Sounds like the weather I cycled through a week ago made it to ND, Ruth! It was lovely to have things cooler again, this past weekend.

I think what I did was SLEEP as still feeling it from the trip to Portland. Saturday, my friend Amanda came out from Seattle, and we hit the farmers market, had coffee on my deck enjoying the wicker chairs and table. I did it up right, using the good china and silver. We needed it as she had been doing a dance workshop all week, so we were both dragging. We did an easy ride on the gravel trail that runs alongside the Snoqualmie River. Just gorgeous and a new world for her. We ended up in Carnation and had quiche at the Farm-to-Table place.

I got a bit more exercise cleaning up the place for her visit.

Yesterday, I did an early evening ride along the Sammamish River Trail. We still have the wonderful long days, but not quite as long as a month ago. I ended up in Redmond and explored the new "connector" trails that run through Downtown and what they call "Old Town". They are fixing the worst part of the trail - YAY. I am also hoping they do something about the 270 degree blind turn which scares me to death as people are always whipping through there along with families all over the trail.

All this was on my other bicycle as too sore to ride my road bike. I am planning a tour through lavender fields two weeks from now. I will be ready for 70 miles again. But fun to do something a bit different and low key. AND.....I see good results from the trip to Portland. Much firmer everywhere than prior to. So worth it for that reason alone.

Back to work, and I hope a run later today. I need to do that as well. - Claire

Cheryl, a fitbit tip for you, I wear mine just about 24/7 - when I change into my pj's, I just clip it to the neck of my top, and since I never sleep on my stomach, I don't even notice it is there.  Then when I get up in the morning, it's recording all my steps and flights as I feed the pets, make breakfast, etc.  When I change for work, I just transfer it.  I am finding in the summer that water days (beach, boating, pool, etc.) are messing with my step count, as the last thing I want to do is go swimming with it.  And then when I'm home again, I forget to clip it back on.  Like yesterday, I logged 153 steps LOL.

Darn gym is still closed, and I've been doing little else but trying to get my 10k steps in.  The latest is they will open on Wednesday, which coincides with a ton of company coming for a 4 day visit.  So back to my gym routine next week.

LB - what a wonderful day with your friend!  Cheryl - that was incredibly virtuous of you to exercise before lunch!!  I would not have been that good.

Busy weekend - garden chores on Saturday - as Teacher said, ended up the day exhausted and dirty.  And my bicep and shoulder are still sore from using the string trimmer for an hour or so.  ScaredSunday went for a 5K run, then did 4 miles of biking to and from Nats Park (Nats win!!), then came home and hit the pool.  Since I ran, biked, and swam the same day, does that count as a triathlon?  Winking

Ruth - I got your Denard bobblehead at the game yesterday and will ship it off to you.  Very cool looking, I think.  Badger - that was a good series between your team and mine.  Could be a very interesting September for both of us.  BTW, saw a little girl with a Hank Brewers jersey t-shirt on.  The number on the shirt was "K9" - completely cute!

Half hour of yoga yesterday - good to work out all the sore muscles from the weekend!

    Great picture, Claire!

Nats, I will be waiting by the mailbox for Denard to arrive. I am so excited! (Yes, we baseball fans are a weird bunch Loopy!)

Zumba. We have heat index warnings & a bunch of storm warnings flashing across the TV screen, so it could be an interesting night!

Swam and spent 30 minutes aqua jogging yesterday. Unfortunately today was a travel day for work so no gym tonight. I am off the rest of the week so I plan to double up on my exercise time.

    Happy Monday!

Ruth - I noticed the colorful radar around Bismark ND on the news tonight.  Since I'm too lazy to look it up, how far are you from Bismark?  We'll be getting the rain and possible storms tomorrow night.

Cheryl: Glad you could get up the the SD ladies for lunch.

    _Ann_: Keep getting better!

Ruth: Please don't send your heat my way! We've had lots of rain but temps have been in the 70's.

Claire: You look so happy in your picture!

