Good to know the baby has been borned Mary, I'm sure you DH is one happy man!!! IClaire the worst thing about when you hurt and you're stuck sitting at your desk is when you get up you find your joints have seized up. Glad you're feeling better Red.
This morning did Sh'bam and tonight it was an hour of Spin, I need to get myself one of those padded seats as that saddle was very tough on my keister tonight.
0 -
Good thing I'm not a bicycle rider - my natural seat is padded enough - I can't imagine how it would look with additional padding!!
Seriously, I do know they are essential for serious riders but I find the thought of donning them myself horrifying! Thanks for the well wishes on hubby's "blessed event" - he's pretty much back to normal. Kindergarten - yes, he's learned his lesson - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Patoo - I love Shark Tank! Some of the people are so prepared, while others don't have a clue it seems.
Spent a few hours Sunday and another hour last night scraping paint off the pool coping - it's painted metal and the paint is peeling, so we have to get that looking better before putting the house on the market next spring. It's a tough work, but a great upper body work out. We're almost done with getting the old paint off so we can apply the new paint.
Slept in this morning, as our running clinic track workout is tonight - they've scheduled 4 miles - first mile warm up, next two miles interval running (yuk!!!) and the 4th mile cool down. I HATE intervals and just can't force myself to to them, which is one of the main reasons we registered for the running clinic - I know they'll force me to do all kinds of stuff that's good for me. I wonder if they have a broccoli clinic somewhere - I can't force myself to eat that stuff.

First cataract surgery this morning so no exercise today. I rock the pirate look though!

Hi everyone, I am home safe & sound. I will have to go backwards to read everyone's posts. We had lots of fun on our family reunion weekend. My brother lives in Stillwater, Minnesota, which is a beautiful city on the St. Croix River, which divides Minnesota and Wisconsin. Lots of hills, trees, Victorian houses, fun shops & restaurants right on the river. We did lots of walking around there & also had fun wandering downtown St. Paul & Minneapolis...plus all the walking around at the Twins game. Other fun things were a wonderful family reunion with my mom's side of the family and lunch on a riverboat yesterday. I will post a few pictures below. We had perfect weather, but got out of there just in time because it is cold, wet, and rainy today. I have a meeting tonight but will try to get in some DVD pilates after that.
Here is one of the many Victorian houses in town....just fun to walk around looking at them!
To get downtown by the river, you go down several levels of stairs. When you get there, you can have outside seating at a restaurant and have this view:

My sister, SIL, and I at the Sculpture Gardens in Minneapolis, Loring Park (patoo, Cheryl, and badger.....that is that is the park where we walked on our first annual get together....the one with the crazy squirrels), Rod Carew and me at the Twins game.

Very nice ruth.
30 mins again on treadmill. Will go make a quick veggie stir-fry before it gets too late.
Night my sculpted friends.

Great pictures Ruth. Looks like you had a good time.
Completed 30 minutes on the Elliptical tonight before succumbing to the couch with a gall bladder attack. One of these days, I am going to break down and get rid of it.
Night all.

Love the pics Ruth. Mary, Rocky/Crystal?? I'm not sure who wrote that, but it is hilarious. Glad your DH is feeling better.
Well I have missed so much that I really can't read back. Between some illness, extra long hours at work and my hubby's birthday, I haven't had a lot of time for anything. I have been rather lax about my exercise (unless unpacking and finding homes for all my mom's stuff counts) although I've been walking the dog daily and been golfing a couple times. The day of my DH's Bday, I did almost 16,000 steps without ever leaving the house! That's an all time high for me. My membership with WellFit finally ran out and it took me a couple of weeks to sign up with the gym I was interested in. But I did it!
So tomorrow I have my appointment with my trainer and I am keeping my fingers crossed that she is knowledgeable, considerate and kind. I will let you know. I hope that the voices return soon, since I'm in need of the boost.
For his Bday my DH got a hot air balloon ride, which we went on yesterday. We loved it, and my DH is deathly afraid of heights! He said it isn't the same at all - not like being up on the ladder, roof, edge of a cliff, etc. This is our balloon, I'll get one of us posted soon.

