Slow, Odie is right. Every little bit helps and you just keep doing what you can do.
Odie, if the 5k is on your bucket list then do the plane pull next year. Maybe it will make the bucket list by then. lol
Today I bagged off my workout at the gym but with a really good reason - my DD finally had saved enough money to buy a car after 4 years without one. She had used the Imperial Bank of Mommy to ensure she didn't spend her money frivolously and managed to get herself a little 4 banger for her daughter and her. I, of course, had to bring the money, then take us all out for ice cream.
So I walked the dog after dinner to make up for it, but tomorrow I will have to work just a little harder since I only did 6,566 steps today. Cringe. O well, I'll keep on truckin'.
Have a lovely evening ladies.

Hi everyone. So much good progress here.
Walked and hooped today. Yesterday I overdid it with the new hoop group, about two hours worth.
Had my first Reclast infusion today. So far I'm not getting any side effects. It was creepy getting an infusion for the first time since chemo. That awful taste in the mouth from flushing the line-- eeek! But hopefully my bone loss will stop and I won't cross over into full osteoporosis.
Still doing my shoulder rehab. I've actually lost range of motion since starting the study. Perhaps I wasn't really out of the "freezing" state when I started. Or is it possible the exercises and injections are causing more inflammation? Well I'm determined to stick it out, then if it's not improving by the end I may switch over to PT.

Odie, a 5k sounds good, Ruth, everyone looks so healthy and tan! Cheryl, I'll be only in Atlanta, a quick trip for a conference. I want to l hook up with you and workout when next in California and don't know when that is. Don't travel to the US that often as my family is tiny and they usually visit me. S&S, good that you are doing well and SDB, I hope you can embark soon on making changes to becoming more fit and the weight you desire. You too soriya123! Ann, hope the tx works well for you.
Yesterday, power step and body balance at the gym. Had to get the car in for a tune up and new left rear tyre this morning, so I'm hoping to make 4pm yoga, if the car can get back in time. Very hot here and I'm loving it!

Forgot to check in last night. Got in a 15-20 minute walk with co-workers at afternoon break and a 35 minute brisk walk in the evening (3 minute slow run in the middle of it). Pulled a bunch of stubborn weeds from those seams in the driveway cement that accumulate dirt and therefore sprout growing things, then used my leaf blower to clean things up. Stretch routine, then a shower and relax time before bed.

Odie - congrats on the great appointment with your MO - my annual appt is tomorrow, so I'm hoping for a similar good report. That 5K at Dulles looks interesting - a nice flat fast course. And it'd certainly be different running on the runway of an international airport - we've run in parks, roads, and even through a tunnel, but I've never done a run on a real airport runway. When we saw the info about it last year, we both thought it looked like fun - maybe we'll see you there! The only issue that we already have a 5K scheduled for the very next day out in Annapolis - we have a co-worker with Stage IV ovarian cancer who has a team for their annual 5K run/walk, and we've run to support her team for the last 3 years. I don't know about doing 5K races two days in a row. Ann - so sorry you aren't seeing progress with your shoulder - maybe it's one of those things that has to get worse to get better?? Red - sounds like a fun day with DD - a new car and ice cream all in the same day. LOL on the Imperial Bank of Mommy!
30 minutes aerobic DVD this morning.

I got in a run last night plus a long chat with the guy I met doing the Seattle-to-Portland. I can tell he is really fit as did with a bicycle that has only one gear!!! (I was looking for more low gears on my bicycle.) I am FINALLY recovered as the run last night was infinitely easier than the one I did on Monday.
I also signed up for the Tour de Lavender which is in 10 days. I will ferry it over to the Olympic Peninsula on Friday, hit the winery nearby for a tasting, and spend Friday evening at the hostel. Free artichokes, which are different and tastier than the ones I normally get. Hikers and cyclists at the hostel. Then Saturday will be the ride itself, which is 75 miles, going along the coast and through lavender fields. Proceeds to complete the Discovery Trail which will eventually go all the way out to the Pacific Coast.
Still raining here this morning and much needed. Including watering the bumper crop of blackberries which are just getting ripe.
Odie....congrats on the "all clear". So wonderful to have that confirmed. I was surprised at how great it felt to get the five year one.
Should be another glorious weekend, so can't wait. Still need to get in a swim, and should be warm enough. Now THAT will be fun. - Claire

Thanks for all the encouragement!!
odie, Congratulations on a good yearly checkup!
Ruth, yes, my husband and son would both walk with me in the evenings. They both work during the day. I'm pretty tired once nighttime rolls around though. I have more energy in the mornings. I will work on finding a group that walks during the day.
Ann, sorry to hear about your range of motion loss. I really hope this study starts to help you soon!
NatsFan, good luck tomorrow!! Sending good thoughts your way!!
Claire, Wow, you're inspiring! I get tired just reading all you do!!
This is such a great thread. So nice to see people moving forward from treatment and doing well. I hope to be like you all soon!!

