    Debbie

Call, or better yet speak in person to the Dr. in charge of your care, I'm assuming the Pulmonologist.

    Tell him what happened.

It doesn't matter whether it was right or wrong, you are nuts, (you're not) or he is (who knows?) the point is that it made you uncomfortable.

It needs to be addressed in order for you to continue your care.

    Please don't give up going

Debbie, I agree with Minus that you should call him back and let him know about your discomfort with the interaction in your last session, and see how he handles it to decide whether a complaint is in order. But most importantly YOU need to find a way to continue your treatments, whether it can be there or somewhere else. It was certainly an odd and uncomfortable situation, that I'm sorry you had to experience. Another idea is whether there is any kind of ombudsman (or ombudswoman!) at the hospital (like a patient rep or a social worker...not connected to the PT dept) who could listen to your story and help you sort out the best path for you to pursue. Please let us know how this works out...and good luck! I'm curious to check on google about how else blood gas is done besides on the inside of the wrist. I have had that done in the past....and woweeee (!!) the pain!

I can see both ways Debbie but agree that it would be a shame that this interferes with you pulmo class.  Guess it comes down to which you could pull off. Not sure I would be gutsy enough to call him out but I do know I'm much better at that stuff on the phone.

Lacey - It can be done in the groin but wrist is the much more common area. Respiratory therapists used to draw it in my hospital, unless pt had a central line of some sort. Held plenty of pts for them to draw. I bet I've only seen groin used maybe 2 times (but then I wasn't fond of hospital nursingWinking).

SpecialK - gee sorry for all the tape miseries. Just so long as your healing well. And agree about the beneficial side effects of itch medicine.

Debbie. Definitely either call the doctor or the hospital to make a complaint. If you feel you can handle it talk to him. But if it bothered you you need to do something. If you can't bring yourself to do anything go to the class and never be alone with him again. But don't hurt yourself cause he's a jerk. If you see him pull someone else out you will know what's going on and you can join them to prevent it. And Deb we know you are a lovely person but he does need to keep his hands to himself. When i was a teenager i had a boss who did stuff like that. I was like whats he doing- in shock. Much love.

Thanks everyone for your advice, It really helped me to decide on what I should do next. I think maybe I will call him, I am a little more gutsy on the phone too )ha- and see what his reaction is, but knowing no matter what he says he had no right to touch me there and because of him I do not feel comfortable going back there. I did google it and like some of you said that although it is not uncommon to take it from the groin it is most always done on the wrist. I will let you know how my conversation goes tomorrow. I don't think there are any more classes being offered other than the ones I go to. I did do a half mile on the treadmill tonight so I will keep it up and do what I have to do to get better.

Bedo- Yes, I can be nuts lol!

Monica- Sorry you had a not so pleasant experience before.

Debbie.   Even if Will meant no harm, I think he messed up multiple ways and should be "counseled" (groweled at) by his supervisors.   *IF* what he did was necessary, he should have asked permission first and explained why it was necessary to do that, given you an opportunity to have someone else (female, if that was your preference) do that, and likely have someone else there with the two of you.

Cook Eggs in Bell Peppers or Onion Rings for a Simple, Clever Breakfast Treat   I've been thinking about my garden. I want these. It's time to plant beets, spinach, and kale!

These pictures come from lifehacker.com eggs in onion rings and sliced peppers

Well, now that it's almost three, I WILL walk the dog and practice for 1/2 hour

Bedo! Those look great. Why am I suddenly so hungry for eggs? LOL

Debbie I am glad you decided what to do. That always makes a person feel better. As for my little experience it was a long time ago. About 45 years or so! LOL.  I was 14 at my first job.

Tonight is rib eye strips marinated in olive oil, rosemary and garlic, brown rice casserole with broccoli and cheese and a small salad.

When I was in college, I was propositioned by one of the doctors in Health Services (gynecologist).  Freaked me out big time. I have mostly women docs now.  Not that I haven't had or don't have a couple of male docs that I like, but given the choice, I like lady docs for lots of reasons.

In other news, I'm finding Windows 8.1 to be an alien being. I hate it.  Have I said that already? I've been saying it a lot (muffled scream :-O    Not only that, but I've never used a laptop and now I have to get used to that. Blech!

Nance, I too am annoyed with Windows 8.1.  I suppose I'll get used to it, but in the mean time......

Bedo, those eggs look neat.  If I had seen that earlier, I would have tried it tonight. Dinner was bacon and eggs with some salsa on the eggs.

I just read that you can continue to run XP through Windows 8.  I'm not clever enough to figure it out, but thought it interesting for those of you who hate 8.  Thanks heavens I went (kicking & screaming) to Windows 7 a couple of years ago so I don't have to deal with 8.  Can you tell I don't like change?

