Ah geez! You guys are getting me all excited for Spring!
Smarty's at the beach, Little Enerva made a Terrarium! And I LOVE Cyclamen's! I bought a little Hyacinth bulb, in a cute little jar, just standing with roots in that clear "vase".... It kept growing, I kept watering the vase, and one morning I woke up, and it was blooming, and fell out of that little jar!!!!!!!!!
Now who ELSE would do that? So I run upstairs, grab that old huge glass vase that I used to keep my Betta in, and stuck the little vase, in THAT vase, and now the Hyacinth is standing up like it should, being held up by the OTHER vase.... AND another Hyacinth stem is in there blooming too!
I'll take a picture of the vase within a vase....
Smarty, those Owls are darling!
And Spookie, I only partially FELL! I WAS taking a shower... See, DH put this shower hose in about 20 years ago... It was just a bath-tub... Then he connected a hose from the faucet, with a loop, because the faucet was pointing down, and he attached it up above on a form, that went around the tub... The shower head is mounted above, just like a real shower!
But that "loop" is what will kill me! I had stepped OUT of the tub, onto the soft little fluffy rug, but my other foot got tangled up in the loop of the hose, and held on, so I just only fell down on one knee, and my hands, and then I rolled over, and THAT is what is so funny! My leg was still in the tub, bleeding like bloody murder from the connection... he spliced it for some reason, with a metal thing! So once he heard me hit the door with my hand as I splat hit the floor... I felt like a beached whale.... I mean guppy!
And he thought he should help me up, but I didn't want to move something that might not move....! So I got all my parts figured out, and got myself up... but he thought that "syptic" thing would stop the bleeding!
Have YOU gals ever used that to stop the bleeding? Might as well get a blow-torch!
Paper towels worked best...But it is funny now... Come to think of it!
He MIGHT get a one piece hose, instead of what is on there now! THAT way, when I fall, it will at least be smooth, and not have brackets and screws and whatever the hell it is on there. And figure out a better way to connect that shower head!
Susan... You made me laugh!
And so you can see part of that hose going from the faucet to the mounted shower head... It really IS quite clever... but I can screw THAT up in a hurry!
Our bathroom is very tiny... not enough room to install a pole...Ha!
I mean you can't fall VERY far! Can't even hardly turn around....

And I thought MY bathroom was little! Can't sneeze & fart in mine at the same time, you'd blow out a wall. Pretty shower curtain! Can't see the hose thingy, but I'm going to order new glasses this week, then maybe I'll see it

Chevy- the guest BR in my house is small like that. But not the main bathroom I have, I have a walk in shower in the master bathroom.
I also have no pole there either, but thinking about one....LOL!
0 -
Spookie! It is to the right of the shower curtain.... You can see a white "thing" on the right in the picture.... That was so funny what you said!

I ordered that shower curtain from Victorian Trading Co.... Yes, I know it's "girlie".... but we don't care.
Yes Jazzy..... You can put in mirrors and a pole, and a big white fur rug, right in front of a fire-place and ..... the options are endless.... Are you talking about the bedroom or bathroom?

If you fell off this bed, you would be in a world of hurt!

Okay I'm done..... just dreanin'.....

Chevy- just kidding about the pole! I will stick to my second "evening job" for that activity.
Those bedrooms are beautiful and very romantic looking! The one on the bottom looks the most inviting for sleep. I love bedrooms with fireplaces in them too.

Oh Owlettes, internet connection problem. Then it corrected itself with out working on it? Sunspots?
Jazzy glad you are going to give it a try. Lots of nice folks. Jazzy the walk-in tubs can break the bank. It's a year since I looked at them. Still getting ads about them. Nothing I saw was cheap or at least as cheap as I wanted. If they weren't so expensive, I think they would be great. I suppose expense is relative,
Hopeful , also, glad you've come Yay. Love the wood floors. Smarrty just redid hers too. They are so warm cozy.Great looking with the antiques too
J& H prepare for your names to be changed LOL, and irreverent talk.
Smarrty, beautiful quilt, How was the retreat? The little owl bag. Did you make that? Cute.
Hi 2222222222 and Spookie, Susan, Dunes, Teka,44444444
Chevy How you turn a phrase, English Leather Tea HAHA. Yes, white sangria. Chevy oh a fall, glad you didn't get badly hurt. I hate falls they take away our sense of control. Chevy love the bwhite bedroom. Very girlie, goes well with your bathroom.
Hello, Blondie glad you are moving on to the next phase. Are you enjoying the three square meals a day?

