Wow, that is cold Ruth. CassieCat, hoping for a clear and Mary lots coming up for you.
Early gym - 2 classes, one called core and more and last body step as this was the instructors last day and no one else so far teaches it.

I thought it was chilly here, but 50s-60s are pretty good! I got in week 1, day 3 of my couch to 5K done today and am feeling pretty good this afternoon.

Happy Holidays everyone!
Cassie Cat- My prayers that your scan was ALL CLEAR!
I got a FITBIT for Christmas to help keep me on track. My initial goal is low- just the 10,000 steps- but I've done it 3 of the last 4 days. My hope is that it helps me stay on track and ensure that I do something everyday.
Both today and yesterday my main exercise was lovely long walks in the country with good friends!

Cheryl - glad my trip brought back some nice memories for you! We had a great time...next time I hope to go when the weather is a little warmer to enjoy the monuments. We skipped it this time since it was raining, but I suppose we couldn't have easily packed any more into our one day sightseeing extravaganza!
Mary - Yes!! We saw Bao Bao!! It was so cute...he was up in the top of the tree! I would have loved to have seen him get up there, but we missed that part since he was already snuggled in place when we saw him.
Ruth - Yikes - too cold for me! Our weather has been up and down a bit...supposed to get colder tonight, but our low will be 28 and that will be way warmer than what you have right now!
CassieCat - Hope the scan went well! Good luck with the couch to 5K - that sounds like a great way to ease into it.
Momwriter - Have fun with the FitBit - I was reading a little bit about that over the holidays and it looks really cool!
Today I did my stretching/toning and 30 minutes on the treadmill. It was nice to get back on it. My husband, the joker, asked me if I remembered how to turn it on since I hadn't been on it in a while!! Good night all!

momwriter, I have a fitbit and love the daily feedback. I've had one for years.

Mel we were there when it was really hot and humid. LB Step is a dying art, we only have one instructor left and her classes are always packed so people still like the class. My gosh Ruth brrrrrr and we think 50 is cold.
Danced for an hour tonight at 'Cardio Dance Party'

Mel - were you here over Christmas Eve when Bao Bao stayed up in the tree all night? It was quite a source of local angst and was all over the local news. She apparently touched a hot wire they use to keep the pandas confined and it scared her and she bolted up her tree and wouldn't come down. She eventually got hungry, though, and came down the next day. If you use Twitter, you can follow Bao Bao on Twitter - @BaoBaoPanda. Whoever writes that account does a really great job - the tweets are a lot of fun to read.
Ruth - 35 below???
And here I thought I was brave going for a run this morning when it was 35 above!! LB - I'm sorry your step class is ending - hopefully someone will pick it up soon. Why does that always seem to happen? It's like finding a product at the grocery store you really like, only to have it be discontinued.
Momwriter - I think you'll love your FitBit. I've had a Nike Fuelband for a couple of years now and really like it - I find it does keep me accountable. Two mile run in 35 degrees (above zero) temps this morning. I have my little running light, reflective bands, and reflective running top for running in the dark so I can see and be seen. Amazingly enough, I saw a bunny out and about this morning!!
Any hockey fans here? We're going to the Winter Classic in DC on Thursday at Nats Park - Capitals v. Chicago Blackhawks. Should be a fun and very different experience! Any hints for watching a hockey game live? Should I just watch the puck, or should I watch some of the other players to see how they set up a play?

If it were 35 above I would be running in shorts!!!!!!

If it were 35 above here I'd be in front of my fireplace.

Hi everyone,
I have not been online for a couple of weeks and am just getting caught up by skimming the last 5 pages. Sounds like you all have been pretty busy.
Congrats to Patoo and Kindergarten on your weight loss. Happy Birthday, Mary and congrats on your cancerversary.
Welcome, Cassie. I used the couch to 5k program this summer and it turned me into a runner.
I have been exercising every day at the gym but we have had a warm spell here since Christmas with the temps reaching the 50's and I have been loving being able to get outside. I ran 4 miles on Christmas Day, walked 4 miles on 12/26, ran 3 miles on 12/27, walked 3 on 12/28 and ran 3 miles on 12/29. The last 2 runs were done along the beach (in CT!) and the sun off the water was so beautiful. What a gift to get in late December. Back to the dreadmill today as temps are colder.

No classes this week either, I am already sick of the treadmill so I was diggng through my exercise DVDs and came upon the Body Combat DVD that Cheryl gave me last summer (it had gotten wedged in the back of the drawer). So I did the Body Combat 48......very, very fun and a great workout! We will walk tomorrow but I will for sure do the other disc (49) later in the week. Thanks again, Cheryl!

Grateful step has lasted as long as it has over these past 7 years (how long we have lived here in the Kent hinterlands) with 4 classes and now, starting January 1st. down to one. It's old step rats like moi, that know what a terrific workout it offers yet the main step instructor's back is not able to deal with it any longer, so she has opted to once a week. I'll miss body step as this new release is good yet I can take it at night at a council owned gym if I really miss it.
Body balance this morning and yoga with son tonight.

Took a half-day yesterday and again today to use up the last of CY'14 vacation. Glad I got out and walked yesterday afternoon while it was still in the mid-20's. The cold is here now, too, it was 4 this morning! I don't even want to know what it is with the wind chill factor. Brrrrrrrrr! ♥ to all

iPad problems so I've switched to my laptop, Ruth it is so funny that you did that today because yesterday I sent you something in the mail to add to your basement collection, should be there in two days ... cause through wind and rain and sleet and snow the post office does deliver.
Did Grit Strength this morning.

Cheryl, Eduardo certainly earns his last name!

I'm going to give my Zumba Dance Party CD another try. I love to dance but so far it just isn't my cup of tea. If I don't get past feeling clumsy & stupid, it may also go to ND!

Dang Ruth, that is cold! Badger, don't worry about the exact steps; just have fun with it. Pretend you're Cheryl...
Lilacblue, hope another good step teacher comes along soon. Sunday was a rest day for me and I also took yesterday off to give my sore muscles a chance to recover. Back at boot camp tonight. (And laundry..ha ha)

Hello, I'm new to this thread. I did 1hr of Zumba today. I usually go every Tuesday and Saturday but it's getting harder to get to the 8:30 am class on Saturday. In between I usually do the treadmill and weight lifting. I've lost aprox 10 pounds over the last 9 months, trying to lose about 10 more so I can have 5 pounds to play with.