SlowDeepBreath, you looked slim and beautiful when I met you in June! You must have needed to gain some weight!! Now, that your treatment is over, you will get the energy back to exercise!!
Oldie, congrats on a great checkup!
Ruth, love the pics if your walking group!!
Ann, hope you heal soon!!
Claire, you are amazing!!
Walked and the elyptical this morning!!!

Bless your heart Kindergarten! I've gained a LOT since I saw you in June. The doctor thinks it's the Herceptin.

Odie I sure hope the plane pull is a team event but I'm not sure that's on my bucket list either.
Ann, sorry your shoulder doesn't seem to be getting better. Could it be that you might get worse before you get better? We'll hope on that.
Claire, a lavender ride sounds beautiful.
I just had an MO appointment also. It was uneventful except for me complaining about my hot flashes. I'm still on the three month schedule. When do you graduate to 6 months or a year?
Oh I forgot this is an exercise thread. I walked a half hour with my husband and dog this evening.

Core this morning & Zumba tonight. Yikes, my pilates teacher has a family crisis & quit teaching just like that! So.....I don't know when they will replace her or with whom.....just ordered a couple pilates DVDs to tide me over until they do.

only a 15 minute walk at morning break today.....sigh

Thanks for all the well wishes on the uneventful annual visit. Mary, I wish the same for you tomorrow. I am now 3 years out and like Claire will be happy to surpass the five year milestone. While I know it can come back at any given point, I just feel like I can put it behind me at that point as a bad memory.....LOL
Ann, hope your shoulder starts feeling better. Always one step forward with two back sometimes.

While the plane pull is a team event, I really think the run is more my speed. Would love to see you there Mary and suspect back to back run events may not be no a big deal for you since you run regularly.

As for exercise today, I cleaned house and went to bootcamp tonight. Hoping to spend some quality pool time tomorrow.

Report for yesterday was Sh'bam in the morning the Body Combat in the evening, well today was another story went to Body Jam, they changed the time to 6.30pm which puts us right in the middle of crawl traffic on the freeway but we carpool so we talk and moan and groan all the way there, well tonight pulled into the parking lot and huh no cars, there was a city wide power outage and the gym was closed, we took a picture of our sad faces got back in the car and crawled back up the freeway home, the trip back took longer than the trip down bleah
Now I have to think about doing something tomorrow seeing as though my 'off' day turned out to be today
Odie and TwoHobbies congrats on the great check ups and Mary wishing the same for you tomorrow. If only I could ride a bike those lavender fields sound lovely. LB what a pity you're going to coming on a flying visit it would be lovely to get to meet you IRL. SBD just start slowly, have you looked into some gentle yoga classes through your hospital that might be a nice way to start.

Off to the gym for power step yet just read this new addition for tx:

TwoHobbies - I was on a 3 month MO schedule for the first 2 years, then a 4 month for the next two years, then a 6 month for year 5. Now I'm on an annual schedule. You better believe I'm going to be complaining about my hot flashes to my MO today as well. Ruth - sorry about the pilates teacher - isn't that the way it always goes? LB - interesting article on rads. Things have changed so much even in just the 6 years since I was dx - I have a feeling that in 15 years they're going to look back and be horrified at how primitive our current treatments are, just like we look back now and are horrified about things like radical Halstead mx and cobalt rads. Cheryl - how frustrating to fight traffic only to have the gym closed. Do they have a Twitter account? Twitter is handy for stuff like that - you can "follow" them on twitter, and most businesses will tweet out if they have an unexpected closure or other schedule change. I like Twitter - I rarely tweet out, but I follow local businesses I use a lot. I also follow local governments for traffic reports, I follow BaoBao the baby panda at the zoo (very cute Twitter account), I follow some local running groups, some birding groups, and of course I follow a bunch of players and beat writers for the Nationals!

It's a beautiful morning here - it was a lovely 60 degrees at 6am with low humidity - you better believe I took advantage of it and got out for a run this morning. MO appt this afternoon, then off to the cabin this weekend - it's been three weeks, so I don't even want to think about how overgrown it's going to be! Oh well, that's what mowers and clippers are for.

I think a team plane pull sounds like a ton of fun! If there were ever anything like that closer to me I know some peeps who would be gung ho to give it a try. Cheryl - how disappointing to be all hyped for class and have the gym closed! Hope you can summon that feeling back up today. Mary - fingers crossed for your follow-up today - my bet is you'll pass with flying colors. And I agree with Odie, I think you'd do fine with the back to back 5Ks. Go for it! Ruth - looked like ND was in the crosshairs again for possible storms - everything OK out there? I don't remember if it was for last night or forecasted for today though. Slowdeepbreaths - hang in there girlfriend - this too shall pass.
I'm looking forward to an afternoon and evening spent with church friends from our Haiti mission team a few years ago. A little sun, maybe some boating, roasting dogs and brats, and then s'mores - yum. We always have a blast because everyone like to tease and laugh and look at our glasses as not just being half-full, they're over-flowing!
Edited to add: I realized a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't worked a full week yet this summer! Having the excuse to take this afternoon off to go to the lake extended that run. I have Friday Aug 22 and the following week off for my daughter's visit home from Maryland, so I plan to take at least half a day off during each of the next three weeks so I can say I didn't work a whole week the summer of 2014 - hahahahahaha!

