I always got that for my Dad for Christmas, the Old Spice version. Smell that and I immediately think of Dad; smell Shalimar, think of Mom.

I miss my dad so much. He passed in 2005 and every time I see or smell these two fragrances I'm back with him.

Hi memory makers,
I have visited here often and enjoyed the posts and pix of so many things I grew up with.
Today I saw a German Shepherd which we used to call a "police dog" and I thought about the show Rin-Tin-Tin...how could so many people tune in to watch the adventures of a dog...but then there was Lassie...I was trying to explain to my grandkids what a Kewpie Doll was...I had a plastic one from a carnival...nothing like the original dolls, but it was a novelty. It probably came on a stick.

I miss waiting each week for a show to come on. A lot of times these shows brought people together physically. You had to be there and present to see a show. As a kid I recall waiting for The Brady Bunch and Partridge Family that played on Friday nights. No DVRs, No Videotapes, No Netflix or Hulu... just straight-up television. You missed it, you lose.

Such great memories. I remember being so excited to watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and all of the Christmas shows every year. I still love those shows, but in my opinion it's just not the same when you can watch them whenever you want. I miss the anticipation!!

Anticipation ! I think that is a skill (skill? trait? verb? what?) that people under the age of 30 or so have lots less experience with than those of us a wee bit older. I remember laying on my belly with my brother next to me and we would have the Sears wish book spread out in front of us. We would each mark on the pages what we wanted for Christmas in the toy section & then we'd switch sides & do it all again. Then the wait! I was always so happy I had a summer birthday because I got to have that the exciting feeling of waiting for the reveal of my presents twice a year.
With this being a "have it now" society, we have deleted that gene (?) somewhat out of our kids, unfortunately.
But today is a day I have anticipated for 5 years!!!!!! My last Femara tonight at bedtime! Can you say EXCITED!!!??!!???!!???!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!

And I remember waiting for Heidi to come on around Thanksgiving time. One year there was a huge ruckus 'cuz a football game was running over and the station cut away to run Heidi as scheduled, in the time that wasn't broadcast the score turned around and lots of exciting things happened, sports fans were hugely upset!

The first thing that popped into my head was Captain Kangaroo. lol I remember watching that show with Mr. Green Jeans, Moose, and Squirrel plus all the ping pong balls. Watched it every morning before catching the bus to school.
Or how about Romper Room. lol
Oh and reruns of The Little Rascals (the original series in black and white).
