OOOhhh Smarty I LOVE your quilt you are so talented! Great colors! I love the little owl.
Jazzygirl your maple floors are so pretty. We have number 2 red oak and have had to resand, restain and reapply coats of urethane 2x in 14 years. The first time they put linseed oil and it didn't hold up to kids and dog nails. Hopefully urethane will be harder. We had commercial grade pergo in our last home and it was super easy to care for and was dog nail proof. I could do a commercial for the stuff. DH had to have real wood and it's more work, very pretty but more work.

Thanks, Teka!
Jazzy, that is gorgeous and has so much more character than carpet.
Smarty, love your handiwork. I am in awe of those who quilt well. There was an interesting display by two groups of local quilters in one concourse of the airport last month. It was all very contemporary work, and really beautiful. It brightened a rather dreary concourse but it was a shame that it was only accessible to those with tickets as it really deserved a wider audience.0 -

Just stopping by, been so busy I can't keep up!

Oh, she's talking about me, Hopeful! Just don't pay any attention to her. She knows not what she says... Ha! Besides, I only shortened your name, I didn't even change it!
See Jazzy, I read somewhere that when you have to use the John, or go to the "John" you are supposed to say "Jim" instead of John! So then everyone thinks you are going to the "Jim"! Just a tid-bit of information for y-all.
Rosie, it's just the age she is going through... I remember how emotional my two girls would get... for no reason what-so-ever... Just try and stay happy and involved with her.. She doesn't want you to be "sick" with anything. She will probably change, once those hormones of hers settle down. THEN she will go through a stage where you will have a hard time even TALKING to her... And she is sure you are the enemy Mother.
You Text? Now THAT is amazing! Texting to me is the devil's work.
Those keys are just not made for fingers... And email or a phone call is just much easier! But kids do it, and they think, WE as their Mentors should do it too. I just don't like to feel connected every second, and have my cell-phone within ears reach.
That is funny about your two pets warming up by the space heater! It's so true....! They love their own heat, AND spot.
You guys are talking about hard-wood floors and carpeting.... We put down Laminate a few years ago, and I just love it, and it takes really very little care! Just don't DROP anything! See, you're used to dropping things on the carpet, and you hear NOTHING, but drop it on Laminate, and yes, you will KNOW it!
Oh, and so here goes Smarty! Making pictures, and couches and Owls and ceramic cups, dresses and dressers! I must find a picture of something I did and post it.... Like making the bed...
And Spookie, WTH is a "setee".... It that like a thing you SIT on? I remember my Grandma using that word.... I'll have to look that up.
And you say "slug".... Man, one year I had so many slugs in my gardens I was just PO'd! I did EVERYthing.... Husband got miffed for me using HIS beer in little cups to trap them... And I was running out of salt, and the fish got sick of eating them.... (Enerva)... And I finally just gave up and since I was sorely outnumbered, I let them have my veggies. The Frost finally got them... I hate slugs!
And QUILTS??? She did quilts too? Who is this Miss Martha little smarty-pants? I did quilts too, but I used a machine...
Honestly you are SOOOOOOOO talented! But I can paint! Oh now watch this... she will show things that she has painted.
Morning 22222222222! I can't keep up either.... Hope you are doing good, and have that family in running order!

I know I posted this before, but I made this quilt from pictures or ours of our family, friends, pets, etc. I printed them onto transfer paper and ironed them on patches, and pain-stakingly machine stitched this altogether... with ruffles, batting and warm flannel underneath. That crochet afgan is one of my first cover-lets... related to "setee" but not the same. I didn't make the plant...
This is a girls house, but we don't care!

