Well went to the park and walked around the lake, about 1-1/2 miles then to the mall and bought expensive organic tea! Need to watch that spur-of-the-minute stuff but it smelled so delicious and going up to make some in a bit. Decided to leave the massage for either tomorrow (might rain) or Monday when I have no plans. We'll see.
I have trigger thumb for about 2 weeks now. Bought a finger splint at CVS and wear it often during the day and to bed. The pain in the little nodule at the thumb base is gone and the trigger at the joint is not as bad so hopefully after wearing it for another week or so it will be all better.
Going to have a big salad now before it gets too late.
Night my sculpted friends.

Nothing specific today. Slept late (watched 'Outlander' until after midnight). Some laundry, the typical Saturday pick up, put away, pick up, put away routine walking from room to room. Had an outdoor wedding at 4pm, the absolute windiest outdoor wedding I can imagine! Cloudy but no rain and at least the reception was inside. Just got home from the reception and will enjoy some quality time with DD and her boyfriend - they leave on Monday
. Tomorrow afternoon we go to Ludington (about an hour away) to view DS and fiance's wedding venue (June 2016) so will actually have the whole fam together for a few hours - YAY!Night my sculpted beauties!

Ruth, wtg on getting on the treadmill to work off the cookie!
Typical Saturday here with the usual errands but I managed a brisk pace walk for 45 minutes before vacuuming the pool in anticipation for hot weather tomorrow.
Sweet dreams my sculpted sisters.

Nice avatar, Claire.
Good Evening All. Today a friend and I hiked at Stone Mountain State Park in NC. Her Fitbit recorded 17,000 steps, 115 flight of stairs, and we burned 1500 calories. The loop we hiked is marked strenuous with the hardest part being the steep stairs that take you down the mountain. Our legs were shaking! All in all, a beautiful, hot, humid, fun day with a good friend.
I'm on the left.

I had to walk off that cookie because I am going to a family reunion in Minnesota next weekend (Natsfan, Twins game Saturday night!), and I know I will eat too much of loads of excellent food of there, so I vowed to religiously stay in the loseit recommended calories until then.....5 days to go!
I just did 30 minutes of pilates now. I didn't even have time to think about food all day because I started working on A BIG PROJECT. The first year I taught, 4 other young, single teachers and I got to be very good friends. Even though we have moved apart (3 moved away after that year) & really went on to live pretty different lives; it really was such a magical year that we have stayed friends & make a point of getting together at least once a year. In a couple weeks everyone gathering here (we go different places, but thought this was the year to come back to our 'roots'). We'll drive around to the old spots (what does it say about the passage of time that our favorite pizza joint was torn down and funeral home was built on the lot
), watch The Way We Were, eat lots, have a few drinks, play cards & board games, and tell exaggerated stories of our misspent youth. Anyway, I have always taken lots of pictures (no surprise to those who have traveled to me), and I got the idea to make some of picture collages like the ones we posted during the California Dreaming trip. So my project is tearing apart old albums and putting together collages (which I will print out and make into booklets)......which is an enormous project since I am going through 40 years of pictures!!!0 -
OMG Ruth that made me LOL, maybe you could buy a pizza and sit in you car outside and reminisce, have a look at Shutterfly for your books. Sweet my next door neighbor is still in home in Ludington funny if you run into her. Great new pic Claire. Wonderland you day sounds fantastic and lovely photo. Patoo a massage sounds lovely.
Did Bootcamp this morning, I have blisters on my heels from my spin shoes and that crazy guy we took class from this week.

Teacher- i am very slow too but the way I see it is we are faster than we were when we were sitting on the couch...
I jogged for 50 minutes yesterday morning. Going out for a bike ride this morning.
Ruth- that is one ambitious project. Have fun with your friends.

Ruth, good luck! But if anyone can do it, you can.
Tried something called nicadance. It's like BodyJam. They were filming while we were dancing as this was a Reebok promotional event. Lifted some weights afterwards.
Great pic, wonderland!

