I can't wait to have hair again. I still have a very thin amount actually that has grown a little since I buzzed it all back in September, and I think I spotted a very short dark hair this morning.

cassie - it is funny - once you get past that last chemo you will start "Hairwatch 2015" - we all do it - my husband and daughter kept trying to tell me I was growing some. The problem was that it was on the back of my head, which I really couldn't see well in the mirror!
linda - mine was much the same - some sort of weird, punkish, bird-like style, that required much gel to form into something I could wear out in public, lol! Hey, I was just excited it was there!

LOL! I think I've had "Hairwatch 2014" going for weeks already!

Hair watch 2014 LOL - love that.
I agree specialK - just glad I have some and it is fascinating to watch. My PS is amazed by what is is doing on top with the giant swirl. I told him it was my Marge Simpson - he said well it has got a way to go and it isn't Blue - very serious like then he cracked up.

Great picture linda. I don't think I used a hair dryer for a year or so after I lost my hair. Just wash and gel when it got long enough that I could ditch the wig. For me it was kind of pointless to dry my baby fine spikes
And for the hair watch, I made my DH take a picture about every 3 weeks so I could see that it actually WAS growing!0 -
nice Linda....love the funky look.. That was kinda like one of my thousand stages of the past 3 years:) Yours is better but it was actually a high point stage for me.
Good we're talking hair because I was gonna make you all very jealous by telling you that I actually have a hairstyle !!! Three years from dx!!! Well.. Had a hairstyle yesterday. Should have taken a picture .
Got some high lights because my hair was very, very dark dull brown and a cut with bangs!!!
The problem: cannot remember how to actually style my hair anymore... I'm all elbows
this morning it's bed head but I love it!!!Note to girls in treatment... I think I'm an outlier...most people don't have to wait this long to get back to the new normal of post chemo hair...

Love the hair Linda! It is amazing to watch it grow back, like having a chia pet on your head, can't wait to see what's new each day. I have some funky swirls going on too. I've caught the DH staring at the back of my head more than once, lol.

Tee hee, my Mom told me tonight that my niece stated she wanted to draw something and she said she would draw something that was on her unless she had cancer. So my Mom asked her what that was and she said "my hair! It won't fall out unless I get cancer like Auntie Jane!" (that's me, Jane) Kids crack me up!
And Bren, I just bought my blow dryer last week. I threw my old one away after I lost my hair. In between, after being bald, my hair was short and I just needed a bit of gel and off I went. So Ashla, I understand the just remembering how to style. But at the same time, there was a lot of ease with having short, short hair!

My insurance approved Perjeta post surgery. I had it with TCH, but unfortunately the chemo overall was too toxic for me and they had to stop it. They tried changing it twice, and the first change was to take out the Perjeta - since they had less data on it, then we switched my T to a different Hypoallergenic T generally reserved for Stage IV. But that didn't work either. So I received 4 rounds of chemo instead of 6. After this, they continued with maintenance Herceptin. But no further Perjeta. I'm wondering if anyone continued Perjeta during the maintenance Herceptin rounds? Wasn't sure if I should raise this with my onco, as I'm concerned that I may have not had enough chemo.

formydaughter - I did not receive Perjeta as my chemo was long enough ago that it had not been approved yet, but I believe that for early stage it is not continued along with your remaining Herceptin, it is given with the six cycles of TCH only. Also, many people are only prescribed four TC, so try not to worry about whether it was enough. For us triple pos folks, the Herceptin and hormonal therapy are thought by many to be the most important.

^ what special said including the no Perjeta.

There are no plans for me to continue with Perjeta after my 6 TCHP, only with Herceptin.

I have locally advanced IDC (5 cm, one node appears compromised), and am doing neoadjuvant chemo in the hopes of shrinking the tumor for a lumpectomy. After dense dose AC X 4, I've been getting Perjeta along with my Taxol and Herceptin. However, whereas the Taxol and Herceptin are weekly for 12 weeks, I've only been getting the Perjeta every 3 weeks for a total of 4 doses. Once I have my surgery and then rads, I'll finish up a year of Herceptin. But, there's no plans for anymore Perjeta beyond those 4 doses.

thank you ladies!! I feel better already!

formydaughter - I only had 4 rounds also. I was supposed to get 6 but my feet were badly burned, fingernails coming off, my eyes were streaming with tears and the diarrhea was beyond imagining - I was afraid to leave the house. My labs showed my reds/whites were not nearly as bad as some of the other ladies have reported on this site but a doctor who was filling in for my onco just before TCH number 5 said enough. I haven't seen my onco since and can't help but wonder if the two doctors maybe had a disagreement afterwards. I'm like you though - hope I got enough.... I finish all my rads(24)/boosts(12) tomorrow.

I wonder why it affected us so much yet others can tolerate treatment much better. I hope that rads has been easier for you than the chemo.
And Yippee - you are heading into Thanksgiving DONE with rads! That's cause for a celebration! I hope you are able to enjoy the holiday.

I always thought I was strong until chemo. I never felt weaker in my life. I just thank God I survived. There were definitely times I didn't think I'd make it through.

I don't know where you DH is moon, but I live in PA and thats what my yard & trees look like now. Its pretty today, but it wasn't so pretty yesterday. Got stuck driving home from work and the DH had to come rescue me. Just the day before my mom was telling me to sell my car and get 4wheel drive. Do moms ALWAYS have to be right?

debiann, that's what my yard looks like too! We got 9" yesterday. At least the roads are clear now

We don't know much about that white stuff down here in Houston but we do have to shovel humidity in the summer.
