1/14- been off with my routines with being a bit more tied to the house with some home reno work. But the painting got done yesterday, and now I have five days to get to the gym every day until the flooring project starts next Monday.
Today I did a triple work out: 35 min of resistance training with the machines, a 20 min core kettle bell work out, and 20 laps in the pool! I feel good!
Mary- I am sorry about your FIL, but glad you had the trip to be able to say goodbye. Very hard to do but it will make you all feel better down the line you went. Hugs to you and your family during this time of transition.
Cassie- that is such excellent news. Congrats and glad you were able to walk some! You are going to kick this thing.

Triple workout. Okay, maybe restorative yoga doesn't count. Early spin class and later barre class. Tabata and core tomorrow.
Badger, I have RA and have managed to keep it at bay with lots of exercise (and diet).
Cassie, I could hear you shouting from the mountain tops with your good news!

A background on the 'this girl can' video: Sport England is an organization that funds fitness programs in the UK. In their surveys they found that most women in their country wanted to be more active but were intimidated. They felt they were too heavy, too old, too uncoordinated, too self-conscious, or too whatever.....so they created this video of real women of all shapes & sizes just out there moving & having fun. If 'this girl can', then every other girl can too.

Cheryl, such a sad day for your friend. God bless you for being there for her.
As for me, I ate way too much today including a slice of red velvet cake (my favorite) while celebrating another year's passage. But I heard the voices so I came home and walked on the treadmill for an hour.
Have a good night all.

Cheryl, sending a hug to your friend from me.
Was that a birthday cake, Odie? If so, Happy Birthday (and the calories don't count)!!

Cheryl, I'm sorry for your friend. I pictured you with her just now, and it is a deeply moving image.

Did a little stretching/toning today along with some housework. Yesterday I ended up with just a little walking while shopping and outside with the dog. I'm hearing lots of voices and am encouraged by all the posts. Yesterday was my daughter's bday and tomorrow is my husband's bday so we are still celebrating here!

Hour yoga class and half hour elliptical.

Cassie-congrats on the great news!
Ruth- I saw that video earlier today on a friend's Facebook post and loved it!
Yesterday, I had my annual checkup with my breast surgeon who said everything looks great and complimented me on getting so consistent with my exercise. I celebrated by putting in an hour at the gym.
Today I got some bad news about a friend /mentor from work whose breast cancer came back and has pretty much spread everywhere. She is in critical condition in the hospital. The news hit me pretty hard. I am sotired of losing people to this disease! I wanted to drown my sorrows in a bag of potato chips but I thought about the voices and headed to the gym instead. Thanks for being there for all our ups and downs.

Ginger sending a big (((HUG))) heartbreaking news. Yes Odie if it's your Birthday many happy returns and yay a no calorie day. Jazzy congrats on getting your painting project done. Badger hope the switch goes easy and I agree the exercise helps with the side effects.
Did Sh'bam this morning and went to do Grit Plyo tonight but only lasted a few minutes as it was all jump over the step go down do a push up jump up and jump over the step whoa too much for these old bones so I left and went to another gym and did a 1/2 hour of a Body Combat class.

I got this picture in my FB feed and wanted to share because I just got these fabulous new dancing shoes as a gift, now I need to get some fancy new workout clothes to go with the shoes!!! My Body Jam and Sh'bam teacher Jericho in on the right and on the left is Lissa who is our back up Jericho and Ruth is working out with Lissa as she's on the Body Combat video I sent her.

Oh (((Ginger))) very sad news yet good to get kudos from your doc and that you worked out rather than ate to stuff feelings. Good woman Cheryl, hope your friend can get back home for closure. Happy Birthday Odie! Thank you everyone for your support for the instructor qualification course.
Forgot to post yesterday and did a morning at the gym, which was vibe box and body balance. Today, it's pink pilates and two yoga classes in the afternoon.

I am so impressed by you ladies and some of you doing double or triple or hard core workout days!
Yesterday did the 1.8 miles in a 1/2 hr during lunch break...32 degrhttps://community.breastcancer.org/forum/58/topic/741082?page=779#ees.
Nothing today, i have an all day face to face meeting and dinner afterwards. Looking forward to the dinner with my peers we need to cut loose a little.
Friday I plan on a 45 minute walk during lunch but Saturday is my big 4.8 mile or 5.5 mile walk depending on my friskiness.

