo.

They will continue to monitor me because of the Herceptin but I'm in good health.

Does anyone have info on vitamins for hair growth. I'm looking into biotin. Anything else? Also how long after the last chemo. One month??

    Thx everyone

    Sasha Good news.

Hair huh---it's kind of different for everyone but all of a sudden u start seeing it again could be a month or around that time then it usually looks silly for a while--but I have heard Biotin works well on alot of people, be patient and be surprised too cuz it usually doesn't look like u'r old hair maybe for a while--I always called it my baby hair--my hair was younger than anyone else's so it's kind of iffy--but son't worry before u know it, it's very workable--even new Hairstyles.

    Twinmama,

I had Neo as well and as you can see from my signature line I had many nodes involved and I had a Complete response to tx...so far so good..

    specialk Posts: 9,299

shasha - my hairdresser said to begin Biotin three weeks after the last chemo.  She said taking it any sooner the positive effects would be cancelled out by the chemo drugs still in the system and would be a waste of time.  My hair grew back in a little slowly, but it is all good now.

    Twinmama,

I was a neo adjuvant chemo gal. No positive nodes but I also had a complete pathological response to chemo. There are several different chemo regimens or us Her 2 pos ladies and there have been pCR's in this thread from most of them!

    We shall see.

    Welcome.

    Camille,

You're proof that oxytocin works.all those hugs and kisses. That and the fact you've got such a darling personality. Hard to resist.

You are fun , cute and very brave and none of your theories are even remotely silly. Not even a little.
If you think about it...we are all just one woman's proof of our theories. And we share them in the hope that others may learn from them.

Ashla u'r so so nice. I know I'm  quirky, bt u made me feel like not so much . LOL

Eileen don't worry about the endorphins, sometimes u don't even know about them--they are just a calming good feeling inside u really have, and some people feel like a surge of energy (I think) I never have xcept on steroids--I kind of liked those cuz I'm to laid back so I never feel like let;s go--even when I was young. hahaha So it's nothing big on medical stuff (very technical word of mine)

I think endorphins may be like libido - some people have a lot, others, not so much, lol!  I think we all have endorphins but it may be a question of how in tune we are to what triggers them, or also maybe what triggers them is different for each of us, to some extent.  Endorphins are your body's own "feel good" mechanism, and also your body's way of overcoming physical stress.

I will have my final neoadjuvant treatment tomorrow.  Began chemo in Jan.  I will have another MRI to see the progress that has been made.  I have lymph node recurrent cancer, nothing in the breast, and my tumor was really large.  Many of my nodes are involved extending to the collarbone.  I will have surgery in either July or early August.  I am on Herceptin and will continue through next spring every three weeks.  After my surgery I am being scheduled for radiation.  I underwent radiation 11 years years ago following my lumpectomy.  Thought cancer would never find me again.   According to my research, the rate for recurrence for DCIS, stage 0 is 1.5%.  Someone has to be the unlucky one.

Well the blood test already back got a call apparently I have hypothyroidism my thyroid was 12.9 very high she said it was not even working the average is 0.5 to  4.7

It is all making some since now I always felt tired weak, and the weight thing for years. And this test I asked for other wise I still would not have known. So they are putting me on a pill for 6 weeks then check blood again. will know more after that. the diabetes test came back normal.  they say I should feel much better in a week or two of taking this pill.

    Has anyone had this?