The weather is just putrid here so I have been doing runs, not cycling, but need to get out today on the bicycle. My place smells so aromatic as visited the farmers market, so have basil and dill in jugs and the combined scent of tomatoes, peppers, peaches, and melon. Quite the amazing aroma.
Maybe my new beau and I can do the planned hike on Saturday? Will be more fun with him. I do know that driving 3 hours in rain and fog to do a hike where you can't see much isn't my idea of a good time.
I am glad everyone likes my new picture. I cropped it from a picture of the nonprofit CEO and me taking in a bit of wine tasting post photo shoot. More to come.
My big thing this weekend is a regroup to figure out the journey forward. In some ways, like post active treatment as the script isn't written. But for me, a stage of what I can "encore career" at a time when the script for most people is "retirement". Well, not when you work long hours and have a new love interest. But the goal is more creating a lasting legacy from using my talents in new ways. I have pulled out my Stephen Covey 8th Habit book for a bit of guidance. I didn't understand it when I read it 10 years ago, but I do now.
As I live in an "active 55+" place, I see a lot of people who walk with canes. I have to wonder how many would need help if they had kept active? I know that my goal would be to walk MILES, not just a few steps. This, in an area where walking is easy to do.
Interesting....just pulled out my passport, and except for shorter, better-coifed hair, I look like my old self once again. This picture was taken about 8 years ago.
One other piece of the regroup is figuring out what I need to buy work-wise. For years, I worked from home so just needed a few items. Now, I go in 5 days a week. Plus, needing to sew up a few holes in one of my "good" sweaters yesterday really drove home the point. I do finally have enough black slacks, but need a few other fabulous items. One of these is a great blazer. Plus layering sweaters (without holes) and cool blouses. These are different items than in NYC, and need to fit the overall image.
Anyway, most of this is fun stuff. I can't believe the changes in my life from a year ago.....all good. So perhaps I should start my shopping list with an alluring and warm nightdress

hi all, been off the board for a fortnight but I'm all caught up. DH took his annual summer vacation and besides him hogging up the computer, we kept quite busy whittling down the honey-do list.
Cheryl, I'm so sorry to read about Frank. He was a good cat. I will never forget the look on his face when he realized the person with him in the bed by the window wasn't you. Glad I got to meet him.
Congrats on 32 years of wedded bliss Lisa & DH and Mary & DH.
Ruth, good luck going thru 40 years of pix, that's a labor of love.
Mary, fingers crossed for M, my DH has had kidney stones and they're brutal.
Welcome amimallvr and Aurora! I started out slowly myself and am still kind of slow esp. compared to some here but it's all good, just do what you can.
My mom bought an iPad and it's been fun (not) teaching her to use it.
Been walking most every day, logged 61.2 miles since last post. I like to get out early because it's cooler then. This morning was gorgeous and walked for an hour. I've mapped out several routes, and today did the 4-mile walk in honor of BCO sisters. The 1st mile is for chillipadi, the 2nd mile is for Marybe, the 3rd mile is for my sisters here on LPoDE, and the last mile is for me. Yesterday I took a walk in the early morning rain for my friend Linda-n3 whom I will miss.
John, in the winter, I walk laps indoors at an oval track. Definitely need music for that! I still use my vintage Walkman with cassette mix tapes. OK I'd better post this before it disappears. ♥

Wonderland, looking good..
Spent my day exercising in the pool. Water jogged for 45 minutes, swam laps for 45 minutes and leisurely swam for an hour. Got my vitamin D therapy too.

Spent 2 hours walking around IKEA. That's more walking that I had done since my surgery last year. Calories wise though it didn't make much difference since after walking we went to eat at Burger King and ate hamburger fries and coke and to top it all I ate a cinammon rol from IKEA. I had lots of fun though with my family so I feel content.

Did 45 minutes of toning with a Denise Austin DVD I just bought Shrink Your Fat Zones, which sounds like a good plan to me!
Still knee deep in faded photographs.....

