    Great ski yesterday....sticky snow, but lots of it and beautiful views. Today....tired from the effort of climbing up, and pushing heavy snow on the way down. But....the sun is shining, so it'll likely be a long slow walk today.

    OK goils - I don't think I'll be doing much walking or running any time soon with this heel pain I'm having.  I know plenty of things to do for strength both at home and the gym but I'm concerned about losing cardio conditioning.  I don't care for swimming, going up and down stairs hurts.  I'm not a big cycling/spinning fan, but would a recumbent bicycle be good?  How about elliptical?  (again, not one of my faves, but if it won't aggravate the plantar fasciitis I'm willing to give it a whirl).  Hooping should be OK, right?

    sweet.....did you ever get in to see a doc? I would think before trying "alternative" fitness things...getting properly dx'd would be the best starting point. If you are injured/in pain....you're already "altering" how you weight bear, and things like biking, elliptical still require weight bearing to some degree. Wouldn't want you to further strain something or strain "new" things, because of a different activity than you normally do. I would think doing something like aquajogging, with your foot properly taped, might work for you, but......it may well be, that the best thing in the big picture, is to just  "rest" that foot completely for a few weeks....as disappointing as that may sound to you. Losing a bit of cardio fitness, is better than creating a long term tendon/ligament/muscle issue, imo.

    Good heavens, Nihahi, how much snow have you had?  That looks like fresh snowfall!

    S&S--many people swear by the workout they get on an elliptical or the recumbent bike; hope your pain resolves!

    Rode the Longleaf Trace rail-trail in Hattiesburg, Mississippi today after the heavy rain moved through.

    I'm calling my PCP's nurse on Monday to see if she can get me in before May 1, which is when the scheduling folks told me was the first possible appointment.  Or maybe they can get me in sooner to one of the orthopedic doctor.  Our doctor's office was recently absorbed into a much larger medical organization, which in the long term will be a great thing.  Short term, though, they're really struggling with conversion to new systems, methods and workflow.  I did get orthotic inserts for my Brooks shoes from a shoe specialty place and while it helps to wear those around the house, it's still painful enough that I'm limping on quite visibly on both beet, and definitely over-compensating by bearing my weight on the outside edge (supination, I think?) of my left foot.  The bottoms of both my heels now has a constant ache, even when I'm sitting down with my feet up......sigh......this too shall pass, I know.  Just gotta be seen by a doctor or doctors and do what needs to be done to get through it or fix it.

    hi ladies, sunny and 45 this afternoon.  So nice I did my 2.5 mile route then kept going and did it again for a 5 mile walk today.  Taking tomorrow off mom duty and doing yard work.  The forecast is for a 62 degree day woo hoo!

    nihahi, gorgeous pix!  I love the snow but so happy that spring is coming.  Soon.  The red-winged blackbirds are back, a sure sign.

    Sweet, sorry about foot pain, when your feet hurt, everything hurts I know.  You shouldn't have to wait a month to see your PCP.  Calling the nurse is a good idea.  We have electronic med files here and whenever I've sent a message to my doc, I get a prompt reply from his nurse.  I know people who've simply shown up at the doc's office and weren't turned away.  Good luck!  ♥

    Beautiful pics nihali but, like badger, I'm glad spring is finally starting to rear its head and the temps are rising.  Pouring rain here most of today and more expected tomorrow.  Did 15 mins stat bike, 30 mins treadmill and 30 mins upper/lower body weights at gym today.  Planning on running in the pool tomorrow as haven't done that in awhile.  Need to keep up with my exercise as endorphins have been very low lately so my mood has been in the dumps.

    Day 2 of my Megamadness done, whew what a day, this morning did Body Pump - there were 1000 people in the room, I got down there super early so I got a good spot then did Body Pump took a break then this afternoon did Body Combat and Body Jam and Les Mills have teamed up with Reebok and I was given a pair of Reebok dance sneakers, woohooo - here I am in Body Combat

    Patoo I'm feeling low lately too, and can't really blame winter here.  Cheryl that class is crazy big.  Dulcigirl thanks for the clarification on the gel stuff.

    Forty minutes hooping and now icing my shoulder. Still plan to do weights later.