Enerva , pretty terrarium. I've not done one,so, I think yours is purrfect

Jwooohoo your lemons are so perfect they almost seem unreal. What are you going to make?
Have a lovely day

Sas- I sort of figured those walk in tubs were pricey. I built my house 11 years ago, and did so in mind with aging. I wanted one story (no stairs), nothing on the roof that had to be dealt with regularly (like a swamp cooler or AC unit), and did choose to have an upgrade done to include a walk in shower stall. I also had a handicapped rail put in that shower for my mother when she visited and boy, all those things really made a big difference with me getting around this place when it all went down in 2012.
My mother used to use one of those walk in tubs when she was at one of the two longer term care places and told me how much she loved it. She said she never felt more clean coming out of one! I figured they were for the rich and famous, or the group living situations.

Some of you may find this interesting. The first picture is of a good shoulder. See how nice and smooth the ball of the humerus is? That's because there is a nice cushion of cartilage covering the bone so it slides easily back and forth & up and down.

This is my shoulder, about 5 years ago. See how pitted the ball is? How eroded the socket is? See that big ol honkin bone spur on the underside of the ball? Now imagine that arm rotating upwards and think where that bone spur will catch. Ouch.

Thank you for watching.

Jazzy, roughly 7-10,000. I decided pretty quick against them. There were some cheaper, but once you learn about the characteristics that are in a good product. The cheaper ones will be off the list. But new products are coming out all the time. A couple issues that I remember. Seals to prevent water leakage. Door can make it tuff to get in and out. If anything pops into my head , I'll post.
The replacement activity here was in the second bath. I converted it from a tub to a shower. The main bath is an age in place dream. A Japanese woman designed it. Large walk-in shower. Wide enough to fit one of those shower chairs that fit over a tub-big seat. Floor space that you could fit 3 wheelchairs end to end and still have side room. Bidet. Garden tub without jets:(. But I use it frequently b/c of a medical problem. So frequent I'm putting a TV in there.
They only thing unsafe is a step to get in tub. I have never used it b/c it is so blatantly unsafe. But I would have a cost to fix it. Stretching to get over the step, Is okay, but getting harder as I age.
The one real error in the whole house, is the door to the master closet. It's undersize. Dh couldn't get his walker through without turning it. Nor could a wheelchair get through. Otherwise, this house would seem to have been built by "Universal Design". The 1980's phrase, that was replaced by "Age in Place" design. A in P is immediately identifiable. Universal design took explaining. Concepts are the same.
Jazzy when we first moved 1992, we called it the bowling alley. DS set his toy bowling pins up :0

Mags- holy crap on those shoulder X-rays. No wonder you hurt so badly.
Well, you have not lost your sense of humor(ous)......something to be said for that.

I have hyacinths on my window sills, too! Love the scent at this time of the year. I have antique bulb jars that were my great-grandmother's, as well as a few newer jars. I feel very connected with my foremothers when I get them out.
We built our house with some aging in place concepts, too, thinking my father might one day live with us. (So far, nothing doing!) We have a big walk in shower big enough for a bench (great when I had a broken ankle) and the tub has a big ledge we can sit on, then swing into the tub. It's less expensive than the walk in tubs but will work for us until upper body strength is gone. The guest suite has grab bars in the tub just for safety but it's kind of a low tub.
We went with extra-wide doorways, etc., which makes the house feel really open and generous. After living in a chopped up box for so many years I relish the space and the light. Now if I could just take a flame-thrower to my office and unclutter THAT space!

Mags OUCH. Multiple traumas?0 -
wow your shoulder gives mee pain by just looking at it

Is it due to an accident or just bone lost?
Hope you manage.
I am on the train going home last night I was awake at 3 am again. Came here but everybody was sleeping.
Wonder how our french lady is doing? Never hear from her again.
Have a wonderful evening owls

Purely arthritis. Sad, eh? No trauma.

This just makes me think of Spring...
Mags.... I'm so sorry.... That shoulder looks like it hurts! So is there anything they can do to help with the pain? Or the bone spur? What can you take for that, long term!