Ginger, I'm sorry to hear of your friend's news.

Cheryl and Ginger....such sad news. I am bracing myself for losing at least one friend this year. There is a point where being there is all you can do. All of this strengthens my resolve not to waste the time I have on this earth.
On the exercise front, I am doing my boring, but effective, daily routine. My evening walks have been really good for thinking, and I have figured out what I need to accomplish career-wise this year. I couldn't do this without some of the work the nonprofit did a week ago in refocusing around a large initiative with three key elements. That has given me the framework to map the work I do. So very exciting.
I will sneak in some exercise on Saturday prior to our all day Board Retreat...so thinking a run as the sun comes up. Hoping for a day of skiing on Sunday as need to hit the x-country trails. Not sure about Monday, but either a run or a ride.
I have noticed that the days are getting brighter. It will be really bright if the sun is out when I am skiing. Just love that and feel most alive ever. Most welcome after the gloomy fog!
Happy Thursday everyone! - Claire

Great yoga class this morning! Will try to at least walk later. Ginger- glad you are exercising well. But so so sorry about your friend.

Ginger so sorry. This disease is just too common. Exercise is a good coping strategy for sadness and anxiety. Kudos to you for choosing that route.
Walked 30 minutes outside tonight and also went to the mall at lunch which got me 60 active minutes on my Argus app.

((Ginger)) Sending heartfelt hugs.
Mel, sending birthday wishes to CD and DH.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Celebrated and indulged in cake so glad to know birthday calories don't count....LOL
Went to bootcamp tonight with a couple of co-workers. One described the class as intense and decided we are crazy but the other really enjoyed it.
Now off to soak the sore muscles then to bed. Good night all.

Night my sculpted friends.

I got in about a mile walk today. Hoping to do more tomorrow. Looking forward to coffee with a former student and her mom tomorrow, too. She's a junior in college and wanted to see me while home. So sweet.
odie, happy birthday!

Odie - thanks for the bday wishes for my DD and DH and Happy Birthday to you, too!
I had a great day with my DD today...we did a lot of walking around multiple stores. She is so easy to be with and lots of fun - I just love hanging out with her! We also had lunch out and did celebrate with some more gluten free cookie cake (and a gf brownie, too), but, as odie said, bday calories don't count!! Made a chocolate pie for my DH, but his has gluten, so we don't get to share that one, it's all for him!
Night, all!

1/15- did a 35 min walk in the neighborhood today, and an hour and 20 min yoga class tonight at the gym. The yoga class was harder than expected, but I also have not been doing as much yoga the past few months, so I need to get back into it. It felt good!
Cheryl and Ginger- some very tough times for your friends right now. Sending you both big hugs tonight.

I'm still in TEs but cleared to exercise so I did a 10 minute yoga for stress relief yesterday.
Then pushed a shopping cart around the store for an hour.
Bummed because my vivofit didn't catch my steps at the store because my arm wasn't moving but I know I made at least 5000 steps yesterday. Better than nothing lol

Tabatta yesterday and today a pretty intense yoga class. Lots of chaturanga! Still doing it with knees down but was happy I could even do it as such! A good weekend to all.
Ruth, hope those temperatures are into the positive and not negative!

Thanks for all the kind words about my FIL and DH's family. My FIL is still hanging in there - we were even able to FaceTime with him a couple of night ago, but the hospice nurse still thinks time is short.
I've done no real exercise this week. We've spent the week recovering from the trip, plus ever evening we've been moving the furniture back into place after the floor refinishing and room painting. We're headed up to the cabin for the long weekend - plan on collapsing most of the weekend, and maybe do a little hiking.
Remember, all of you newbies who have had nodes removed - be sure to read up on how to develop a safe exercise program after b/c surgery - check the thread about Guidelines on Exercise for those With/At Risk for Lymphedema : https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/58/topic/...

Yoga this morning. Will try to get on the treadmill before the day is done.
Yes, Olaf the temperatures are above zero but now a rain/sleet 'event' may be headed our way......so we will wish it were colder again, sigh!!!