Badger I'm glad you got to meet Frank, he was a funny boy and it's very lonely without him. Too funny about your Mom but once she gets the hang of it she will have fun, my friends DH didn't want anything to do with the computer age but now he has an iPad you'd think he invented the internet! Claire you should look at Assistance Leagues boutiques in upscale neighborhoods for really good clothing at reasonable prices. Auroaya you had a fun day with the family and even if you ate you also walked, so good job. Odie sounds like you are enjoying the pool. I spent the afternoon at the mall, I'm going to a wedding and was looking for a new dress but I found one in Penny's one in Macys and two at Dress Barn bought them all now I have to decide which I really want to keep at least it's better than finding nothing.
Did Body Step this morning, and my abs are on fire from the Bootcamp I did yesterday so I guess those sets of flutter kicks really did work.

Enjoy Ruth! Badger, I have a friend who is 74 and she is getting a ipad as windows 8 is too much for her and I hope she can deal with that better. Cheryl, that is how I buy for a event - the take-back routine when finally settled on which one to wear. TwoHobbies, soon enough the nine months of rain, wind and some snow will start. For now, just stick with being consistent, reaching a little further and a little faster and signed up for two more 10k this year. Claire, so I take it the new beau is a keeper?
Just in from a 12.45k run as I think, no I know my Nike+ on my ipod is off by a k, so wanted to make sure I ran a full 10k. I'll run a shorter run on Wednesday and that is it running wise until the village 10k (chipped timed) on Saturday. Going to power step tonight. Son back to school on Thursday - Yippee!

Off work today for the Labor Day holiday. Woke up at 4:30 and thought, this is when I'd be getting up, but I rolled over and went back to sleep. Woke up at 6:00 and thought, this is when I'd be picking up my carpooler, but I rolled over and went back to sleep. Didn't wake up until 8:00 wow that's sleeping in! Some of the best sleep is that luxurious last hour when you snuggle back in.
Haven't gone for a walk yet but I will, after my second cuppa. ♥

Got up at 6am today but only because we had to take DD and her boyfriend to the airport. Just got back a little while ago and miss them (mostly her, of course) already
. The promised clouds and rain have moved in so probably no outdoor exercise today. Gym was only open until noon so I'm thinking a little nap might be called for today. Did get in a short walk on the Lake Michigan beach at Ludington State Park yesterday with DH, DS, his fiance, DD and her boyfriend (was great to have everyone together because it's been quite a while!). Also got to see DS's wedding venue (June 11, 2016) and it was absolutely gorgeous! Outdoor wedding with reception in a big old re-purposed barn, cocktails by the pool while wedding photos are taken, and a wonderful house 100 yards away with several bedrooms and tons of wonderful antiques for the wedding party to occupy Thursday to Monday of wedding weekend.Hope to have better exercise to report tomorrow.....

LB my friend and I are going to do a trade off tomorrow, I'm going to do a fashion show for her and then she'll help me decide what stays and what goes, then I'm going to help her eBay for Peppa Pig stuff for the granddaughter. Sweet my next door neighbor had a bench installed and it was dedicated at the beach there yesterday, you may have passed her by and not even noticed. Badger with your crazy driving schedule you deserve a lay in.
I went to Body Pump and Sh'jam this morning, it was mostly Body Jam with just a couple of Sh'bam tracks thrown in as our instructor is presenting on stage in Sweden next weekend so she tested out the routine on us, it was a fun class.

Good 1 hr ride of 12 miles, so glad I got it in early so I could finish a book and start a sewing project.