beautiful pix ruth. Good girl on the veggie stir-fry Patoo. Odie, I've had a couple gall bladder pains in the past - hope you feel better. Mary - I'm not really even sure what intervals are but I don't think I like them either....lol! Take it each Teacher - take care of that eyeball!
'Interesting' 52 minute walk/run tonight. 10 minute warm-up walk, 5 minute run, 3 minute walk, brief moment of realization that I was gonna be 'prairie-dogging' it and hoping I could make it, 4 minute run, 17 minute walk to Wesco's restroom (gas station/quick mart) after admitting to self that I absolutely must make a detour , huge sigh of relief
, 5 minute run, 1 minute walk, 2 minute run, 5 minute walk to home. Good news is that overall I managed one more minute of total running time than normal
. Gads.Edited to add: I hate when that happens!!!!!!!

Beautiful pics ruth and red I would love to go on a hot air balloon ride someday! Today I went to my livestrong training and did an hour of light weight strength exercise, cardio and stretching and then did 25 min in the machines (10 in stepper, 10 in bicycle and 5 in threadmill) but once again I went to eat at a "junk" food place. It's just that by the time my daughter picks me up (class is from 5:30-6:30 pm) it's too late to cook dinner and my daugther is too busy to do it during the day.
Any way, better some than nothing.

Sorry for the delay, the dog was quite insistent that it was walk time. Here is the promised pic of myself in the balloon - see our shadow on the ground?

Fabulous pic Red, what an exciting birthday gift and hope you like your new trainer. Odie hope you feel better. Ruth I have loved all the Stillwater pics, it sure looks like it's a beautiful town. LOL Sweet, don't you just hate when that happens

Did Zumba class tonight, after class my friends twin daughters who are 16 came up and told me that I had 'moves'

I second you Cheryl on a super photo Red! Ruth you sure do enjoy retirement and lovely family and St. Croix looks super. Teacher, hope you have a quick eye recovery.
Forgot to post body balance and yoga class x2 last night, too tired when we got home at 9:30pm. I'm off to the gym for power step and then body balance afterwards. Indian summer here and a stunning, sunny morning.

Great photo, but I love the hat even more, Red! Lovely family pics, Ruth. Odie, hope Rockies/Crystals in your gall bladder calm down soon. Hope the eye is feeling better, Teacher.
Rides get longer when a co-rider (DD) starts to slow down. She loves uphills because I give her my electric bike and I take hers. This is our form of interval training. We both have well-padded shorts.
Just did errands on my bike yesterday. Auroaya and LB, I will definitely take your cues and go to the gym today.
0 -
Thanks, Claire for the advice on the shorts and brand. I have a gel seat cover but it is not enough so I'll invest in a pair and maybe I can ride more frequently, which I love. Mary my seat is naturally padded too but it does not help!
Beautiful pictures, Ruth and Red. I'd love to go up in a balloon too. It seems it would be very peaceful.
Teacher I hope the cataract surgery went well. Odie, gallbladders are miserable too. My husband had his out 10 days before our wedding. I was worried we'd miss our honeymoon but we made it.
Aurora that's my problem when I exercise. I get really hungry and sometimes I manage to eat healthy food and some times I lose all sense at a Mexican restaurant (my favorite indulgence). But I tell myself its better to have exercised than not.
Rain rain rain today so I may not get any exercise today but I did mow the lawn 40 minutes and walked the dog 15 yesterday.

Had cataract surgery yesterday and was told this morning, no exercise til next Tuesday. My muscles will protest then!

I went to the gym this morning!! Rode the stationary bike and elyptical!!! Going to help with my DIL's in home daycare this afternoon!! Bending and lifting, he,he,he!!! I think my butt is getting a tad smaller!!!
Have a great day, everyone!! All your great workouts are an inspiration to me!!

Ruth - looks like a wonderful trip. You and Rod Carew rock!! Odie - gall bladder - ouch!! But I certainly can understand the reluctance to undergo surgery - I think we've all had more than enough of that. Red - riding in a hot air balloon is on my bucket list - was it wonderful??? Teacher - hang in there with the cataract post-surgery restrictions. There'll be time enough to exercise, and just think of how much more you'll see when you're out and about!
Well, as I suspected, the running clinic last night was brutal with the interval running - it was supposed to be 4 miles, but since I'm in one of the slower groups, we hug the outside of the track, so I ended up doing closer to 4.5 miles. I was truly beat afterwards but it was exactly the kind of running work I need. Half hour of yin yoga this morning plus some much needed lower body work with the foam roller.

