Mary, good for your DH! Ruth have a terrific trip and Claire, have a fun weekend. Teacher, I wear purple Brooks - perfect! S&S come on over and lots of history you would enjoy here in Kent.
Power step with hand weights and body balance at the gym this morning.

Took off in the middle if the day to go to Body Combat with the wonderful Eduardo and as usual got my butt kicked so much so that when I finally got home from work tonight I had a 2 hour nap as I was so exhausted. Now I'm in the middle of spring cleaning as I have a friend arriving from Australia early Sunday morning. Have a fun picnic Claire. Enjoy the weekend with your family Ruth. Mary I feel so sorry for your DH you would think there would be something they could come up with to 'push things along'

Had a safe drive; it is beautiful here, so last night we took a long walk, ending up on the deck of a restaurant down by the river, this required going down, and then back up, a 154 step staircase, and another staircase too. San Francisco hills in Minnesota

Yes it's a gorgeous weekend in the upper Midwest! Cool nights and sunny days in the 70's. Did my 4-mile walk this morning and never-cold me had to break out a jacket. It was 50-something (same as my age LOL).
Ruth, I love Minneapolis. That was our first Sculpted Sisters vacation and I have such fond memories of the people and places.
Cheryl & Patoo, happy happy joy joy ~ you get to meet up!
Mary, thinking good thoughts for M, hope relief comes soon.
Headed to a Brewers game this afternoon. It's not BobbleHank day, that's next Sat, but my baseball-loving friends were all busy. Considered it briefly, but decided it wasn't feasible to buy one ticket (which have gone up in price this year) and travel all the way to Milwaukee for a toy, albeit a really cute one.
Have a great weekend everyone. ♥ to all

I think Minneapolis is terrific too. Enjoy the ballgame Badger.
Ran the village 10k fun run this morning. In the middle was the mother of cheeky
hills. Ran up it (slower and slower of course til the top, then felt like spewing and recovered) and never walked once.
Was hoping to get below 1:06 and nope, did 1:08:16. Oh well, it was a
beautiful run and some on a dirt walking path of the original Pilgrim's
Way (an ancient track between Winchester and Canterbury).Have a super Saturday!

ruth - I'm dining at a nice restaurant on a river tonight myself! Going out with friends for a tag team anniversary dinner. Ours was Aug 21, their's i Sept 9.
Was up a bit early for Saturday today so put on my running shoes and did my 3.25 mile route. Walked 10 minute warmup then ran 3, w3, r3, w3, r3, w3, r6, w10 for 44 total minutes. Spent about an hour with my new power edger, broom, dustpan and leaf blower cleaning up widewalks, driveways and curb. Then about a half hour of power washing a really nasty green/black sidewalk (north side of a building). Currently at 18,500 steps so I'm sure I'll have a 20,000+ step day today - YAY!
cheryl - any effect for you from that nasty hurricane?
badger/ruth - keep that beautiful weather coming our way. It's been great here (when it's not storming). We've dodged most of the bad weather in my town.
Mary - your poor DH! Hope this ends soon both for his sake and yours!
I'm pooped and stiffening up after all the activity today. Need to stretch and take a nice hot shower to clean up for dinner tonight.
In case I don't check in later - love to all and nighty, nighty, sleep tighty!

We had a storm here yesterday, so I didn't get in any exercise yesterday. oday we got the beautiful weather my-slightly-to-the-north midwest sisters mentioned. Blue sky, wispy clouds, 73 and the cicadas are humming so LOUD. I could take 8 months of this, 3 months of 82 (for swimming and beaching) and 1 month of snow. I don't think that exists. Anyway, back to exercise. I originally planned to run intervals but I was phone and watchless so rather than try to count to myself I just walked. 1 hour around the lake and then when I got home I went another 20 minutes with my son and dog. Then to the grocery store. I imagine I'll pay for this later.
Good to see everyone out enjoying the nice weather. We have to store it up before winter!
Mary, I sure hope your husbands stone resolves soon. Goodness I would hate to go through that for so long!
Lilac an hour of running is quite an accomplishment whether you do it 2 minutes faster. I'm not sure I know what "cheeky" means. Maybe you can explain. I used to read my son the Thomas the train books and they talking about cheeky fellows and I was never exactly sure what that meant! Those brits, they wear trousers, go on holiday instead of vacation, and don't know a chip when they see one!