Nats: Running, biking, and swimming in the same day definitely counts as a triathlon!

Hello All! It's been a good day. Power walked/jogged this evening.

NatsFan, you could be a tri,  happy finish photo Claire, Pat, I too would not be happy to have my gym closed, Cheryl, what a great time with Ann and the other women in SD, Ruth stay cool, Odie, go for it!  My friend who visited talked of this book:Younger Next Year for Women: Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy—Until You're 80 and Beyond, by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge.  I downloaded it and very interesting reading.

Anyway, body balance and power step yesterday and today, off to body balance and yoga with son tonight.

Claire - what a fabulous picture!!!  Love the grin on your face - you did it!!

Kindergarten - have fun on your hike!!!  Hiking in San Jacinto is one of my favorite memories - a few years ago dh had a conference in May in Palm Springs and I tagged along.  One day I went up the Tram and got a backcountry hiking permit.  There was still about half a foot of snow on the ground, but it was about 55 degrees out, so it was perfect hiking weather.  What a beautiful place that was!  A few days later, I drove out to Joshua Tree and hiked to the 49 Palms Oasis in the 100 degree desert heat. I'd never seen anything like the Oasis before (and spotting the resident rattlesnake sunning himself on a rock was even more memorable).  The contrast between the two hiking experiences was really neat. We also caught the Palm Springs Follies one night - what a hoot!

Had a bad night of hot flashes last night and was awake most of the night, so I slept in this morning instead of working out - now I need to do some serious walking tonight!  I've been off Femara for a year - I thought the hot flashes would have eased by now.  Devil

As soon as I get off, I am going to download Lilac's Strong, Fit, Sexy book......nice adjectives to be called at any age.

We survived the wild weather night, some people had trees knocked down but we just had a yard full of downed leaves & branches. So I got plenty of squats in picking them all up, then did Core, Pilates & walked for awhile....the winds must have pushed the hot, muggy weather to someplace else, because it was beautiful here today.

Here's a quote I found that reminded me of everyone on this thread. Keep shining, ladies!!!!

    Glad you're OK Ruth.

Kindergarten: Sounds like lovely hiking out there, but a bit warm for me!

Claire: you continue to amaze me with your energizer bunny routine.

LB, Ruth, Claire, hbcheryl, Badger: You (along with almost everyone else here) continue to inspire me with your daily discipline ThumbsUp!

I got in a 35 minute brisk walk in the hot, humid, hazy weather tonight and managed to run 2 minutes, 27 seconds right in the middle to the Beach Boys 'Surfin USA'.  That was a plenty long enough run in this weather for someone not conditioned for it!  Followed the walk with calf stretches, a good all over body stretch routine, flower watering and helping DH stake and tie up some tomato plants that are beginning to look like Jack's beanstalk.  Hit 10,000 steps a bit after I got home from the walk.  The California Dreaming girls can really appreciate it when I say it sure does feel good to feel good SmileSmileSmileSmile!!!!

Ok, so today I golfed 18 holes and walked the dog a couple of kms. Total of 14,620 steps. I have to find a new gym too. Boo to that.

Ruth & Wonderland you look great. Ruth love your WWW ladies. Claire - so proud and happy in that pic.

been off for a few days but I have been exercising every day. I am up to 8 miles on my bike. Swam 1/2 mile a couple of days and just started week 6 of couch to 5k this morning.  Jogged two twelve minute intervals with a 3 minute walk in between.

We were having some lovely cool weather but it looks like the hot humid weather has made it to ct. Good thing tomorrow is a swimming day...

Such a proud moment Claire. Great photo! Cheryl, proud of you for finding a workout before the bco sisters luncheon. Love the monthly get togethers with my local group. Nats, definitely a triathlon! You inspire me...Ruth, glad you fared the storms well. Scary...

Exercise for me today was bootcamp. Funny story there.... My sarcastic self has been joking that the only thing we don't do in bootcamp is manually pull a plane (like on biggest loser show)...Well, I got an email yesterday that our group will be participating in a plane pull event next month!! Luckily it is optional and they also have a 5k race that day which is more my speed...ha ha. ...

