mel, at my YMCA the livestrong classes run in two shifts one at 12:30 noon and the other (the one I go to) at 5:30 pm so check with your Y and maybe they have something in the evening after work. If they don't you can suggest they open one at that time and try to get other people to join.

Hi there. Ginger sorry about your F-I-L, hope you and your hubby are doing okay.

Welcome to Ann, Mel and Auroaya. It's been a while since I've been able to post regularly so I haven't had a chance to greet you yet. Hope you all begin hearing the voices loud and clear, some days it was the only thing that kept me exercising.

Yesterday I spent most of the day in the kitchen doing down salsa, chili sauce and spaghetti sauce base. Only 8200 steps and no nighttime walk because I was bushed.

Today was better, played 18 holes with my DH, finished up the sauces, went to my gd's birthday party, and am now sitting on my kiester typing on the computer. 14,050 steps so far today.

    Have a lovely evening.

    Welcome Ann and LAROCK.

Lilacblue, love tulips and lillies. Need to get out and work on my front flower beds soon.

Today was my rest day however had to catch up on some chores. Finished closing the pool, did some laundry and took a nice walk.

thanks everyone. It was a rough weekend but my father-in-law passed away this afternoon and is no longer suffering. His lung cancer had spread everywhere! We will miss him but he is much better off.

I did get in a 4.6 mile run this morning and found some running gear on clearance in kohl's so I am more prepared for cooler weather.

Wish I was allowed to vaccuum! There is a layer of black dog hair on my carpet.

Walked 5 miles last night, going to attempt week 2 of Couch to 5k today.

Ginger, very sorry for your loss.

Anyone diagnosed with BC needs to treat themselves to an iRobot Roomba vacuum! Best purchase ever, particularly for those of us with large, shedding dogs. Mine is currently sharing my pillow with me, trying to talk me into a run. Unfortunately, I've been awake since 2 am and don't feel up to it at this time. Hopefully I can get a walk in later, in between meetings and perhaps a nap.

Just catching up after my weekend adventure. I am so sorry Ginger about your FIL. I lost my mother that way, and fortunately she went sooner rather than later.

I am definitely feeling the two 50 mile rides each day, and especially yesterday which had rolling hills with the "up" direction going into a headwind. I had to walk two short sections. Fortunately, a tail wind for the last 10 miles or so. Just the most glorious country, and will post pictures later. Yesterday was a real banner day for activity as drove back 4 hours after doing the 50 miles. I took the longer route via Chinook Pass as I have never driven the entire road and it's only open 3-4 months of the year. When I saw the drops down to the valley below, I understood why no attempts to keep open. It may have been the shorter time-wise depending on traffic back via I-90.

Bed was very welcome after two days sleeping in a tent, but that was great fun. So was all the wine tasting, but I did less as opposed to more. There was no shortage of opportunities.

Before last year, I wouldn't have been fit enough to do yesterday's ride, so very proud of myself that way. This includes my 20s. Saturday's was just amazingly beautiful as we set off westward as we could see both Mt Adams and Mt Rainier in the distance, although more than 50 miles away. Yesterday, we had amazing views of the Yakima River as we took the highway back. Earlier, cycling past vineyards, hop fields, all sorts of dairy and beef cattle, and various crops.

The most fun will be saying when someone mentions something about the wine coming from, say the Wahluke Slope, being able to boast "I've cycled there".

Off to do my crunches routine and get dressed for work. I think I will do a couple more long rides this season, but no more events. I don't want to drive any long distances for a while either. About 800 miles in 8 days is enough. - Claire

LA - we have mostly wood floors and a few years ago we invested in the Roomba floor cleaner.  At the time we had two ancient dogs who were getting incontinent, so we ran that thing practically daily.  They're wonderful. Claire - congrats on the good ride.  For the newbies - yes, the Voices are a powerful force!!!  Happy

Had a great day at the Nats game yesterday - the Nats pitcher threw a no hitter!!  For those who aren't baseball fans, it means that the pitcher was so good that not a single batter on the other team got a hit.  No hitters are pretty rare - only a few happen a season, so seeing a no hitter in person is an amazing thing for a fan.  I've never seen one before and it was an incredible experience.  Talk about calories - I must have burned a million calories jumping around and screaming when he did it!  (OK, maybe not a million, but I did manage over 15,000 steps yesterday!)   Badger - sorry your Brewers couldn't pull it out, but even when your team loses, a day at the ballpark is always a good day.

    Pilates this morning.

Ginger, I am adding my heart felt condolences. I lost my FIL in 2008 due to out of control lung cancer so I understand. Cyber hugs to you and your hubby.

Claire, your weekend sounds amazing. Can't wait to see pictures.

Good day yesterday in baseball, bad day in football...LOL

Exercise today was a 35 minute walk/run this evening plus weights.

Ginger I am so sorry for your loss.

Today would have been the 80th birthday of a dear friend of mine who I had not seen for many years and who passed away several years back so I did a 3 mile walk to local lake (and a little jogging) and sat and watched the young sailors finishing up for the day. My friend loved sailing and would have enjoyed watching and chatting to them.

This morning I had 30 minutes of what I suppose would be some sort of cross or circuit training with a personal trainer. I have 2 more sessions left. Its a mixture of weights and cardio.

Yesterday I did a 5k on the treadmill again. I just missed making 42 mins. I must have been a funny sight, huffing and puffing at the end!! Thought I would blow a gasket LOL

Can't face the scales though. I think I have likely gained another pound or two...

Great job getting out there today everyone! The fatigue really set in for me and the most I could manage was a mile walk with my dog.

GInger, sorry for your loss.  ((hugs))

Welcome Ann, this is a great group: supportive, encouraging & motivating.

Mary, so happy for your team!  Yes the Brewers lost but as you said, any day at the ballpark is a good day.  The Jumbotron showed the Nats piling on the pitcher (who's a WI native, we have to take our comfort somewhere LOL) at the end of the game. There was an article in the paper that described how the crowd roared with each pitch.  I smiled as I pictured you & M in Nats Park with ear-to-ear grins, hooting & hollering along with thousands of happy fans.

Walked after supper last night.  Took today off work to drive DH to an appt.  Will walk later, once he settles in and sleeps.  We won't go out tonight so someone have a margarita for me! ♥ to all
