Vettegirl is Remidex a form of Arimidex (Anastrozole)?

Hello everyone,
I'm new here and the moderators suggested I check out this group as well, as I am triple positive. I was diagnosed earlier this month on the 19th and started chemo Thursday the 28th. Still somewhat shell-shocked, but feeling positive and optimistic, too. Looking forward to moving through this with others who can relate.

Welcome Cassie. This is a great group to join. There are a lot of fantastic women on here that are very knowledgeable. They were a lifesaver for me when I was first diagnosed!

hi, CassieCat! love your name! I knew a girl in my extreme youth whose name was cassie, only girl i ever had a crush on! but dont let that scare you away! There are some truly great women on this thread, so i do hope you keep coming back. You can read back through it some, just to get to know us better, and also, because there are some slightly newer members, who have kind of finished up, where you are just now starting, so there may be some relevant information for you there as well. this thread is more active during the week than it is on weekends, cause everybody is out living their lives! i just can hardly tear myself away from here for too long, i am still studying many things associated with Breast cancer and its treatments. A couple of the newer ladies are linda505, and footballnut, altho i havent seen her much lately, and have been wondering. she was having so much fun DURING chemo, that i was astounded, and so i think shes out there, tearing up the place now that she's done!
Welcome to you, and good for you for finding BCO so early in the game!
i came here to tell everyone i did get my WHIP study stuff in the mail today, Wheeeee!

Not sure lago-my MO just said at my next appoitnment, we will discuss whether I am going on Tamoxifan or Remidex. Was just curious if any of you were on it and what to expect if I chose that one. I will try to research it some.....

not certain but likely was saying arimedex...aka anastrozole in generic form. Both tamoxifen & arimedex are what I will unscientifically call ' anti estrogens" . Estrogen is a fuel for ER pos cancers.
The decision on which to use is dependent on many factors but it is usually based on whether you are pre, peri or post menopausal .
The two meds work in different ways.

tamox allows estrogen to circulate, but plugs the receptors in your breasts, cause younger women mostly need the protection of estrogen and stuff. arimidex and femara etc beat the hell out of your estrogen mostly completely.

Cassiecat - welcome and you have found the right place!! The women here have been a huge help to me since I was diagnosed and if you ask a question one of them will be along to help you out!! I am about 2 months out from completing chemo and just starting to feel normal sort of lol. There are lots of things you can ask your MO for if you are having side effects from the chemo so ask away as someone will have a suggestion.
Kathec - Footballnut is doing good - she has one more taxol treatment next week then she is done with chemo. She has a band and has two gigs planned for breast cancer funding in Canada and is very busy planning those. She is amazing!! I really think she is a super hero in disguise LOL.

Thank you for the welcomes.
I'm still finding my way around but glad to have found this site and these boards. I hope to be able to be helpful down the road, too and not just take, take, take.

Hi Cassiecat. This really is the worst part. Once you have your treatment plan it seems to be a bit better. What's so scary at the start is the unknowns… so ask questions. Any info you get here you need to be sure to check with your doctors. There are some smart women here but your situation may be different. We don't now your medical history nor should we.
But you'll get through this.
BTW today I'm celebrating NED's 4th anniversary!

I've really lost some brain power I know but I don't care LOL and I haven't gotten fired yet--stupid men--One lady called and said lights were going on and off in some room without the switch, I told her she doesn't need an electrician, she needs an exorcist. And that's just a small portion of how I handle my job, Oy vey Oh Oh I learned how to semi-text-my GS taught me, I'm getting a hang of this century like a wiz.

Not sure about that.

Well just had my 6 month check up today. My blood work came out normal and my yearly mammogram is set up for next month. She said well see you in the next 6 months march 3rd. So clean bill of health so far.

I didn't even read it yet, i just opened it and put it on my clip-board! i will have to think about the saliva sample. would hate my spit to get in the wrong hands! i guess its probably so they can get all your levels of what you are taking in the least invasive way possible. i was trying to finish up a program i do every wednesday with ACS, council on aging for cancer survivors, and i was doing so much research on a good diet for lowering cholesterol, and lowering inflammation that i got behind on that, much less cracking into WHIP! Hopefully, tonight though.

Hello sisters!!!
As you may have noticed, I have been away for awhile. NOTHING IS WRONG - I AM FINE! I apologize if I have caused any of you to worry. As you may recall, I am organizing two fundraising events. The first to be held Saturday Oct 25 in support of the Trillium Health Partner Foundation - Credit Valley Hospital, Cancer Services; the second to be held Friday, November 21 in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. For the past several weeks, I have been devoted to this. Both will be held under the banner name - ROCKING IT BALD. I have created t-shirts using my hubby’s design, bought the domain name rockingitbald.com (the site will be up shortly - I have been working on it for weeks!!), trying to get items for door prizes and silent auctions, meeting with representatives from the Trillium Health Partners Foundation, updating my ROCKING IT BALD facebook page and trying to get volunteers for the events.
On top of this, I have been rehearsing with my AC/DC tribute band BARE RUMP and classic rock band LEFTY AND THE GOONS as both will be performing at the events in addition to the Relay For Life, Friday, Sept 12 in Norval, Ontario.
On top of this, I participated in a video to share my story sponsored by Scottie’s in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. I have another video shoot this Friday for the cancer centre at the hospital where I am being treated - Credit Valley.
In addition to this, I have been trying to go to the gym 4-5 times per week, and have been continuing my treatment.
Needless to say, I’ve been crazy busy so again, do apologize!!
Tomorrow is my last chemo treatment of taxol. DONE!!!! Can’t wait - I’m too busy for this! I can’t complain about the side effects. I had 3 treatments in a row then was off for a week, then the last 3. I am starting to feel some needles and pins in my finger tips and have an odd ache in my left rib. I’m waiting for swelling due to water retention - after my first 3 rounds I gained 6 pounds of water. It was awful!! I’v also had ringing in my right ear for WEEKS but this started off and on last year. My mom calls it “age”.
lol
I will also get round 4 of herceptin tomorrow which will continue every 3 weeks until the end of June 2015.
If anyone wants to keep in touch, I would suggest hitting me up on Facebook if you haven’t already. I’m Angie Sandow and you’ll see a picture of me in a beanie. I will continue to pop in but for now, I am soooo busy that I hardly have time to reherase with my bands!!
I would also appreciate if you would “like” my Rocking It Bald facebook page. As I mentioned above, my website will be up shortly. In the next few weeks, I will start volunteering at Wellspring and hope to commence my volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society. I hope to use this and my Rocking It Bald site to network in the hopes of starting a career in public speaking down the road.I hope that all are well!!!!