    Bluetail - great photo of you and I'm inspired!  You too Cheryl, so enthusiastically into LM  and no mega anything for us - you lucky puppy in LV no less.  I like that you got new shoes and I remember when NatsFan/Mary got her Nike Tiffany's mint colored ones last year.  S&S you can try mat work,  as many pilates moves don't require heel use. A big ball for some balance work can help get your core strengthened. Nihali - snow photos are nice.  I too am over winter, digging the sunny warmth, baby lambs in the lush spring green fields with daffodils popping up everywhere and bluebells ready to burst forth.  Today is Mothering Sunday here in the UK, so I have received flowers, shopping voucher and a card from my son stating that I am perfect - HA!  Winking

    Ran 5.69 this morning burning 299 calories

    Gonna be so nice today, I can tell by the color of the sky and the slant of the rising sun.  They're saying it hasn't been in the 60's here since last Halloween, 31 Oct.  Lots of winter debris to pick up so Yardwork & Sculpt, and of course a walk.  ♥

    Ruth - here I was just complaining because we're having a bit of sleet now - after seeing your map I'll take my sleet and be happy.  But speaking of your neck of the woods, there was a great article in the Travel section of the Washington Post today about a woman who was researching her great grandmother who was a homesteader in ND.  And the star of the article turned out to be  . . .     Lilac - Happy Mothering Day to you!  Thanks for asking about dh - he's got PT twice a week for the indefinite future, but he is making progress, and thanks to his care, pain levels have decreased from a constant 5-6 level to a 1-2, so that's an improvement.  How's your dh doing? And when's your big race coming up?  Cheryl - wow - that class must be really energizing.  I bet it's similar to the adrenaline I get at the start of a race - something about being with hundreds or thousands of people all intent on the same workout.  Bluetail - great picture - you look wonderful! 

    DH's parents' house was pretty much at the epicenter of the California quake this weekend.  We talked to them yesterday - they're OK, but their house is a mess.  Stuff is all over the floor, and some of my MIL's antique porcelain face dolls broke when they fell.  She also collected thimbles for years and has hundreds of them in special thimble cases hung all over the house.  Well, now there are hundreds of thimbles all over the floor.  Some kitchen cupboards came open and stuff from there came tumbling out and broke.  DH's sibs spent most of yesterday over there cleaning up.  After hearing about that, I think I'll take a bad winter anytime over earthquakes.

    Did the Nats Walk yesterday - it's a shorter walk this year because we gave up our parking pass and now take Metro.  So instead of 2 miles a game, we're only getting a mile or so.  We had tix for the exhibition game against the Tigers, but they called it because of rain.  But I had my first hot dog and beer of the season at the ballpark before they called the game, so it wasn't a total waste!  Opening Day is Friday - I have leave approved for a day off and can't wait.   

    My exercise today has been going through old storage boxes and deciding what we're going to donate and what we're going to throw out. It's dusty work, but it's a good feeling getting rid of stuff.

    Glad to hear your DH's parents are OK, Mary. That must have been scary for them and a lot of work cleaning up.

    Cheryl, that is the Las Vegas Version of Les Mills. Sure doesn't look like that here. Way cool! Great picture of you.

    We walked up to the summit of a mountain from the ski lift. It was really tough as I kept sinking into the deep snow. Then we skied down. Here are DD and DH enjoying the scenery from the top.

    Thanks for that article link, Mary. Very awesome....all places I know and love. The isolation of the lonely prairie sent a number of women over the edge. It was a hard life.

    No snow yet. Swept out the garage, picked up branches in the yard, & took a pre-storm walk with a friend.

    Neat pictures Heidi & Cheryl. Although all that white in yours, Heidi, makes me nervous!

    Love all the beautiful snow pictures but am really ready for Spring. Poured rain here yesterday before turning to sleet/rain/snow mix today. My exercise this weekend was taking down curtains for cleaning and taking the fur babies for vaccinations.

    Poured down rain all day so got to the gym and aquajogged for an hour.

    Sorry for all of you still dealing with rain/sleet/etc.  Think we may be past that in my neck of the woods - hope, hope, hope!

    I admit, I let my exercise routine go during treatment, especially during rads over the summer.  Wearing a bra wasn't comfortable, and so running was out, and then I just didn't seem to have any energy.

    After learning some info about lymphedema self-care, I have begun getting back into my routine.  Wow, what a difference it has made!  I feel better, I have more energy, I'd forgotten about all the little benefits that go along with that morning endorphin kick.  There's no running yet - the footing here in the woods of north central MA is icy/messy spring melt - but I've been getting out for 2-6 miles in the morning for a week now, and also resuming my upper body weights with a very light routine every other night.  I'm posting partly in the hope that talking about it will be additional incentive to stick with it!

    Oh Ruth that's a bummer of a forecast.  Stock up on supplies and batten down the hatches.  We had an absolutely gorgeous day.  Got a big pile of sticks for the city chipper truck but will leave the "mulch" of dead leaves for a little while longer.

    Walked 5 miles this afternoon with the sun on my face and the wind in my hair.  Spectacular!  Have a good week ahead my sculpted sisters! ♥