(((TwoHobbies))) I'll buy into your 8.3.1 season cycle! Can so relate to having a young Thomas obsessed son and collecting all for the wooden train set about broke the bank. Cheeky is what the race organizers used to define the hill climb at the 5k point. I think they meant to say, a rude, cunning twist in the middle of a essentially flat run. We were also told to watch out for tractors!
Taking a rest day and slowly moving into this day with not much planned after a particularly
hectic week. I feel ok after the run yesterday so perhaps later a long
woods walk with our dog.Have a fun Sunday everyone!

Busy day yesterday, tons of walking. Will post some pictures when I get home. The baseball gods must like Mary's MIL better than us, because although we were ahead 5-3 at one point, the Angels came back and won 8-5. Oh well, a perfect night for baseball

54 minute walk/run after church this morning. Beautiful weather but still wish I had gotten up early and done it before it was so warm. 10 minute walk followed by 5 segments each of 3 minute run/3 minute walk, then walked the remainder. Guess that works our to 39 minutes walking, 15 running. Some day I hope to get to the point where that ratio is reversed!

Had the most wonderful day yesterday hiking with my new guy. Amazing sights as we did the Naches Peak Loop, followed by a swim. I just ordered trekking poles as agree after using one of his that they make all the difference. This gives you a flavor of the hike starting out. This is a view from the Pacific Crest Trail.
A tarn against the same backdrop.
We had a picnic lunch overlooking Dewey Lake. Now we are planning an overnight there for next year. Lovely to dream, but you will see the need for serious trekking poles.
Post lunch and ready to move on.
To see this view of Mount Rainier.
Finally, some last mountain lupines in the shade.
And a bracing swim in the Cowlitz River along the roadway heading back. He was super impressed that I was game for it.
One of the most fun days of my entire life. We both appreciated the dinner I had made. Not sore today, which is amazing considering that I haven't done any hiking to speak of all season. - Claire

Wow Claire, that was some day! Awesome! And easy on they eye, your guy ;-) That overnight stay next year should be one of your goals, I believe you will make it and many more years! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful pictures, Claire, and a beautiful couple! Lovely scenery.
Lilac, I spent mucho money on those trains and had a train-obsessed son. He could tell you everything about a train. Oh my that brings back the memories. I still have his Thomas trains. I don't know if a grandson might want them one day, but I hated to get rid of them having invested so much!
45 minute bike ride today around a different lake with one cheeky hill but oh what fun to go down the other side!

Lilac and TwoHobbies I have a 3 year old grandson and he's already started his collection of Thomas-like trains ( I get the cheaper kind at Ikea) He's a little behind in language skills so having him repeat the "chu-chu" sound is music to our ears! May this trend continue!

Aurora how sweet. Yes I can imagine what a treat it is to hear that. Soon he'll be saying more!
Jumped back on to add that I just did some upper body weights too.

I didn't say anything about exercise because I haven't done a thing since Tuesday, I missed my livestrong class thursday due to transportation issues but that's just an excuse, the elliptical at home misses me. :-(

Hi all. Lots of walking yesterday and today after church but noway can I match up to S&S - Wow, 20,000 steps in one day!!
Yes, badger, looking forward to having Cheryl visit. Better part of it is since the house is listed for sale, her room and the rest of the house, is already clean, decluttered, so just awaits her presence. YAY.
Claire, great pictures. ruth, I agree with badger that our first trip to Minneapolis will always be a special memory. So glad we are keeping up the annual trips. Mary, hope DH passes that stone soon.
Think I will go pick up my 'paper'weights and let them do their real purpose - help me to tone some.
Night my sculpted friends.

Beautiful pics Claire. No Thomas for me but I can't tell you how many hours I spent looking for the Silver Surfer from X-Men for my godson who is now a grown man with kids of his own. Woohooo LB great job on your run, and good job keeping your breakfast down
many many many years ago I saw the Magna Carta at Winchester Cathedral. Sweet we're just experiencing hot hot hot humid weather from the hurricane, I am sitting in front of the fan and I need to go water the garden and do some pruning but bleah it's too hot.Did 45 minutes of Body Combat this morning, had to bug out early as I had to go up to LAX and pick up a friend arriving from Australia.

Great scenery!! and way to impress, Claire!!!
4-hour bike ride with DD and DH.

Claire, sounded like a really fun day and lovely photos. Heidihill, that was a long ride. Auroaya, same with our son regarding delayed speech as it was french outside the house and english at home. He had english speech therapy at two an a half and by three and a half, he had caught up; it does change. TwoHobbies, I copy you on down hill being the best. Cheryl, you are quite the host and Silver Surfer is cool. Winchester is so interesting.
Had ego deflation at depth when I viewed my time online. Out of 104 runners, I was number 96 - HA! . knew I was one of a few in the last batch and not realized how last - good grief (mental note to self - must use Mary's training method to run faster). I get in a weird head space when starting 5 or 10k registered run (never on my regular runs on my own). It's always been like that. When I start out, I'm really nervous and then my mind (what I call the "committee" in my head) actually tells me I can stop running, walk or like Saturday, I could take a right instead of a left and run home. What!? It's after about 3k that I get settled - in the groove and that stupid, undermining chatter stops.
Off to run a 5k (it's mid-morning) and tonight, hit the gym for for power step.
Have a good start to the week everyone!

