Odie, son had mucho homework last night so I went solo. I'd swim regularly if I didn't pay so much for monthly tint and highlights.
Freestyle step and body balance at the gym this morning.

Woke up to pictures of the blood moon which we of course missed because of the fog. Amazing. Yesterday's talk went well and touched on my cancer in the context of the work I am doing well. I can see that I am rusty, but also a difficult subject to personally discuss in public. It didn't help that I started with the present, went back to how I got to Seattle and the work I am now doing. But I pulled it off and learned a lot from the experience. Much better than going the safe route.
Otherwise, a day of some, but not major exercise, a good dinner, and a long chat with my guy. We chat again on Friday as he is slammed with school work, elk hunting, and preparing for the Marine Corps Marathon. I need to focus more on my work too as not where I need to be at this point. Plus, I am organizing my NYC visit at the end of the month.
I had the greatest compliment on my hair when I got my hair cut last Saturday. They asked if this also included color. Well no, but this tells me that I do a good job with Feria. Cut is cute, but a bit shorter than I like. One thing that is guaranteed to fix itself in a couple of weeks. (Investing in good haircuts is one of the plusses of having gone through breast cancer. Some things are much better done by the professionals and it was time for my long hair to go.)
Hoping everyone has a great day! - Claire

Sorry about the game, Mary. I stayed up late to see how it would turn out.
Claire, agree about the good hair colors & cuts (although I am trying something slightly longer & not sure if I am liking it or not at the moment).
The Wednesday Women walked in the woods this morning. We didn't come across anyone to take our group picture....but here we are eating at a restaurant after our walk. The lady in the boa is the Birthday Girl. We, of course, love to celebrate exercise, food, and birthdays!

Tracy Anderson body sculpting class this morning, led by Tracy herself, here in Laguna Niguel. Not sure I'll be able to walk down the stairs later this morning!

Toned with Denise, will do Zumba tonight & be caught up from my day off!

Swam laps this morning. I'm starting to feel the soreness from yesterday's new strength training routine.

10/8- did another person training session today and we did all the muscle groups including upper body, abs, and legs. Still having challenges with the pecs from where they were cut to test the lymph nodes, but hope to get stronger there as we go along. My trainer keeps upping the weights as we go session to session/week to week.
I realized today just standing at the counter in my kitchen how much stronger I feel after a month of personal training. It felt huge!

Claire, I'd love to see your hair cut if you wan to post. One year past chemo, I'm always looking for cute cuts, ie what is my next step in this hair thing! Kudos to you for being able to talk about your personal experience. I'm not sure I would have the nerve because sometimes I can talk "matter of fact" and then sometimes it just gets me too emotional.
Mary I can so relate to the dieting with your husband. My husband freely admits he can lose weight if he just eats reasonable amounts. Me, I'll gain if I have one potato! Its not fair at all.
I walked 30 minutes yesterday evening with my son and 30 minutes at lunch today.

The Wednesday Walkers look like they are having a good time once again.
Ginger, such a beautiful walking path. I love all the trees.

Had a great workout. Sit-ups, leg lifts, lunges, farmer's carry, short jog, elliptical time, and lots of stretches. My trainer is working on upper body stretches so I get stronger and more flexible.

Hair is much as in my head shot, but a bit shorter. So a bob below the chin and best when just grazing the shoulders. Important that it's cut and shaped, no razor work. No bangs, as can't stand them. Worst part of having my hair grow out.
One thing I did at about the one year point was pick a picture of where I wanted to go with the hair. Not that I got quite there, but it worked as a guide for my then-stylist, Valentine. So we started to cut and shape with the end point in mind. It took about another year to really get there. Since then, my hair has filled out, and I am thrilled with the way it looks.
Now, I can get away with this look because I have very pronounced facial features. Not great on everyone. I need to look extremely professional these days which this look accomplishes.
I think I will head out for a quick run which I need to do sooner rather than later. Those miserable voices are calling, and I need to stay on track after that large lunch. Finally made headway work-wise with a couple more things to knock out. But I can do this as I make dinner.
Loving fall and the cooler weather. - Claire

One hour of LiveStrong class with lots of stretching. Loved it.