To everyone including anyone I missed, keep moving and sweet dreams my sculpted sisters.

Mary I think my hot flashes have gotten worse since the end of Femara, and I know what you mean as I had one of those nights last Friday I got a whole 2 hours of sleep luckily after classes on Saturday I hit the couch and Zzzzzz'd away the whole day. Sweet so glad you are getting better, you had a rough run if it. Odie I'll bet pulling a plane would be fun, you should do it that is as long as it's not a 747, and moral of the story is be careful what you whisper under your breath as someone is always listeningWinking Red don't you just hate when that happens. LB when you come to the US next year are you just going to Atlanta to see your friend or are you visiting anywhere else?

Tonight went to Body Jam, oh my, new release, by the time it went from her showing us to my brain then to my feet they were on to something else, I know I'll get it eventually but the word I would use to describe the class is 'challenging'Loopy

    Good Evening Sculpted Sisters,

Today my MO stopped my Herceptin infusions early due to SE's. My treatment is officially over. Now I really have to get serious about exercise as I've gained 40 pounds while in treatment. I was shocked today to find out how much I actually gained. I'm struggling daily with exercise due to side effects and fatigue. It amazes me how some women can exercise during chemo. It was all I could do to go from the chair to the bed, and get in an occasional 15 minute walk with stretching. How long did it take you to get back into a full routine after treatment??

SDB - I couldn't exercise much during chemo either - it totally flattened me.   I never really understood the full meaning of the word "fatigue" until chemo. Sad  And yeah, the chemopounds are an added "bonus", aren't they?  But two weeks after chemo I started a yoga class and got on the elliptical for the first time in months.  Those first few weeks were not pretty - I could hold yoga poses for only a few seconds, and I lasted all of 5 minutes on the elliptical.  But it gets better.

Cheryl - glad I'm not the only one with post-Femara hot flashes.  I have my annual MO appt Friday and that's definitely going to be one of the topics.  Odie - LOL on pulling the plane.  Is that at Dulles?  I saw an ad for a plane pull and 5K there last year and it looked interesting.

Ruth - I turned Denard over to the Post Office yesterday, so he should show up in the mail in a week or so.

Took Mikey for a long walk last night.  Then DH and I went for another walk and somehow ended up a mile away at the neighborhood Mexican restaurant - can't imagine how that happened!  Winking  30 minutes of weights this morning.

We had two hot humid days so I only walked the dog for 20 minutes last night. Today is beautiful again but going out to dinner so I'm not sure I'll get any in.

SDB I was completely flattened by chemo and scary weak afterward. I could not walk one flight of stairs without stopping to catch my breath nor walk a mile. I started with slow 10 minute walks and gradually worked up. It's not permanent!

Ruth, I love all your weekly walking pictures!! Do you all walk on the weekend or during the week? I'm trying to find a walking partner during the week, but everyone that I know works.

Love to see that a little rain does not stop the Wednesday Walking Women. Slowdeepbreaths,  just start moving and we will be here to cheer you on. Take things at your own pace and you will get stronger over time.

Mary, the plane pull/5k run is the Dulles event at Dulles Airport. Hubby thinks I should do the plane pull not the 5k but I am leaning towards running my first formal 5K (without obstacles). After all, pulling a plane is not on my bucket list but I am sure it would be fun.

Today's exercise was an hour of aqua jogging, an hour of swimming and half an hour of Yoga. Plus I had my yearly MO visit and was declared good to go for another year...

    Congratulations on your checkup, Odie!

Slow, we are all retired teachers & meet each Wednesday at 8am, walk for an hour & eat for two....so it is definitely not a weight management type of thing! And it is a whomever is around type of thing, so some weeks it's a big group & sometimes it's just a couple gals. My SIL has a group of walking ladies who all work & walk at a ridiculously early time a couple days a week.....I don't know how you'd feel about that, or do you know someone who'd want to walk right after work or after dinner?