Two Hobbies,
congratulations on a good checkup!! Hot flashes suck- hope they get better for
you soon!!hbCheryl, What a disappointment to get there and have them
be closed!!Sorry you lost your pilates teacher Ruth. Hope they hire
someone new soon.Sweetandspecial, enjoy your day and evening with your church
friends! Sounds like fun!Did stretching and a 15 minute walk this morning. I also added 15 minutes on my exercise bike.
Now I’m off to take a nap. LOL0 -
Walking and doing house chores to be ready for surgery next week.

Odie, congratulations on the checkup results. Here's to another one, and another, and another...
Claire, sounds like you're a little infatuated with Mr Single Gear ;-)
I was knocked out for two days by my Reclast infusion. Sicker than from chemo! I actually barfed. Was so PO'd that they didn't give anti-nausea meds as a precaution. They told me to call if I had problems. Of course I was too sick to pick up any Rx at that point. /end rant.
Working back up to staying upright today, took a little walk and ten minutes or so hoop dancing.

Oh Ann, that sounds horrible!!!
I did Insanity this morning, 15 minutes of abs, a half-hour walk and have been cleaning the house ever since (something I should have done a week & a half ago when I got home from NC, so it was really bad...blah, not my favorite way to spend a nice summer afternoon...but at least it is temporarily done).
I have been doing a virtual vacation the last couple days, DS & a friend of his are on vacation in San Diego & he has been nice enough to text his good old mom some pictures & updates.....looks like they are having a blast.....and it's a shame that they are too old to need a chaperone!

enjoyed a non-humid morning jog this morning. 1 more day left in week 6 of couch to 5k. Then I swam 1/2 mile at the lake this afternoon.
Ruth- I love it when the house is clean and organized; just wish it would last longer...

Sweet, love the way your summer schedule has worked out.
Ann, how awful! I hope you feel better soon.
Claire, bet the lavender ride was intoxicating. Love the smell of lavender.
Cheryl, what a bummer fighting traffic just to find the gym closed. Hope you were able to enjoy good company during your travels.
Today's exercise was 45 minutes of swimming laps and 45 minutes of aqua jogging.

Ann I am so sorry that happened to you, hope that by tomorrow you are feeling better. Sweet LOL on the summer schedule, now that is one goal I'd be trying to make
Ruth hope your house cleaning went better than mine, this afternoon I was mopping the kitchen floor and there is a lip between the kitchen and living room well as I was pushing the mop forward and back with momentum my foot got caught on the lip and I tipped sideways and ended up on the floor, I pictured myself like the lady on the tv 'help I've fallen and I can't get up' but I managed to pick myself up and dust myself off. Went to the gym this evening and did something I haven't done in years, I walked on the treadmill for 40 minutes, I am very proud of myself I managed to download an app on my phone so I was able to listen to music while I walked then I went to Body Pump class, closed the evening by eating fabulous Mexican food

Wow LB, that is amazing! I hope it is taken up here in Canada too! There are more SE's to rads than are being reported on regular sites and this would make surgery SE's and Rad SE's happen at the same time, then be gone. That would be so cool!
Did 8,102 steps yesterday. Most of it chasing after my GD who slept over last night while her mom was in a sleep clinic.

NatsFan/Mary and Red, here is a article on the intrabeam radiotherapy from 2011 apparently something you in the US, already have. I've not read about here on the BCO threads nor have I been looking for it yet I think it's interesting too. I find the amount of checks in the US vs the UK, different. On the NHS with a stage I or II, depending on the situation, you get a check every year or back on the regular schedule for those age 47 and over of every three years. I have private insurance so I see my consultant breast surgeon for annual MO up to year 5 and then back to every three year checks with NHS.
Hot day here and it's my day off working out. I'm making up for it on all the running around and chores getting done.

Nice day here, went for a long walk.

Spin and Bootcamp this morning, I haven't been to Bootcamp in weeks and of course it was like starting all over again and I left my spin shoes at home and you forget what a difference it makes, then I came home had some eggs and laid on the couch and napped for two hours, now to start my Saturday

I walked for 47 minutes today in muggy, muggy air. Even though it was 78 degrees it's amazing how much more draining that is. I should have gone to the pool instead! I hope you all had a great Saturday!

No formal exercise for me today but plenty of walking while running errands and some swimming.