3 mile run after school. I was dragging after a bad night's sleep but I pushed through it.
Mary, I agree dieting with husbands is never a fair comparison. Hang in there.

Dieting when you have a Halloween candy is not easy either, yup I've already broken into it! Claire I'm with you on the data entry I've been doing it for the last couple of days and what I'm having to type off is horrible, the font size is about a 2 and there are 3 phone numbers and email addresses for each entry, I am officially cross eyed, sigh. LARock how exciting to be able to workout with her, hope you're not too sore in the aftermath. Welcome 2Tabbies. Ginger your walking path is gorgeous. Ruth you had a big walking group today. I had lunch with _Ann_ today, her frozen shoulder is slowly resolving itself and she is doing well it was lovely to get together with her.
Did Spin class tonight

Gonna be doing more winterizing today. Time to change out the curtains.

3 mile run this morning. Now that the days are getting shorter, my morning runs are pre-dawn. I invested in one of those little high intensity lights you can wear on your belt or headband and it really made a difference - not only could I see the sidewalk in front of me clearly, but cars and other pedestrians could see me as well. I've been wearing reflector cuffs for visibility, but the light worked much better.

Mary....good point on visibility and I urge everyone who walks/cycles/runs in anything other than full sunlight to make sure they can be seen this time of year. I know that I am grateful whenever those who cycle at night (and there are a lot in the "Bicycle Capital of the Northwest" to watch out for) amp up the wattage. So important to be highly visible and a lot of people are really hard to see if driving.
Things I have that help:
- Wrist bands that are yellow-green and give off a strobe light when activated. Very visible and great for evening walks. Not sure where you get these as were a freebee, and I took 2.
- A cycling jacket in the same color. It has reflective strips on it too. Often wear on my walks as it's semi waterproof and functions as a windbreaker.
- Lights....one on the front and a flashing rear light for my bicycle. Essential for even daylight here in the NW
Need to stock up on AAA batteries to up the wattage for winter cycling. I don't want to be fished out of the ditch because a distracted motorist didn't see me. - Claire

Got lucky and was able to get a quick 20 minutes on the Gazelle this morning!

Went to my exercise class. We had a sub who threw in some pilates, which made me happy because I really miss that class. I am now doing some 'Scrub & Sculpt'..... I am cleaning the house....yuck!

I definitely second what Mary and Claire say about visibility. I drive to work early and so many times I can barely see people walking, running or riding in the road.
Only 20 minutes today. So tired as I didn't sleep much last night - again. Ugh.

went to my YMCA/livestrong work out. On Thursdays we hit the machines I did the leg curls and the pectoral, I upped the weights from 10 lbs to 15 lbs from my last work out. I also did 25 min cardio on the nustep machine and the stationary bike and finished the work out with some much needed stretches. Feel vibrant and rejuvenated.

I switched and tried the treadmill tonight for 20 minutes instead of the stationary bike. I was aiming for 30 but was already tired at 20 so I decided I better stop. Am looking forward to getting in better shape!

Wow, everyone is doing great and getting stronger!!! Love it!
Yesterday, I did a 35 minute walk/run plus weights. Tonight I went to bootcamp. Calling for a rainy dreary weekend so I am planning to get some walking in while shopping as well as an extra circuit type workout .
Happy Friday ladies!

hi all, back after more than a week with no internet. They don't know what happened -- why it konked out or why it came back. How the heck does internet activity simply cease then start back up again, without anyone doing anything?
Anyway, I'm just back from walking @ indoor track. Am pages behind but will catch up tomorrow. TTYL ♥

NatsFan, I've spent years running before dawn and recommend you get a headlamp. They are very light weight and easy to wear, providing ample illumination of the ground.
I got a 2.5 mile run in after work today. It felt great after a day of too much sitting.