Going to a nurse friend's retirement party this afternoon at one of the major Med Center hospitals.  She's been there for 43 years.  I'm hoping there will be lots of yummy nibbles to I don't have to deal w/dinner later.

Minus, this is a new computer with 8.1 pre-installed. I went from xp on the old pc straight to this. I wish I had Windows 7 instead. I loved xp. I don't think you can run xp but supposedly you can configure 8 to look like Windows 7 (which looks and acts like xp I understand.)  I haven't figured that one out yet.

Hear you Minus Two. One of the 1st ?? I asked DH was do we have XP. Used to on old one but now have Windows 7 on both. Hope they continue support for it for a longgg time. I'm with you Nancy I am not a laptop user. I have used DH's when it storms mostly to track storms badly like last May but I really don't like it. It has a wireless mouse so don't have to use touchpad which I really, really don't like.

I am still working slowly at cleaning out pantry. Another pkg of beans "white rice beans". Has recipe for stuffed tomatoes which magically are going to become stuffed peppers since DH wouldn't eat a stuffed tomato. I would and would prefer it over the peppers. Hmm maybe make a combo. Colored peppers on sale this week. But it will only take about 1/3 of pkg. But company has a nice website and an OK newsletter. One has recipe for farro which I have here somewhere. Looks like I may have bought at Central Mkt. but I kinda thought it came from a health food store.

    http://www.zursunbeans.com/

I think tonight is the stuffed shells finally; bought the parsley the other day. Having car windshield replaced tomorrow pm so will probably make quick/easy Wolf Chili enchiladas. I have a partial 4 cup pkg of Mex. cheese and another full one unopened. I think that should be enough for enchiladas. A bit may find their way into the shells. My lunch contribution to camping was a taco bar but I overdid the cheese. I used to do cold cut sandwiches which was outrageously expensive. Tried this last fall and all thought it good. I stock up on ground beef on sale. Precook taco meat and freeze then heat in covered pan in oven.

Debbie - I hope your talk with your resp. guy goes well and he gets his inappropriateness. One thing to describe ABGs in the groin, another to demo it. Geesh. I always found if I wrote a script or talking points for the phone I did better. Organized my thoughts at least to break into a difficult conversation.

Minus Two - hope you have good noshes at party. I had bowl of cereal early yest. then went to church meeting with finger foods.

OK Nance, so when I saw this in a pinterest message, I thought of you and that it might give you a pleasant break from your tech pain.

    Looks so delish!

Meanwhile, I was going to keep this to myself, but it turns out that the intense allergy testing I have been undergoing to try to control the insane itching I have been enduring, has resulted (so far....more next week) in learning that I not only have so many indoor environmental allergies that, I will be spending a fortune wrapping everything in our bedroom in expensive mite protecting covers, getting hepa filters, etc, but also, I may as well don some bunny ears and a mask and spend all my time munching on fresh greens in the garden! I am stunned at the things one has to eliminate to avoid molds.....including any vinegar products, mushrooms (duhhhh), cheese, soy products, alcohol, "leftovers!" ......and on and on.  I am horrified and saddened at the monent...and cannot imagine how I can keep my "healthy diet" going by eliminating yet more foods. On Monday I get to learn what specific food items I am allergic to. Can't wait!

Lacey HUGS!!  Here's to hoping that you learn some of that can be reintroduced at some point.

LMG a taco bar is a good fun thing to do. For family get of ethers we've done it. I use the leftover meat in chili if I have a lot. And sometimes I make a big pot of chili. But i make it to the point before I add tomato juice and water. Then I bag it up. Wherever I go, I only add the liquid ingredients when we get there. Helps to keep it from sloshing all over. It's thick like a dryer  sloppy Joe til I add the V8 juice to thin it out. I use V8 to add flavor.

    luvmygoats Posts: 2,484

That's what I did. Made it pretty dry to freeze/thaw easily then dumped salsa into it to thin it down in the oven. Actually DH was the cook for most of this. I was more the planner/shopper. We (DH and I) never know how many are coming since all the others are not related to us but the actual numbers are way down. Only had 8 in the cabin, 2 stayed at the lodge and 1 drove in for Saturday so only 9 total. Way overcooked for this. At one time we had 16 or so but that was when all the kids were younger. Ha the youngest is at least 21 prob. about to turn 22 and grad. college. She's the only one that still comes out.