Chevy my youngest and oldest kids are Deaf. They can't talk on the phone, so we text like crazy. As a matter of fact all 5 of us text back and forth way more then we talk on the phone. Habit I guess. I have an old dinosaur flip phone, pay as you go. The kids and DH have smart phones. The contracts are so $$, I elected the cheapy. I can't hear well on the phone anyway, even with 2 hearing aides. Funny 3 out of 5 of us have hearing issues. My oldest is deaf, has a cochlear implant and can hear well, but signs only -no speech. The youngest is profoundly deaf, gets just a little help from her cochlear implant and signs only, no speech. My DH and I are not fluent in ASL and make lots of amusing mistakes that really crack up my youngest. We sign pretty well as hearing parents go, amazing most hearing parents of deaf kids hardly sign at all. Sad really.
My hearing daughter in the middle signed only as a kid and the pediatrician was worried she would not talk! Her sign vocabulary at ages 1-3 was stellar and way over what a hearing kid used. Once she started talking there was no stopping her! Her English and verbal skills are excellent. I think she thought little people sign and then you talk when you get older! Signing helps babies and toddlers way more then folks realize. My youngest frequently busts my chops, then gets all teary -eyed that I might croak... go figure.
I love your little house so cute! My DH and I are fans of the tiny house movement. I yearn to ditch the 2000sq feet cleaning, heating, cooling and taxes for something modest- 700-1000 bungalow. Still got kiddos so we wait. Some of the Tiny House plans even look like your little home! We rented a 2 and 1 bungalow when the kids were babies and loved it. Neat porch and built-ins, very compact (900 sq. ft) and efficient way to live. It was old and had so much character and charm. We had a porch on the front and back!

Morning Rosie! I'm so glad you are up, and we can talk! Let's have coffee together....
Okay, yes I knew about the hearing issues with your kids! Just those of us who DO have a hard time hearing, can really understand what it's like to "hear" with aids, instead of normal hearing.... Maybe growing up with the profound hearing loss is easier, than losing your hearing later on?
Your kids have developed into VERY honorable and caring little people! I know you are proud. I can see why texting is MUCH better than conversations! If I had a smart-phone, it might be easier, but not with the one I have.... But one night, I heard this little "ring-ring" and I got up, looked for my phone in my purse, and sure enough, it was Sheri, texting "I just love having someone to say good-night to!" ( I didn't tell her I had been asleep for an hour!)
So I sit up, try and SEE my phone, and after 5 minutes, type a legible "Sweet-dreams sweetheart.... I love you!" back to her... Then I see in the morning, she texts "love you too!" That was so special. And THIS "kid" is 56.... Ha!
Yes, she uses her phone with her Realty business, her Sons, Husband, and all her friends. Texting is how she communicates... "MOM, YOU ARE SO OUT OF THE LINK!!!!"
But I know it... it's just easier for ME to type on here, than on that "miniscule" key-board... Ha!
But what-ever works, right?
What kind of hearing aids do you have? Mine are about 4 years old ... Bernafon, Veras 9.... And I've really liked them, just that my left ear has gotten worse, so the gal "adjusted" the aids, and THEN my left ear just SCREECHED all the time! I went back, and they gave me different domes, which help a little more...
It's okay though.... My older friend Theresa canNOT see hardly at all! She has that Macular Degeneration, and her eye-sight is almost completely gone... Nothing more they can do... but I feel so bad for her, trying to "see" me with her "binocular" glasses she has.... She and her Husband laugh about SHE can't see, and HE can't hear! But they are both in their 90's! We should be so lucky, right? xoxoxo

Chevy- I love that quilt!
2nd- how are your parents doing?
Good morning everyone. I know some of you were up all night and sleeping in.......
0 -
I think I spelled it wrong. Settee. A fancy name for a fancy couch.
The beer should have worked on the slugs. Suckers like it so much they crawl in and drown.
Pretty quilt, you should do another. Keep you out of trouble, and off the pole

Every time I read something about Chevy and the pole thing, I crack up!

I DID do 2 more.... One for both boys in Orlando.... where quilts aren't exactly needed... Ha! But they are safely stored in their closets! Oh I found LOTS of pictures of Settee's! Like Love-seats... or small sofa's...

Here is one for us...

We can sit there and drink English Leather Tea! Or is that a man's fragrance? We can drink Sangria with Sassy.... Ha! YOU drink your whatever......

