Got out in the fog/drizzle/rain to do 25 miles on my bicycle. Or rather, 23 as my suspicions were right that the source of the flat wasn't detected two weeks ago. So another detour to the bike shop, and this time they found the thorn that was at the bottom of the flat tires.
The good news is that the walking, running, and easy hikes were enough to keep my basic fitness, so all went just fine with the ride itself.
The funniest story out of Seattle this past week was the fog....or rather the STINKY fog that appeared and then left. Lots of finger pointing as to the source, but no one has been able to identify it for sure. I missed out on the stench as now live too far east, but understand it was quite "aromatic". Anyway, pulp factories are pointing to farms, and both are pointing to dead sea critters and who knows what else. It's really very funny. The beer place I cycled by today was quite pungent too.
So who knows??? - Claire

It's been a long time since I posted. I was gone for the month of December to visit family and friends in Mexico and just came back yesterday. I did not finish the livestrong at the Y session so I've signed up for a 2nd tour and will know later this week if they'll let me in.Otherwise my new year's resolution is to walk outside even if its with the walker and little by little (I'm in Florida so weather should be no problem).
Looking forward to jumping back into shape.

Welcome back, Aurora and thanks for checking in Cassie, glad you're doing OK.
Peggy, that's what we mean when we talk about the Voices around here! I heard them myself.
Did AM yoga with Rodney Yee (felt so good to stretch!) and also walked 30 mins @ indoor track.
Will do zumba dvd tomorrow morning while DH is at work. We'll watch football in the afternoon.

1/10- I am taking apart some rooms and moving things right now as I prepare to have some painting done here, so plenty of exercise with that, but still went to the gym to do an hour of resistance training.

It's been a while since I posted. Thankfully yesterday was my final chemo treatment. I got in a three mile run before treatment but have barely gotten out of bed or off the couch since. I'm hoping to get a walk in tomorrow. Seems odd to think that this time last year I was getting ready to start tapering for my 11th marathon! I can't wait to get back to long runs and Pilates!

Keep it up ladies!
We love to see the support you all give to each other :-)

LaRock, congrats on your final Chemo treatment!! Wow, you did a three mile run before, that is amazing!! You will be running those Marathons again soon!
Still raining here, I might just have to walk that mall again, shopping therapy😄😄😄. Have a Great Sunday, everyone!!

LARock- congrats on your last chemo treatment and exercising through that whole process. I hope you get your energy back quickly, and can keep working out through your recovery.

Yea LARock....you will be rocking it soon again!

Welcome back LARock and congrats on being PFC (post final chemo)!
Just finishing my second cup of coffee, then must zip out for toner. New printer is not amenable to cartridges being taken out & shaken & put back in for more copies. And when the ink runs out, it runs out PDQ. Thought I had back-ups but noooo. I have Dec bookwork to print out for accountant so MUST go dagnabbit. But I have time for that and zumba too, the game's @ noon.

LARock....congrats on last chemo. It's all downhill from here!
Don't worry, you will be running marathons again by the end of the year. I hope you pointed out to your infusion team that you had run 5k earlier that day. I always did with my cycling, as it was really fun being fitter than the staff. I also called my radiation oncologist a weenie and he agreed.
This because I was doing the Seattle-to-Portland and he wasn't. He is also a cyclist and I was being treated at the sponsoring organization.
Congrats and well done! Let us know when you are able to train again. Enjoy your walk. - Claire

CassieCat, thanks for the upbeat update and LARock, so please you are now able to get back and beyond-terrific!
Aurora, always good to see a post by you and Jazzygirl, you have mucho going on at your house. Cheryl, a bit surprised to read you enjoyed Body Flow; do you like this release? Was up early, beautiful sunrise and out by 8am with son to yoga. The gym was cold yet the standing postures and inversions got us warmed up quick. Came home to run 4 miles in sunshine, although it's a chilly January (looking more like April) and had on half zip fleece, hat and gloves.

Met a friend at the YMCA and we did a couple workout DVDs in the Fitness On Demand room (you pick which workout you want from a selection & it plays on a big screen), then I walked on one of their nice treadmills for awhile so I could watch the end of the Packers/Cowboys game (which I'll bet got Badger's heartbeat up more than any traditional exercise!).

LA rock, that is awesome! Good for you. You'll be back out there in no time. Congrats on finishing chemo.
I'm hoping to go for some kind of walk tomorrow. I'm still feeling good physically, but the emotional stuff is hitting me this afternoon. Still, it's great to be home and recovering. 0 -

1/11- lots of moving out of things from the two bedrooms today. Got a lot done and then took a break for a nice 35 end of the day walk. Once I get the stuff moved and to the painting day, I am going to start walking in the mornings before they arrive and go to the gym in the evenings. Double work out!
Lilac- yes busy here at the house but almost done! More more day to be ready for the painters who arrive on Tuesday!

1/10-I walked on the treadmill at the gym for an hour. Took down the huge Christmas tree and dragged it outside by myself. Approximately 15 trips up and down the basement stairs putting stuff away and doing laundry.
1/11-I used the treadmill for an hour. Finally getting the hang of it to jog on it so I jogged for 25 min of it. It felt great to overcome my nervousness. Came home and cleaned out and scrubbed the refrigerator.

Back from SoCal - hospice estimates about 2 weeks for my FIL, but who knows. But he was alert, oriented and in good spirits. We were able to enjoy a lot of time with him, and DH got to say his goodbyes. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to see him, but as you can imagine, it was a draining trip. We did take advantage of the warm SoCal weather to run a few miles every day - necessary for body and mind. Stayed at my SIL's house the final night as she lives in Chino Hills near the airport - her house is right up against the hills, and we heard the coyotes yipping and howling all night - that was amazing to hear them, especially that close. It sounded like they were right below our window. I can see why everyone keeps their cats and dogs inside, especially at night.

Mary, as emotionally difficult your trip must have been, it is wonderful that y'all were able to spend some joyful moments with him.
Today I did yin yoga and will go to TRX this evening. It's 55 today and it feels like spring! Too bad it's raining. But I certainly am happy for it to be slightly warmer!

Mary, so glad FIL is alert and you could spend some 'real' time with him. Thinking of you all.
Olaf, you will laugh at this.....when we came out from yoga this morning my friend & I commented that it was a 'brisk day', but it didn't feel too bad because the sun was out & there was no wind.....I checked the thermometer when I got home and it was 11 below......brisk indeed!

Ruth, that is not brisk, that is just down right insane! A good laugh indeed! You're my hero, Ruth!

Can't even imagine temps like that ruthbru - I'm shivering just reading that. Mary, glad you got to see FIL while he still is alert and in good spirits. It's still hard so will continue to keep you and the family in prayer.
Nothing today yet but plan on doing the treadmill a little later.