Lacey - I saw an allergy link this week about vegies/spices tied to pollen allergies. It had your celery on it which made me think of you. This is not the one I saw but the same general drift. But you are getting the pro version at your allergist. Can they make you an allergy shot to cover some/most of the other unusual things? Does your allergist provide a referral or a dietician to customize your diet?

Oh Lacey, thanks for the link! I just love white peaches, what a perfect way to use them. Well, actually the perfect way is to just take a big bite and let the juice run down your arm. I'm sorry about the mold allergy, that's what I have too only I don't make any concessions to it, which is probably why my eyes tear and itch constantly in spite of a variety of drugs.

Lacey:  I to am sorry to hear about the possible deprivations with coming allergy regime.  Vinegar?  Wow.  I'm with Moon.  Hope you can re-introduce things gradually to determine what you can tolerate.  I've ended up with the insane, unable to live, lie on the floor & cry itching only when I eat Macadamia nuts.

Thanks all, for the "allergy support"....have always dealt with dust, some molds, animal dander and pollens, but so many more?! Might need to turn into a bubble girl this spring....certainly will be an indoor girl. :(  My dx and treatment is coming from a center that is involved in the newest forms of dx and rx for allergies, and most likely I'll be self-injecting a serum they make for me. I'll check out that site, Luv.

Some good news is that until next tests, I can resume my meds which includes zyrtec to keep some symptoms at bay.  A good side effect of going meds free for the  week is that I have done fine  w/o my drug of choice, Celebrex, which I've been on for years for joint pain. Yay exercise benefits! I'm amazed and happy about that discovery.

Have delayed my oncologist reconnection for a bit.....hate that decision...AIs would definitely send me back to Celebrex. :(

Luv, I recently read that the celery allergy reaction is actually the body misidentifying it as ragweed because of some seem-alike element(ragweed being one of my many bad allergies)....a very weird allergy fact I never knew. An imposter allergen!

Tonight DH made omelets, his specialty, ( which was accompanied by fruit cup I'd made for a coffee clatch....anyone remember that word...I had this morning) since I conked out on the couch before the dinner hour. I think the sore throat I've had all week is generalizing to a virus...and I have an event to attend tomorrow, so crashed to fight whatever I have. Am back up for a bit then back down shortly.....

Nance, loved the imagery of the dripping white peach! :)

Minus, stay away from those nuts! Only cashews make me bubble up....because they are related to mangoes, which do the same. I would definitely avoid anything that caused such severe itching. TORTURE! :#

Nothing is worse than an itch you can't scratch. Not just where it might be embarrassing but where it's so deep in the tissues that you can't scratch hard enough to reach it and if you try you rip right through the skin! Not fun. Sorry you are suffering. Much love to all.

I was productive today. I managed to plant potatoes, onions, lettuce and peas, put out hummingbird and oriole feeders (I was rewarded by seeing the first hummer of the year!),  and even managed to transfer some software from the old pc to the new one. I'm worried about my cookbook program though. I have ten years of collected recipes in it and so far, can't get it to run properly on the new computer. The designer is working with me and he's convinced it can work. I hope so.

It was 80 degrees here today. Dinner is grilled pork steaks, potato salad and sauteed asparagus with garlic and lemon.

Wow.  You did get a lot done.

All I got done was installing a radio in DD'S car and confirming that my mom didn't get a 1099 form from a bank because the interest was too low to report.  The bank stuff took longer than the radio install.

The rest of the day was with DD.  I don't as much time as I'd like with her, so when I get a chance, I make sure to take advantage of it.

Today we had sunshine. Rain. Hail. And clouds. It was 36 degrees here. What happened to the 60 degrees we had yestrrday? Sigh....

Supper was a container of soup from my favorite tea dhot. Vegetarian sweet potato carribean. Yum. I also used up the last of the hamburger patties from the freezer.

Ditto about missing Susan...and not just because she ramps up the culinary expertise of this thread by a lot! :) Hope she is doing well....

Went to a friend's son's bar Mitzvah today/night. They had a great Mediterranean selection of appetizers...and of course, pizza for the ton of boys ( and handful of girls) in attendance. Dinner was salad of baby greens and a perfectly cooked chicken breast with new potatoes and asparagus. I couldn't identify the sauce that was over the chicken, but it was tasty. Clearly no mango in the sauce, even tho it was a bit sweet, since I didn't  break out in hives. ;) Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with fresh berries and cream.

DD asked that I cook the Jasmine Rice Chicken Salad tonight.  So, I did that while Sharon is reviewing orbital mechanics for the AP Physics class that she teaches.

As always, the dish was well received.

Moon, I wish I could ship you some of the weather from here.  Earlier this week it was nearly 100F degrees and I think today it was in the upper 90F range.