Spookie- that couch in the photo was my grandmothers and from the 1800's. My mother had it in our house as we grew up and when we had to clear out her house and move her to CA, I took the couch and another beautiful desk I really wanted.
The couch needs to be reupholstered as it has some faded areas, and found a place here that does good work with antiques. A friend had her family antique couch redone and saw it in person and may have that done at some point. I also have an antique rocker with wicker seat that needs to be re-caned and know someone who does that work too. More things to do down the line when I have the time and money.

ooooooh that pink one!!!!! Need a house to go with now.
Plain 'ole water for me

Smaarty, Did you have a pattern for the owl or just wing it?
Rose, My GS were taught sign before they could talk. Most of their friends did it too. Lots less anguish when they can tell you want they want. I'm a slow texter, but I like doing it. DD said her boys would roll on the floor laughing to see how slowly I do it.

I KNOW! And I need reading glasses to DO it, and I have to keep going "back" to correct it! Your fingers have to be as big as a pencil....

So you'll never believe this...... I fell OUT of the tub.... got my one foot tangled in the shower-hose, and went splat, down on one knee, and then got the other leg out! Hah! It only cut it a little.... Enough to scare DH.... and he came running when he heard the thump on the door! HE was going to put a syptic pencel on it! I said ARE YOU KIDDING???
So he just gave me paper- towels to mop-up.... See, I don't have to fall off the pole, I can fall on ANYthing! I'm just sore.... every bone is sore, but I didn't really hurt anything. I put on my compression socks to hold the bandage and the blood in.
How ARE you Blondie.... I don't have any more Tablet problems.... I gave it back to DD.... the rascal that gave it to me in the first place..... You are in the re-hab main room? Not the Casino main room? And don't go fallin' again. Yes, I know.... I should talk.... but I fixed the shower hose, where I won't catch my foot on it again....

How is the PT going? Do they do it every day or just Mon-Fri?
0 -
Yep apparently she needs a babysitter
Pt ok,.m-s for 1 hour, but i am doing them more in my room..unfortunately there is nothing i can do it is just time...time for the ankle to heal. A splint on it now, either a cast or a boot when i go to the surgeon
0 -
Blondie, it all hurts already! And I didn't even hit anything except my other knee! And tore that other leg! You would THINK I was old or something.... ..... I am going to sit on the heating pad, and cover up with my flannel warmer! I took 2 Aleve, and I'm drinking a coke.... It only hurts when I move...
I can't tell the girls, or they will scream and yell... probably strap me in a wheel-chair.... So I whine to you guys...... How do YOU get around? We have to get you a Segway!
Cammi has a cane now... We should all form a club or something.... We are mobility challenged.... Ha!
Happy rest of this Sunday girls!

omg, love the pictures, jazz that is so beautiful. Love the floor and the furniture.
Here is my project today, I made a terrarium
I always wanted one. Hope I did it right and it survives my lack of plants skills lol

Enerva- that is beautiful, especially with the cyclomen. I just bought a white one myself and hope I don't kill it as I have never been good with them. What is the secret around light and water to keep them going?
Blondie- time heals all wounds, especially broken bones. I think it is a good time to catch up on some movies. Do you have a TV in your room or do you have to go to that group room?
Chevy- segway's are cool. But I don't think they will help you to get in and out of the tub. I used a cane at one point myself after some bigger abdominal surgery and feeling a loss of balance after that. It could help!
I figure eventually I am going to trade out my jetted tub for one of those walk in tubs, but have no idea what they cost? Probably a small fortune.

We now have a flock. That is the link to make the owls. I've made two of them. Got a dress done and need to decide what I'm working on tomorrow. We leave at 2 and head home.
Me at the beach, it was nice and warm just before lunch, then the fog rolled in. Yes, the hair is longer then I thought. I'll cut off a couple inches in March. Sass, I don't it, just curl the ends and that's it

enerva, like your terrarium. Hope the plants survive.
Chevy, never take a bath, showers only. We did install grab bars and a bench seat, since we're only getting older. You need to be careful girl, you could have cracked something serious, like your funny bone!!
The quilt will go to Quilts of Valor after the quilt show in September. That's why it red, white and blue