Thomas trains are the best!! I had a little sweet boy, Francis, in Kindergarten who loved them! He had some trouble socializing!! But sharing those trains with others helped him so much!! Hoping to pass this legacy on to my grandchildren!! Just walked an hour!! Have a great day!!!

Great pix, Claire! Ruth - sorry about my MIL's Angels beating your Twins - I told you she was little but she was mighty!
But know you had a good time anyway! Lilac - I'm just the opposite - my race times are usually 60-90 seconds per mile faster than my training runs - I get a burst of adrenaline from the excitement, I guess. Not that I'm fast - even my race times tend to be a 12:30 minutes per mile pace. My goal after this running clinic is to run at least one race at a sub-12! (I just ran a calculator - a 12:30 per mile translates to a sub-8 minutes per kilometer - I like that one better!)Hubby FINALLY passed the stone last night - hooray! Now we can get back to our lives. Whew. The urologist's office will test it to see what it's made of so that will help them recommend a plan to reduce the risk of this happening again.
4 mile run Sunday and yoga DVD this morning.

Mary, congratulations on you DH "giving birth". Now you can resume your daily activities and focus on your own health. sub-8 per kilometer sounds like quite an accomplishment. Me, I am just hoping tomorrow I will go to the YMCA and resume my livestrong training program.

Great news about your hubby, Mary!!! Hope it was not too painful to pass!! When I had the surgery in 2000 to get rid of the stone, I was hoping I would never have another one so large again!! And I have not!! Here's hoping he never has another one again! They did tell me to to stay away from antacids and drink a gallon of water a day!

Aurora when I couldn't face exercising I would promise I'd go 10 minutes and then stop. Somehow once I got past 10 then I almost always felt better and continued.
Heidi that was a long bike ride. Gee, you and Claire must have some special seats or better bike than mine. My backside hurts after a 45 minute ride yesterday.
Mary glad to hear your husband got rid of Rocky/Crystal!
Walked 35 minutes tonight.

Awesome pics Claire.Today I did some light ab work and planks (due to TE's causing minor back aches; maybe their too big). Anyhow the ab/back work really helps. Also did a 45 minute walk. I feel much better today and hope to feel even better going forward until my next session.

On bicycle seats: padded shorts are not an affectation, but essential for surviving anything over an hour or so. They don't come cheap, and I have worn out yet another pair of Assos Lady. So I will be ponying up cash prior to next cycling season.
OUCH.....I felt today like I had been hit by a ton of bricks. Abs hurt from the swim and entire body is sore from the hike. Even worse as I am doing data entry hence no adrenalin to dull the pain.
My next butt-kicking is next Sunday when I do the 60 miles of Cycle the Wave. After that, the Wine Country Trek should be a snap.
Easy 2 mile walk planned for tonight....plus weights. That's it. - Claire

Voices (and loseit.com) got me on the treadmill for 30 mins and even did a faster clip so consistency does help increase endurance. Still a little over my calorie allotment today so will go upstairs and jog in place for a bit while watching TV (Shark Tank on every night this week - YAY!)
Mary, tell DH congrats on his delivery.
Night sculpted friends.

Catching up from the weekend. Great photos Claire. He's a cutie!
Mary, congrats on the new addition Rocky/Crystal. Hope now you can get back to sleeping at night...LOL
Switched up my schedule this week by going to bootcamp tonight since my workout buddy has a church meeting tomorrow night.
Sweet dreams my sculpted sisters.

Glad to hear the stone passed Mary!
Almost too pooped to peep. No exercise today. Full work day then an hour drive for a professional organization chapter dinner. Great speaker and delicious dinner, but then another hour drive home, fill the company car back up, then back to the office, up the stairs two floors to drop of the car folder and keys then FINALLY get back in my car and home. Please girls......if I EVER indicate I'm thinking of buying one of the newer body style Ford Escapes, shoot me!!! That was the first time I've driven one and it was sooooo uncomfortable I couldn't believe it. My neck and shoulders are just screaming right now!
Time for bedtime pills (plus ibuprofen tonight!). Nighty-nighty, sleep tighty!