Great pictures, Claire & Red. Very fun times!
Mary, glad the kidney stone is history! Odie, hope the gallbladder stuff settles down. Yuck! Sending quick healing thoughts to you teacher.
I am having a busy day. The Wednesday Walkers went out into the COLD, damp morning air (which made us walk very briskly). Then I was off to school to sub for a teacher who had gotten sick. (It was freezing cold there too!!! They won't turn on the heat yet, no matter what the thermostat says.) Now I have Zumba & then Book Club, so it is true that there is no rest for the wicked!

hello sculpted sisters. I have been so busy with back to school stuff that i cannot believe I have not logged on for 9 days. I tried to catch up but that was a lot of posts. I am happy to say that the voices have been with me as i have been running or biking just about everyday and I have gotten a few swims in at the lake but I think there will not be many more of those days. It is definitely cooling off a bit. I am up to running 4 miles or biking 14 miles.
The big joke has been that after a very comfortable August, it has been so hot and humid that we are melting in our classrooms.
0 -
That is how it always goes!!! And in the spring you melt, but the moment school lets out for summer....it turns cold and rains for a month!
0 -
Did Sh'bam this morning and a Spin class tonight. I said it on FB and I'll say it here, I want to wear something with long sleeves and be rained upon I am so sick of this heat, hit me over the head in a month or two when I'm complaining about the cold but this heat we are experiencing is so oppressive, bleah!

Nothing for me yesterday except normal daily stuff. DH left early yesterday morning for 2 weeks hunting in Colorado and I had planned on a walk/run or maybe the gym after work since my schedule is my own for several days. However, a couple of co-workers invited me to dinner & drinks at the pub for a small-group therapy session. Apparently the voices can't be heard in a pub
. I'll get out there and do something tonight for sure.Cheryl - you would love, love, love our weather this morning! Just under 50 degrees right now, cloudy and a very light misty rain. Just enough to dampen the parking lot pavement but stay dry under all the cars. And here I am wishing we could extend the summer heat another month because I missed so much of early summer not feeling well this year! I'd offer to switch lives for a month but I don't think I could handle your schedule!

Body balance, pink pilates, ingvnar yoga and back to the gym for yoga. Feeling well twisted, flexed and meditated.

Ginger - so good to see you! Ruth - you guys look so autumn-y already. Sweet - I think the voices can't be heard in a Mexican restaurant either!
LB - sounds like you had an all around day - I bet you sleep well tonight!Three mile run this morning per the training schedule. The running clinic must be helping - normally my last mile is my slowest, but today it was my fastest (speed being a relative concept for this tortoise!) and I could have even gone a bit more if I'd needed to. Had to get out before dawn as the heat and humidity are back. It's supposed to break tonight with t-storms - I'm ready for some cooler weather like Cheryl is!

Come out here and you will get burrrrrr cool!
Did my Step/Dance class & 30 minutes of abs.....I've been house cleaning ever since....blah!
0 -
Hi all. Took yesterday off but the voices said NO to 2 days so did my 30 mins on treadmill and even had more than a couple of 1 min 'runs'. Think I'm doing my own couch-to-5K on the 5 year schedule.

House cleaning - Oh, such a bad word (or 2 bad words!)
Night sculpted friends.

hi all - GREAT pix everyone! Mary you go girl and ((hugs)) to DH.
Got the "Be Brave" t-shirt, Ruth, and I love it. Thank you so much!
LB, can you substitute our Voices for that committee in your head?
patoo, make sure yr windows are clean, Cheryl's big on that LOL.
Mom says hi back everyone, saw her Weds for lunch. Brought to share leftover manicotti from date night (Tues) and made her day.
Have walked most every day, logged 10 miles since last post. Time soon for long johns, in the 40's tonight and 30's tomorrow night. YES I turned on the heat. ♥

Appreciate the commisserating on the gallbladder issues. Luckily, my attacks are not too frequent but they are vicious. As much as I hate to have another surgery, looks like I should seriously consider it.
Yesterday's exercise was a nice walk to ease back into things. Back to bootcamp tonight.