Sweet, my wedding anniversary is June 11....so I will always remember when your DS's is!
The YMCA is closed today so walked for an hour with a fast friend (fast walking, that is
), and did a 30 FIRM Rock Solid Abs DVD. I should be done with my picture project by tomorrow.0 -
I didn't exercise yesterday. I was dragging after two days of long walks so I took a break and cleaned/reorganized my closet instead! I had bought a nice skirt at the beginning of summer and had one top to wear with it. I wore it once and lost the top for the rest of the summer. I finally found it in my closet and decided now is the time to reorganize. This is the third time I've reorganized in 7 years. Hopefully this arrangement will work out better. I feel like I really got something accomplished although I can spend every weekend reorganizing some closet or room or drawer for a long, long time. Maybe that will be my winter Saturday project! I think Ruth's project is more fun!
Wonderland I sure love those mountains. What a treat to see the picture.
Today my son and I walked 52 minutes. I walked in and lunch/dinner had 1 minute to go. How's that for timing? So I ate a nice healthy meal of roasted chicken, squash and salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and onion. I'm going to try 3 or 4 weeks of low carb and see if I can get off 5 more lbs before I buy new fall clothes. I've been eating healthy overall, but my weights been very stable this summer, so I thought I'd see if I could get down a bit before I invest in new pants.

badger-I did the same as you. Woke early. Went back to sleep till 8.
Then I ran for 52 minutes (very hot and muggy here), floated in the pool and went to a Sarah Evans concert at our local fair. I had no idea who she was but she put on a great concert.

Cheryl, better feast than famine when finding dresses for occasions. Glad you were able to find several and that your friend will help you pick which one to keep. Looks like everyone had a good holiday weekend. Ginger, I love Sarah Evans and am glad you had a good time at the concert. Badger, we all need to hit the snooze button every now and then.

Exercise for me today was more fun in the pool as we had perfect pool weather here. Wster jogged, swam laps and leisurely swam in between bouts of relaxing with a good book. So sad that the pool season will be coming to a close in a few weeks as I really enjoy the exercise and relaxation of it. Then went to dinner with our youngest son and his girlfriend and undid most the exercise......lol

So just went to the beach yesterday, walked the boardwalk and then sat and listened to a Christian concert/message. Serious runny nose and sneezing yesterday and a little today so took it easy today with just a short walk. Think I may be allergic to one of the teas I bought since seems the sneezing starts when I'm near it - weird. Still haven't done the massage; maybe one evening after work.
Night my sculpted friends.

I did get in that nap mentioned earlier and it was like trying to drag myself out of a coma to wake up......sheesh! After I got my wits about me I dug in with more of the walk from room to room picking up and putting away items left in the chaos after Tropical Storm Michelle (DD) left town.....lol! Also sweated to the oldies in the very humid garage packing up the last of the garage sale items for donation. Then spent a bunch of time in the basement doing more Tropical Storm Michelle cleanup (which included a lot of up and down the stairs). So, no targeted workout (again) but nearly 12,000 steps for the day.
Ruth - you probably mentioned your anniversary date when we were in California but I don't remember it (thanks Arimidex!). Now that I have DS's wedding date memorized I'll be able to remember you too
.Back to work tomorrow after over a week off - blech. Can't afford it yet but I'm beginning to think I could get used to retirement pretty easily.....

TwoHobbies, I've always admired how you stick to what you say (fasting comes to mind) and those 5lbs will be gone and new trousers! (if I say 'pants' here they think I'm talking underwear, lol) We are due to get a blast of warm weather front and fingers crossed, warm and clear for Saturday run. Good to read everyone enjoyed the day off yesterday.
Body balance this morning at the gym now off to last minute school shopping (with grumpy - do I have to go, he said) and tonight yoga with hopefully changed mood boy.

I finished up my photo project last night. Instead of doing a Shutterfly book, I bought some little 4x6 size albums grammas put in their purses & put the (24 different panels in them) pictures in them. On each grouping I put an appropriate song of the 1970s title (such as 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun', 'Summer Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine' etc.) So I think they will be so fun for everyone to look through & reminisce about. I am copying over the first page of the booklet so that you can see what I mean.
Did Step It Up this morning, came home to 30 minutes of pilates, subbed this afternoon (which was really fun....I really do miss kids when I haven't been around them for awhile), and I am off to a volleyball game tonight. All fun stuff!!

Hot and humid. Too humid to even take a walk so came here to motivate myself to get on the treadmill. Thanks Voices!