Ouch Mags!!!!! I've heard orthos are doing shoulder replacement now, like knees. Something to look into? But not soon enough to deal with rads

Hopeful- I had to take my home office apart with the work being done right now. I have way too much paperwork to go through, but must wade through some boxes and containers next to decide what needs to be stored, shredded, etc. It is the least appealing part of this process that I am going through, but a must do. I am going to start that UGLY job tomorrow......
I like the idea of the flame thrower though. Puff, up in smoke! LOL!

Chevy- I have resound aides behind the ear. Got them at Costco and they work better then the 5k phonak ones from the audiologist. Since I got off the airplane my ears aren't quite right.. ugh. Hope it clears up by tomorrow. You would have laughed Chevy. I got a rental car and they gave me a Chevy Spark - which is a modified go-cart. The steering wheel is so large that it obscures the dash panel when you turn it. I like to see how fast I am going. (Who was the engineer who did that design??) Needless to say one stroll around the parkade and I headed back in for an upgrade - doubled the price. So I get a Chevy cruz, the oil light check engine comes on and then I couldn't get the seat back. Back into the airport for an exchange...way over an hour to fix it -Comedy at 1 am in the morning. Then she brought me a new Chevy Cruz and it works great. Got to say I like driving it. I am so tired though.
Enerva-love the terrarium just beautiful. Now you need a wee tiny frog. I brought one in one time and it hopped on the table scared us!
Mags I am so sorry to hear of all your joint issues. I have a miserable left knee that gives me grief. Gimpy now. sucks. I hope they can get you some relief. I can't imagine having so many affected joints and trying to move and do things. It must be so hard.
Blondie- Nice to see you. I hope the extra TLC at the rehab place is helping your pain, healing the ankle and lifting your spirits.
Howdy to everyone else.

Rose!!!!!! PLUZEEEEEEE!!!!! Don't call my Spark a go cart!!!!! I love it! Great gas miles, turns on a dime, make my own parking spaces. And with its color, I never loose it in parking lot.

OH NOOO!!! You have one?? Now I have gone and blown it. No lunch at the Columbia. I put down your car and Sass didn't return PM since I goofed around too late to call. Dog house now. You have to forgive me I drive a Chevy Mini van! The Spark is teeny tiny and scary after driving a mini van... they drive fast in Florida and I don't know where I am half the time. I haven't gotten lost yet.. well I missed the turn for the hotel and had to go down 202 twice and circle back. I like the color very much!!! Have I redeemed myself?

Spookie- love the car!

Yep, that's my little green machine. I've had it just a bit over a year. They do have OnStar, that's really great. We do the speed limit here. Fast is in Atlanta. They scare even me!
Thanks Jazzy

the the car spooks...I think you posted it before. Remember the great color. My kid has a Yaris. I think that is smaller....but great gas mileage. I have a Toyota highlander. My favorite car I have ever had. Hope it never dies.
Rosevalley, I hope you find sassy pants
Night night everyone.

I think they are about the same size. They weren't really designed to haul kids and their stuff. The back seats do go down, so if I I had to, I could get some bulky stuff in it. Just a car for grocery runs, dog park and Dr

yes sass, we made the owls. Here's what we ended up with. They are weights for cutting out things. Or paper weights. For our night owls out there. Hi enerva, hope you're not here tonight.

This is one of the dresses I got made. It looks like dragonfly wings! We're back home now. Get to see my kid tomorrow, he's the one going to Australia in a month.

Hope those who are hurting are feeling a little better. Rose, if you do meet up with sass and Spookie, take a pic

Hello, Hello !
Welcome to all the newbies & returnees...
Blondie, great to see you posting. I hope that ankle heals quickly...
Smaarty, another very cool project. The dress looks lovely. You & Envera ought to open up shop. Jwoo could be in charge of the vintage...I guess I could be the cleaning lady...lol...seems to be my life lately.
Ok, I am behind. I had to jump in on the bath discussion. Those new, modern looking ones, are fabulous looking. BUT they look like you would break your neck getting in & out. Plus, who has the room for those?
This one is for Sas...

One for Chevy

CHEVY, especially designed for the pole dancer.....keep YA in the mood......he. He.
And last everyone else....

ok, how do you get in and out of one of those without freezing your ass off? You have to sit naked while it fills up, then have to wait until it emptys to get out! I'd die from pneumonia!
